Arrival Story:
My husband and I fell in love with the Akita breed after we adopted our first Akita few months before. We wanted another one to make our family complete. She was our first internet purchase.

Bio:
Xena went blind during the summer of 2008, and she was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor and went through a course of radiation in January and February of 2009. She did wonderfully and although her sight did not come back, the radiation shrank the tumor and she was happy and pain-free for a few years. As she started getting older the health problems increased (seizures, hypothyroidism, her back legs giving out, loss of appetite, etc.) and she had no quality of life. We sent her to the Rainbow Bridge on December 4, 2012.
