Birthday: April 30th 2007 Likes: frisbees, big disgusting marrow bones, balls, torturing the cat, outsmarting me Pet-Peeves: lawn mowers/snow blowers/mean dogs Favorite Toy: Definitely the Flying Squirrel (frisbee). It's extra special because she is only allowed to play with it in the park! Favorite Food: meat meat meat! I've never met such a picky dog! Anything non-meat has to be hidden in her food or she picks it out! She doesn't even really like kibble. Strange pup, this one!! :p Favorite Walk: Anywhere I am. She especially loves it at the cottage or the ravine, where she can be off leash and go nuts. Best Tricks: She doesn't really know any tricks yet, other than the basic sit, down, stand, paw, stay, come (well, working on that one still!) and roll over. It's fantastic watching her leap up and catch a frisbee though....i often find myself searching for springs!! Arrival Story: Not too long after our Jadey suddenly left us, we realised how empty the house was without a dog around. My mum had had her eye on cattle dogs since she met her friend's ACD several years ago, so she started searching for puppies that were available asap. It was a rash decision, but being experienced with dogs, we knew it was a good one. We were lucky enough to find a beautiful puppy (at that time named Martina!) from an amazing and experienced breeder (Reddenblu up in Thunder Bay) and had our new baby shipped down to us a few weeks later. :) Bio: Lucy is a little over 5 months at the time of writing this and is already so smart and delightful. She even seems to be getting over the terrible puppy stage (I think if puppies weren't so cute they might be extinct :P) but even at her worst, we love her to bits!! The Groups I'm In: Australian Cattle Dog Food: We tried the raw diet approach for Lucy, but she hates raw meat!! She'd go DAYS without eating more than a few bites, but as soon as I started cooking it a little bit, she'd gobble it right down. So we feed her homemade meat stew (either chicken and carrot or beef and organ meat [eww]) mixed with some high-quality holistic kibble twice a day. She also gets a multivitamin with her breakfast, fish oil every other day and an egg a few times per week. For treats, we give her raw chicken necks and lamb bones/marrow bones. It's not a completely natural diet, but it's better than dog chow!!
