Mom just received a new sherpa carrier for me!!! I immediately jumped in and stayed for over an hour. I can jump in the top, or go in through the end. Mom says she can tell I've traveled before. Maybe now I'll get to meet that woman everyone calls Granny who they say lives on the east coast!!! We'll see....

Doing OK Today

I had a minor set back yesterday. I woke up sick again when I woke up in morning. Mom & dad discovered I was sick during the night too. So mom held my food and stopped my antibiotics. I sure was hungry but mom kept telling me Dr. Morgan said I would be better without it! We think it was probably the antibiotics. And they were right! Today I had some chicken and rice for breakfast & cottage cheese & rice for dinner. For dinner tomorrow, I'm going to get some kibble. YAY!!! So today was a good day. Arrrooooo!

I'm Back!!!

Wow, what a long week it was!!! I started getting sick last Saturday, but just kind of on & off. I ended up with dad at the vet's all day on Wednesday when they found out I had a partial bowel obstruction from toy stuffing combined with shells from peanuts and sunflower seeds. They got that stuff up out of me, but on Thursday I was having tummy pain. So mom took me to the hospital Thursday night and they really didn't want me to go home. They gave me medicine for upset stomach but it didn't work. So on Friday that did something called a barium enema - yes it is as awful as it sounds! They didn't see any further blockage - whew! Whatever was in there must've come out with the barium - YUCK! So I finally got to go home. I've been regaining my strength and am almost back to eating regular sized meals. I have to take medicine now and am still on a restricted low fat diet. I can walk the same distance but not quite at the pace I usually do. One thing mom and dad have said is that my bark has returned BOLBOLBOL! They said it was unnaturally quiet around here for a few days.

So my recommendation is that you dont eat the stuffing in your toys, and if you do, don't combine it with shells that can get stuck in it!!! We'll see if I remember in the future. I did notice a lot of toys missing around here though. Oh well, mom says better safe than sorry.

Oh My Tummy...

I spent the day at the vet's today. For a few days on & off, my food has been coming up. Mom got worried and said I shouldn't be doing that, and I was getting dehydrated. So dad took me to the vet today. All my blood tests looked good, but my xray showed something that looked like stuffing from a toy!!!! Mom did find stuffing all over the floor the other night. So besides the IV fluid, they decided to give me some medicine like ipecac that makes you upchuck everything. And boy did I upchuck - toy stuffing, along with peanut and sunflower seed shells. YUCK!!! Mom says I've been sneaking from the food the parrots throw out of their cage onto the floor when they eat. Dad says my 'sophagus is too small for those shells. Anyway, afterwards I felt MUCH better. They wanted to keep me for observation overnight but dad convinced them he & mom could watch me. So I got to go HOME!!!

Finnegan was pretty worried about me. He told me mom had gathered up a lot of our toys and won't give them back. All she left were the toys we can't tear up. He's not happy about that either. But I got to eat a little rice and chicken, and drank a lot of water and went for a very short walk. I'm happy to be home with my family!!!

Today when mom got home she saw a woman walking a dog that Paula described that tried to attack me. She told dad, and he waited outside for her to walk by our house. Of course we were inside with mom. So dad asked her if she was the one with her dog off leash the other day, and she admitted she was! She apologized and said hat her dog got off leash by accident....hmmm, sounds fishy if you ask me. Any way dad told her that he welcomes her to the neighborhood, but if a similar incident ever occurs he will defend his dogs!!! She apologized and said it would never happen again. We sure hope so.

Attempted attack!

Today our dog walker Paula came by for our regular midday walk. She comes on the days that mom is at work. Dad just happened to be at home. Anyway, as we walked out of the door of our house, I saw a dog across the street and I barked at him. He was a big dog, and he was off leash!!!! He ran over to us right on our front steps and tried to attack me. He was trying to bite my neck!!! Paula protected me & Finnegan although we were trying to get to that intruder. She yelled at the lady to come get her dog, while she stood across the street calling her dog. Of course he wasn't listening to her. She finally came over, put her dog on leash and quickly walked away, without a word to Paula!!! Dad heard the ruckus and when he came outside and heard what had happened, he ran down the street looking for that lady. But he couldn't find her. I bet they ran home!!! Paula has been our walker for several years. She knows all of the neighbors and dogs in our neighborhood and she said they weren't anyone she recognized.

Mom was furious when she got home. We live on a private drive that is a dead end, and there is a sign that says only owners and guests allowed. What the heck were they doing on our street off leash!!! Mom says she'll call the police if that ever happens again. They better watch out for mom and us - we won't be so nice next time!!!

It seems that our yard is skunkless these days! Finn & I charged one in our backyard about a month ago, and Finn got sprayed. So mom has kept us inside as soon as it gets dark. But then last week the neighbor reported that her big dog killed 2 skunks in their back yard!!!! He sure wasn't allowed in the house. Dad gave them our special recipe for deskunking us: 1 quart 3% Hydrogen Peroxide, 1/4 cup Baking Soda and 1 teaspoon Dawn liquid soap. He's had to use it 3 times on us, and it always works! So the neighbors tried it and Blue is now allowed back in his house! Whew, we were feeling sorry for him. Mom was feeling sorry for the people!!!

But it turns out that now we're skunkless. I bet the rest of them moved on to a less dangerous neighborhood!

Swimming, well sort of . . .

What part of my name Terrier...originating from dog of the EARTH....indicates that I would like water? Today, I had to go through a humiliating experience in front of my brother and sister. I had to get into the swimming pool with mom!!! Swimming pools are WET from Water, not DRY or even MUDDY from Earth. She sat on the top step and held me in her lap. I did not move, hoping she would remember that she had an Earth Dog in the Water and return me immediately to dry land!!!! Then she decided that I needed to swim. Sheesh, I'm not a duck!!! I don't even float!!! I'm all muscle so I sink immediately. She held me in the water while I flailed around, very inefficiently creeping forward. She directed me back to the steps. She says she wants me to know about the steps in case I ever fall in. Forget the steps, I don't even want to go near that pool!!! I'm only interested in pooping on the cement around the pool. I'll show them!!!!

I've been chosen by Milly as Schnauzer of the Week in the Schnauzers Rule group!!! WOW, I'm so honored. I've received lots of presents from my pals, and they're going to have a thread where everyone gets to ask me questions. I can't wait for that!!! BOLBOLBOLBOL....

Mom & Dad are very proud of me. They said I've worked very hard to be a good schnauzer family member this year. We're sorry we haven't been around much for the past several months, there has just been a lot going on. So our whole family really appreciates this honor.

So on with the day ARRROOOOOOOOO, BOLBOLBOLBOLBOL....................
