Arrival Story: My mother and I went into our vet's office to take one of our pets in for a check-up, and I saw Peg behind the desk of the office tied to a chair, wagging her tail and pulling toward me. I asked about her and they told us she was a desexed "Pit Bull"/Pharoah Hound mix and that she needed a family.
We found out that she had originally been hit by a car and left at the side of the road (a hit-and-run victim) and had just had a litter of pups. A good samaritan brought her in and payed for her to get her broken leg fixed, and the desexed her as well, but the lady couldn't keep her. We also found out that she was shelter-bound because despite the fact that there were a lot of interested families, once they heard she had "Pit Bull" in her, they were suddenly no longer interested. Not wanting her to go to the shelter, which would have no doubt put her down immediately (it was an extremely high-kill facility at the time and Pit Bull breeds didn't stand a chance). By gravelling and begging we were finally able to convince David (who kept insisting she was purebred PH as he despised all "Pit Bulls"), my ex-father, to let us keep her.

I've Been On Dogster Since:
Maybe it's just me, but lately it seems like more and more people have that "internet = serious business" mindset going on. More people need to lighten up, it's just the dang internet, and everyone has opinions, it's their right to, why do fights break out about them unless the person is being out of control (swearing, typing in all caps, name calling, etc) about it? If we all had the exact opinion or viewpoint on every single topic, and if everyone was ultra serious about every little thing, this world would be awfully uninteresting, wouldn't it? Another thing is, people also need to stop taking everything so literally, I see that so frequently and it causes a lot of upset; granted sometimes it is hard to tell people's intents just based off a statement on line since you cannot hear their tone, but people need to just, at least once in awhile, give people the benefit of the doubt unless they are blatantly being insulting. Meh, just something that's been bugging me lately a bit.
