February 2nd 2003

She loves dancing, jumping and spinning, loves to be cuddled and petted, she loves her food. She loves to wrestle on the bed with her mom. MacKenzie waits all day to see her dad and go for a walk with him. She likes to pee on the floor!

loud noises, not getting any attention, doesn't like to go out to the potty site when the grass is wet or when it's raining.

Favorite Toy:
She loves her bully stick chewies, likes to chew paper and get into things she shouldn't.

Favorite Food:
MacKenzie eats Canidae, Solid Gold, and Wellness canned food for seniors. She also gets fresh human grade food such as eggs, salmon, and chicken on the weekends, cooked in our kitchen She loves all her food really, but she seems especially fond of chicken

Favorite Walk:
MacKenzie loves to go for walks with her dad around the nieghborhood, to the park, to the dog park and to the rose garden.

Best Tricks:
Tattle-telling on Connor, tearing up all the tissues in the tissue box, jumping up, spinning when she's excited, barking her fool head off at anything or nothing at all, making soft cooing noises when she's tired, and falling asleep while being brushed.

Arrival Story:
We adopted MacKenzie from a local sheltie rescue operation called The Sheltie Shack. She was very affectionate and kept coming up to us for attention and pets. She was one of two shelties we adopted that day. The other one was her kennel sibling, Conchobar (Connor). He too is very affectionate.

MacKenzie spent the first 4 years of her life breeding. She has had several litters that we know of, I believe. But that part of her life is now over. She will spend the rest of her life as a pampered pet, going to the dog park, sleeping on the bed, eating a fresh diet and getting old and fat like the rest of us!

Good Bye My Friends

I'm sorry I had to leave my family and friends Monday July 25th at 6:30 in the evening. I was too sick to fight the terrible, terrible hidden cancer that had taken over my body while I was living such a happy life with my family. No one knew that the cancer was there, not my vet, not even me. I was so lucky to have been able to spend the last year of my life with my mom at home. She wasn't working that whole time that the cancer was building up inside me. I was so happy to be able to play with my mom whenever I wanted that the cancer just stayed away long enough to let me enjoy my time with my mom. I would ask her to take me to the park, and she would! I had picnics, walks in the rose garden, walks around my neighborhood, and trips to the dog park too. We would wrestle on the Big Bed together and take naps together. I really loved it when she would brush my fur, put the pretty bows that she made for me in my fur, and pet me till I fell asleep. And when the cancer made too sick to be able to do those things anymore, I was ready for my rest. My mom was MY best friend that day. Don't cry for me my friends. I'm at Rainbow Bridge where Cuailgne met me and showed me the big blue lake that us pups can sit by and when the water is very still we can see you all! I love you. I love you mom, dad, Connor, my friends Kylie and Rani and all my other Pals.I'll keep a place for you all here at Rainbow Bridge. xoxoxoxo xoxoxoxoxo

I'm off my food today

Well, I'm not eating much today. My tummy must be upset because I just didn't feel like eating my breakfast of Canidae canned dog food with peas. Later when my dad came home he cut up a hard boiled egg which I usually love, but I just didn't feel like eating it. My mom's been sitting with me, brushing my fur, petting me, and she even put in new brown and pink polka dot bows for me! That made me feel special and a teeny tiny bit better.I don't know what could be wrong...

Bath time

I guess it was time I had another bath. My mom was very gentle with me, but it was still scarey. My feet slipped, and I didn't like the sound the sprayer made, but I didn't bolt out of the sink. I have unscented shampoo and conditioner. It made my fur really shiny which I liked. I'm sure the boys will notice that at the dog park! After the bath I got a peanut butter snack and my mom held me close and dried me with a really fluffy towel. I always like that! Then we went out to the porch where it was a really nice day out. Not too hot. My mom brushed me and spoke soft words to me and gave me lots of kisses. She told me what a good girl I was. Soon I was sleeping in the sun with the birds chirping. I woke up later when Marley from up the street came by with his human. Both Connor and me gave him the what-fur!
