Arrival Story:
I got Katie 4 months after having to put down my beloved 9 year old Golden Retriever Brandy who had Mass Cell Cancer. I picked her up on Brandy's 10th birthday.

Katie has an auto-immune disease in her head called Mascatory Myositis. She can only get her mouth open a little bit past her long canine's but that does not stop her from eating.... She has lost all the muscle in her head and it has a skeletal-like apperance. I believe chiopractic and acupuncture has saved Katie and allowed her to live this long. She is really a happy and wonderful companion. She just turned 9 in April, which is a miricale to me - she is a miricale to me. 7/31/2009 Katie was put to peace today. She developed Kidney disease - we believe as an side effect to the Myositis. Mom and Katie tried everything to extend Katie's life but with her immune system already compromised the disease spread rapidly to the point where Katie was in so much discomfort and pain it was for the better. I hope she is now pain free and with her sister Brandy............

I just picked up Katie's cremation remains this morning. I feel so much better having her back with me.

They really did a beautiful job and I thank Delaware Pet Cremation for that.

She's at peace. . . . . .

As you are all aware I had to let Katie go last Friday, she was suffering so.

She was ready and I was there with her as she closed her eyes for the last time. (tears) She went peaceably and and gracefully.

I miss her so much! But I am so glad she is in no more pain and will suffer no more. She was my laughter in life, such as Brandy was my sunshine.

Brie and I thank everyone so much for their support and encouragement during these last few weeks - It really meant so much to us.

We are coping the best we can and have each other still.

Thank you all,
Gail & Brie

I think tomorrow is going to be Katie's last day.

I was hoping for maybe Monday but she's in so much misery....
She won't eat, all she does is lay outside, her legs tremble while walking - she can barley make it up the steps. I have a hard time getting her medication down, and even then it is just a few of the many medications she is on, I don't think she can hear anymore, she has both an ear infection and a huge hot spot on her back inside leg.

Watching her it torturous. When she is outside laying flies are all over her and she doesn't even have the energy to care.

I think it's time to let her out of her misery....... :(
