Leave a bone for Leroy

Nicknames: BruceLeroy,Butthead,Stinky,Fatboy

Quick Bio:
| -purebred | -pound dog | -dog rescue | |
Likes: go for rides, go to the park, play with suffed animals, meet people, going to the pet store

Pet-Peeves: cold weather (he shivers like a senior citizen), walking in snow, getting his nails cut, cleaning his ears, cats and small mouthy dogs (getting better though)

Favorite Toy: any stuffed animals

Favorite Food: bones & Beggin Strips.....he'll do anything for one

Favorite Walk: in the park

Best Tricks: waiving "HI", opening doors

Arrival Story: Leroy was the same size, but weighed about 27lbs. when we got him from the shelter where he waited for almost a year for someone to to just give him a chance. He was about a week away from being put down to make room for other dogs. He was the first dog that I looked at. That was on a Sunday. I went to visit him everyday after (sneaking him Beggin strips) until I could take him home.

Bio: I don't think I realized how skinny and scarred up he was when I first brought him home. Whenever I showed him to friends/family, they would look at me like I was crazy and him like he was a scavenger......within a few months he almost doubled in weight and nearly all of his scars were gone. He remained a little timid sometimes and agressive with other dogs, but LOVED people, and he was obsessed with his mom(which really aggravates me because she didn't want him at first).......After being the only child for almost three years we were blessed with a baby girl. Everyone tried to convince us that we should get rid of Leroy because he was a "Pit Bull", and would be jealous of the baby because of how attached to his mother he was. He proved everyone wrong and was just as loving , and more protective of his baby sister, blocking her from climbing the stairs when she was learning to crawl, and letting us know that she was up to no good when we'd leave the room for a moment....If you don't like Pit Bulls because of what you see on the news please read a little about the breed they are the greatest dogs. And if your looking for a dog check the rescue sights and shelters they have every single breed just waiting for someone to give them a chance at a happy life!
*******************************
Sadly on Memorial Day Weekend of 2007 Leroy was sent to Rainbow Bridge. It hurts like nothing I have ever felt in a very long time, even to write this, but I thought it would be the best way for him to be remembered. I will ALWAYS remember and cherish the time that we were blessed to have Leroy in our life. He taught so many people that there is so much more to his breed than people know.
