Arrival Story:
We got Gracie from a Breeder in Loudan, TN - Kristari Kennels. Our first Husky, and my first dog ever, Ellie, passed away as a result of Epilepsy. I was quite skeptical about getting another Husky, but after talking to this Breeder, we agreed to pay her a visit. Once there, she showed us two puppies we could chose from - Gracie and a little fatter, darker little girl that I liked. The Breeder was not planning to show Gracie because she had freckels on her nose, and the Breeder preferred a "clean" nose. The Breeder was not yet ready to part with the other little girl as she was waiting to see how her front legs lined up. My husband made it quite clear that he was not leaving without a dog, so we brought Gracie home. My girl friend, who is not a pet person, but who went along for moral support, held her the whole way home and they both slept the whole way too! Gracie is a great dog - she loves to be around us and anyone who comes to visit.

She just turned 4 years old and is getting to be a bit of a chubby girl! Problem is she likes treats and any other food then her dog food most of the time. She gets a lot of exercise, especially at day care, but she needs to drop about 10 pounds! We switched to the low fat dog food, so we'll see how it goes!

This is our first diary entry/update in a while, but it’s been a busy summer just basically taking care of me – hence the “Cha-Ching” part of the entry from Mum!! Long story short, I hurt my right leg and was not able to walk on it. We knew I had arthritis in both “knees” and was going to acupuncture for that, but it really was not working too well. Come to find out, I tore my right ACL and Meniscus and had to have these repaired! Daddy had to take me all the way to Atlanta (2 hours away) to see Dr. Winkler at Georgia Veterinary Center, who took really good care of me and fixed up my knee! One day before Mum & Dada left on their vacation, I got to come home and I had round-the-clock babysitters for me and Kelly – which is where the “Cha-ching” part comes in again! Mum & Dad had this vacation planned for a year, so I had to let them go; and since I was pretty much out of it on pain meds, I didn’t really notice for the first couple of days!! Any-paws, I got my staples out 3 weeks ago, and just got to increasing my walking time, but still can’t run and still have to go outside on the stupid leash! Luckily it is getting kind of hot outside and I do not really want to be out there for long periods of time, but I don’t let on to my Daddy cause I do like for him to take me in & out a lot, especially if I think I missed something the first time and just want a 2nd look at it! I have to go back to see Dr. Winkler next week, so I will make sure that Mum sends another update soon!
