Birthday: July 7th 1998 Likes: sunning on the deck Pet-Peeves: I REALLY dislike getting on the wet grass. Favorite Toy: Not big on toys, just treats. Favorite Food: Peppermints. Favorite Walk: I love to go on the pathfinder walkway - lots of great smells! Best Tricks: I am pretty great at catching treats in the air. Arrival Story: Daddy would drive by the SPCA every day. One day Puppy was outside in a fenced area. Daddy spotted him immediately and got out and petted Puppy. He came home and told Mommy about him and after a few days they met up at the SPCA. They found out that his original owner had left him there for killing chickens. His name was Weasel. He was 9 months old. He was so sweet and loving, we took him home and he has been our big baby ever since! Forums Motto: Don't move unless its an emergency. Dad took Puppy in yesterday (Wednesday 7/22/09) to the vet. We had to have him put to sleep. He has been suffering for some time with a tick disease. It wasn't lyme disease, but he had lost all of his muscle mass. He quit eating and just in the last week he had lost 5 lbs. You could his rib cage and back bone. He was fading away.
Dad and Mom cried all week because we knew it was coming. We were basically keeping him alive for our own selves. We decided he was uncomfortable and getting too weak. It was time.
We will have wonderful memories of Puppy. He was a sweet boy. He was loving, and cuddly. Now he will be up in heaven with Little Girl. I know that God created beautiful little animals and has a special place for them. I can see them all together now and he is no longer in pain.
Well, I haven't written in a while. A year ago Little Girl and I got out chasing a possum and we had a good old time. However, my best friend got run over and that is why we got Duke. Then, this past winter Princess, the little old weiner dog died so it was just us boys...until 2 days ago.
It has been nice and quiet - we were just laying around and mom brought home this little girl puppy. I wasn't sure about her at first. She laid down really still and me and Duke smelled her. She slept with mom and I didn't like that.
The next day after she followed me around the yard and kept licking my face I decided she was just too cute. The only thing I don't know about is sharing my couch with her. She's put a little spring back into my step!
Okay, well the new Pup (Duke), is not so bad after all. He is still annoying because he tears around the house with his baby ducky thingy, and he tries to jump on the couch whenever I want up there. But, he does try to play with me.
The other day he let me jump on his back and play with him. That was kind of fun! Then, he rolled over on the ground and he wrestled with me. FINALLY, another guy dog to waller with! I've had all these girly dogs around me. So, this is what it's like to be a guy dog. After 10 years now, I think I am finallylearning how to have fun! I chased Duke all around the pool and he let me jump on him again. This old guy still has it in him!
Last night Princess and Duke were on the love seat with Mom. Mom invited me up there too. Usually I don't like to get too close to the new pup. However, I went ahead and got up there and we all snuggled. It was nice. I think we are going to be buddies after all.
