Arrival Story:
I first saw Natoli's picture on the athenspets.net site (shows the dogs available at Athens Animal Control shelter). Her name was Pebbles then, and I thought she was absolutely precious, but she was emaciated and anemic and her bio stated that she was only available to rescue groups. She was rescued by Helping Paws, and nursed back to health. I spotted that face again on September 23, 2007 on the Helping Paws adoptables list as "Madeline," and got in touch with her foster mom. I met her a few days later, then took Devi and Tara to meet her, filled out the application, and got to bring her home with me on October 9, 2007.

Bio:
I had a previous pup named Madelaine, so this one was renamed Natoli after a character in Mercedes Lackey's Mage Storms trilogy. 10/09/2007: I just brought her home this evening, so her biography will be added to as her life progresses. Natoli's behavior appears to imply that she was been beaten before arriving at Animal Control (she's very anxious about strangers petting her/having a hand above her head and body). I think she's learning to trust people now and will continue to improve with more socialization. 10/19/2007 - Natoli was diagnosed with HOD on the 12th. She's having a rough time, but I'm hopeful that she'll get through it. 11-08-2007 - Natoli has her good and bad days with the HOD, but mostly good now. She's off the Clavamox and Rimadyl, baby aspirin seemed to help her last time she had pain and fever. She's put on weight and is about the same height as Devi now. 08/25/2008: Natoli stopped having HOD symptoms after December, and grew up to be a gorgeous happy dog. Early this year, her tail curled up (like a Shar-Pei coin tail).
