You are in my mind today. Well, you are always in mind, but today you are soo close to me.
I have been getting flashes of you all day. You had such a big personality. Everyone knew you. Even all these years later, I have people asking me what happened to you. You never met a stranger and even when people said they didn't like dogs, you wore them down.
I think about how if there were construction crews in our neighborhood, you would stand right in the circle with them, getting your job assignment for the day, you were just that nosy.
I think about how food focused you were. I think about that cheese sandwhich you found in the field. I wouldn't let you eat it. It was nasty, but every day you would check to see if it was there. I remember the first week you came to us. I was cooking and the timer went off. You ran into the kitchen and looked at the oven. You knew what a timer was. You went to every picnic when we went to the lake even though you were invited to none of them.
But mostly I think about how happy you always looked everytime you would want to come in. You would just look at the storm door and smile and smile so glad to see me. And one day I'll see that smile again.
Finally, I want to say thank you for sending us Lucky. You knew that she needed us. You knew she needed someone who didn't care if she jumped up on furniture or chewed up a shoe. You knew we needed someone quiet and calm. So thank you for sending us Lucky.
Now, go back and finish eating that Chocolate covered ham.
I love you,
mama and daddy and Lucky, too.
