Arrival Story: Angel was found in Southern Illinois as a stray wandering near a golf course. She had severe entropion in both eyes, which after 2 weeks of ointment has been down graded to mild to moderate. She is a wonderful, beautiful dog. This is my first time as a foster mom and I couldn't be more proud of this cuddly little girl. She is GREAT with other dogs her size. We have some Pugs in the family and she is not aggressive towards them, but she does look at them like they are aliens from another planet. She absolutely loves children as well. She is about one year and weighs about 38 pounds. She is still a puppy and loves to play.
Bio: Entropion is an inward folding of the eyelid in dogs and can be surgically treated. Left untreated, severe eye infections may develop and potentially lead to blindness. Angel needed two eye surgeries. The first time the Vet tried Laser surgery and that wasn't enough. The second entropion surgery was traditional and that seems to have done the trick. Angel can see just fine. The Vet's at Animal Control said she was blind in one eye and almost blind in the other. She was on the list to be euthanized. After two surgeries she's fully sighted. She may have a touch of allergy's, too.

The people say I'm a Chow Chow and a kind Animal Control Officer found me lost and walking alone near a golf course. I heard they have a lot of balls there but, I couldn't see any. Were they that small?
The Vet said I was blind in one eye and not much sight in the other ~ my eyes were gooey and a mess. They put me on the list to "go to sleep" I didn't understand... I wasn't tired... I'm not even a year old!
I'm so glad Pat came in and said she'd find me a home...don't worry! Everyday life is better. They thought I have entropion but, when Pat took me for a sleepover at her house she noticed my eyes were great in the house but, after a long walk they started to run...what's an allergy?
Wow going to Pat's house was really neat! I used to be outside...the flies were at my ears ~ my eyes were bad ~ it also could be that some man was not nice to me as I was sooo afraid of the man in Pat's house. It took a few days but, Jerry was kind, loving and gentle...he even put pillows on the floor and would lay there with me rubbing my tummy. Jerry also bought me flea stuff cause he said I had a few. Laurie ~ can you check me for fleas, too? they tickle.
She truly is an Angel ~ one of the best ever full of love & kisses ~ hate to see her go!

Well, it has been about a week since the surgery, still stuck with this lamp shade on my head and my eyes are still itchy and swollen and if it werent for my foster mommy wiping away the drippy part that runs onto my fur away I would look even worse. This whole situation is really crappy, but foster mommy says it will all be worth it in the end. It better be. Although I have learned how to harrass people with my lamp shade, I dont think the people like it very much when I ram into them with my shade. Hehe ...woof woof
You cannot keep a good girl down... And I, as I am not several times a day... am a good girl
Wish me luck at the vet on Friday..... the Dr. is going to check my progress (maybe the lamp shade will get to come off)
Well, I guess they say the surgery went ok, but then why oh why do I have to wear this stupid HUGE white coller that makes it so I bump into things and knocks things over... not to mention what all of the other dogs must think. I look like a doggy lamp. My eyes are really ITCHY and it is really hard to open them. Foster mom says that I will feel better in a few days..... not sure I can stand the humiliation that long. Foster mom says I am beautiful even with this stupid thing. Maybe SHE is the one going blind???
