OMG! Today we went to work (at the vets') and it was busy-busy-busy as usual. Well, SO busy and there was even one of the Animal Aid's dogs there who would NOT stop barking for hours. Her name was Lilah and she was there for cruciate surgery - I mean she was friendly, but we couldn't play because of her bum leg - then they fixed it, but that will be awhile. I hope she gets adopted by a nice family...who is home a lot 'cause she will be NOISY if she's left alone.
So, we were there late - it was almost time to go home and it was dark and everyone else (dogs) had gone home from the outside play area except me. (And Lilah was in recovery and I couldn't play with the 3-legged GSD anyway because she was in a run and doesn't like us). My Mom was late...and late...and late...and I was starting to get scared in the dark a bit, but I just sat still and waited....
Finally around 7:pm she came to get me and guess what had happened? A dog had been SIDESWIPED BY A TRAIN!!! Her face was all cut up and I think they said she may lose an eye, but she is probably going to (eventually) be okay. Can you believe that? What a lucky dog - especially that her family found her so quickly and came over and the vets were all there to help her.
Anyway, that scares the fecal-matter right out of me, thinking about that train.
