Sadly, Chelsea lost her fight with Lymphoma on April 18, 2008.
After a small nosebleed, we went to the emergency clinic, where it was discovered that a tumor had developed and ruptured in her nasal area.
Realizing that she was rapidly losing this battle, we decided to give her a peaceful exit, and the rest she so richly deserved.

While our hearts are broken over her passing, we know that she is playing, once again, with her buddies, Ginger and Jackson, somewhere over the rainbow bridge.

Rest in peace, Sweet Chelsea.

Chelsea, my life so far...

I came to my mom, (at first she was my grandmom!), when my first mom had to move to an apartment. That's fine, 'cause I LOVE being in the country, with lots of room to fun; and I love to run!

I've had a great life here; 12 1/2 years so far! Always the best of everything; from food, exercise, affections, vet care.
I've had arthritis for a number of years, and a really messed up hip. But my mom and my vet (and my cousin in Alabama who is a new vet!), has seen that I have the best of medicines! They really help, and you wouldn't know I was supposed to be slowing down.

Speaking of vets, my mom found some swollen glands under my jaw, took me to the vet, and found out that I have Lymphoma. My mom was really sad at first, crying a lot, but then she seemed to get mad; not at me, but at the Lymphoma. So, she did some research, talked to our vets, and now (yuck) I get a lot of pills I have to take. But, Mom is easy about that, and she's found that I like peanut butter enough, so she 'hides the pills' in the peanut butter. I know they're there, but it sure makes it easier to take! Mom says that these pills are 'holistic' (whatever THAT is!), and since my food doesn't have any yucky chemicals in it, she thinks this will help.
The great news is, that since my diagnosis at the first of January, the glands have gone down in size, I've stopped this crazy shedding, and gained 3 pounds!
So, I guess this stuff is working!
Also, my mom tells me that we are going to get a new puppy this April, when she gets back from her vacation. She told me that I have to stay active and healthy, so that I can show this new puppy the rules. That's fine with me, 'cause I love puppies, babies, kittens...pretty much all other 'animals'.

I've been staying active, playing in the snow with mom and her grandchildren, and doing what I'm told.
I hope Mom realizes that I am trying hard to fight this disease, cause I want to be around here for a long time!
