Arrival Story: From my mom:
Calvin's story is a work in progress. In short, Calvin arrived in my arms with a lot of love to give. He was a late rescue in New Orleans after Katrina, which means he spent an awful lot of time on his own, He arrived at the rescue station with a badly injured tail, which eventually had to be amputated. He was such a trooper through all of the surgeries and recovery, and despite all that he has been through, he is still absolutely sweet and trusting, and WONDERFUL. He was heartworm positive when he arrived at the sanctuary where I worked at the time, but he made it through the treatment with flying colors and he is negative forever now =o)
He is a treasure beyond compare. He is funny, sweet, brave, sensitive, and ...well... Calvin is magnificent in every way. What I ever did to deserve his friendship, I will never know. But I sure don't take him for granted.
We moved from Kanab to Denver in 2006, and although we miss the sanctuary and the many friends there, Calvin lovces the cold weather and the snow so much. If he could thank everyone who helped him, I know he would. A HUGE thanks to our favorite girl Carey, who comes to visit all the time, and to Don...who reminded Calvin that he is somebody.
Bio: My friend Carey wrote the following article for Best Friends about Calvin:

.....Afgh an Hound!!!!!!
We are all still trying to see where the Afghan Hound comes in.
I am still 100% Yellow Miracledog, asfar as my mom and dad are concerned! And I am still 100% in love with my dear darling Biscotte in Gatineau, Quebec!!
I'm yellow. That's what I know. When people say things like "Ooohhh! What kind of dog is he?" when they see me with my mom and dad, mom and dad just smile and tell the person that I am a "Yellow Miracledog". Sometimes people who seem to know it all say that I could be Chow Chow, or Akita and Yello Lab (whatever in the world all of those names are, I have no idea) but nobody ever just accepts my mom and dad's "Yellow Miracledog" answer.
So..... my dad got me a little DNA test kit from BioPet! All I had to do was spit on a q-tip. We mailed it back to the BioPet Lab and in the next couple of weeks, we will know more about what kind of dogs my mommy and daddy were! I have my human mommy and daddy now and they are my real parents, but mom says that sometimes it is interesting to humans to know these things for health reasons.
All I know is that I am Yellow and I love Biscotte. That is all I need to know to be the happiest dog in the land!
I suppose it is no secret that I am in love with Biscotte. I realize now that I have not written about my lovely girl in my diary!
Biscotte is as lovely as can be. We were meant to be together! We met over the internet, right here on dogster, and we are trying to get our moms and dads to let us meet. You see, my darling girl lives exactly 1774 miles from my house, and that is just too far! She is as beautiful as the newly fallen snow (we both love snow) and as sweet as honey. She is thoughtful, funny, and she looks so soft! She speaks French.
Wow, I'm a lucky guy. My wish for Biscotte this Christmas is that she has plenty of soft snow to play in, and that she wakes every day knowing that she is loved by her Calvin 100%.
