Motorcycle ride

I went for my first motorcycle sidecar ride tonight. First dad took me out by myself. Then Finnegan and I rode together. We went to a nearby neighborhood, where dad knew some people. Everyone was outside waiting for it to get dark enough to light some fireworks. So when we drove up, everyone was really excited to see us. Finnegan did his usual wiggle butt and face licking routine. I barked at everybody - BOLBOL!!! Dad says I'm a really good rider so I'll get to go again! Woo hoo, happy 4th of July everyone.

Here is the poem I wrote for Sophie Grace for Valentine's Day, and I entered it in the Schnauzers rule poetry contest. Keeping paws crossed that others love it too!

Roses are red
Sophie Grace is cute!
In my sidecar, beards outspread
From the wind while we scoot!

Happy Valentine's Day !

Sophie Grace http://www.dogster.com/dogs/283495 said she'd be my Valentine!!! I'm the happiest little black schnauzer ... she so pretty and sweet.

Our parents are always off riding motorcycles. My biggest wish is that I could take her for a ride in my dad's sidecar. Hmmm...how to make that happen??

Alright Pals! You made it here. I see you caught my foot ball pass. Here is what you should do next! Hurry and pass the ball to 5 of your team mates so they can make a touch down. You are also supposed to write down 5 things about yourself that are funny. Also please leave me a bone and ask all those who visit your diary to leave you a bone so you will know they have been there! Okā€¦Here goes the play!

1. I am a fanatic about playing ball.

2. I'm the boss of Finnegan and I tell him by barking in his face.

3. I can fit through the fence around our pool and sometimes I poop around the pool!

4. I love to chase Finnegan when he's chasing squirrels.

5. I sleep under the blankets on Mom & Dad's bed.

My good buddy Lilly tagged me.

Secret Pals

In honor of Secret Pal Day on Jan 11, 2009, Georgie started a game in Schnauzers Rule. For the Week of Jan 11-17 each pup that signed up surprised their secret pal with all sorts of virtual gifts, links, pictures, etc. Georgie, Finnegan and I didn't get to play because it didn't seem fair to know everyone's secret pal ahead of time. But SOMEONE was sending me gifts every day as an unofficial secret pal. On the last day there was a hint that said "Root for the Ravens". I looked up that the Ravens were from Baltimore so it was a good hint. Unfortunately, I didn't discover who it was. It was so fun to get the presents and wonder who was this special pup. But today, I found out it was OSCAR. How cool is he for doing that!!! THANK YOU Oscar for being my unofficial secret pal but my lifetime friend.

Happenings at home

Mom has signed up Finnegan and me for some training. We met our new trainer this week, and I really like him. Mom says I have had a lot of anxiety. I'm anxious around people and don't trust them a lot. I love my mom & dad, but it takes a long time to warm up to other people, sometimes never! I bark a lot - at everything - sounds like doorbells, people talking or walking by on the street, things that move, things I think may move, new things, on and on. And I'm the boss of Finnegan. When he comes in the door I bark in his face. When I come in the door, I bark in his face. When we go outside I chase him and bark, bark, bark. When mom & dad come in the house I bark, bark, bark, bark (you get the idea) and get over excited! So after meeting our new trainer, after being evaluated and being on leash for a while, I really liked him. I jumped up on his lap and sniffed him & all his stuff and settled in. Mom was amazed to see me take to a new person so quickly.

One of the things our trainer taught mom was how to give effective commands to stop barking. I may not quit after her first try, but I do after the second! And she stops me from barking at other people and Finn, unless we're playing outside. Mom says it's a lot more peaceful around the house. I'll never stop barking, I'm a good guard dog and mom thanks me for that. But I'm learning to work with her. Anything to make my mommy happy!

Before I Was a Dog Mom

Our pal Putter posted this in another group & mom loved it!

Before I Was A dog Mom

Before I was a dog Mom:
I made and ate hot meals unmolested.
I had unstained, unfurred clothes.
I had quiet conversations on the phone,
even if the doorbell rang.

Before I was a dog Mom:
I slept as late as I wanted
And never worried about how late I got to bed
or if I could get into my bed.

Before I was a dog Mom:
I cleaned my house every day.
I never tripped over toys, stuffies, chewies
Or invited the neighbor's dog over to play.

Before I was a dog Mom:
I didn't worry if my plants, cleansers, plastic bags,
toilet paper, soap or deodorant
were poisonous or dangerous.

Before I was a dog Mom:
I had never been peed on
Pooped on
Drooled on
Chewed on
Or pinched by puppy teeth.

Before I was a dog Mom:
I had complete control of
My thoughts,
My body and mind.
I slept all night without sharing
the covers or pillow.

Before I was a dog Mom:
I never looked into big, soulful eyes and cried.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop a hurt.
I never knew something so furry and four-legged
could affect my heart so deeply.

Before I was a dog Mom:
I had never held a sleeping puppy
just because I couldn't put it down.
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was well.
I didn't know how warm it feels inside
to feed a hungry puppy.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important.

Before I was a dog Mom:
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being
A dog Mom

A thanksgiving thought

The day I give thanks for having a nose
Is Thanksgiving Day, for do you suppose
That Thanksgiving dinner would taste as good
If you couldn't smell it? I don't think it would.
Could apple pie baking---turkey that's basting
Not be for the smelling? Just be for tasting?
It's a cranberry-cinnamon-onion bouquet!
Be thankful for noses on Thanksgiving Day.
