Today is my Gotcha Day. I have a Gotcha Day instead of a Woofday, because nobody knows my birthday. I was adopted on September 16, 2006. Today I've had so many well wishes from old Dogster friends and new ones. It made me feel really special. When mom got home from work, the whole family went on a long walk. Then all three of us got brushed. (how is that a good birthday present?) No, really, I do like getting brushed. Later, mom and dad sang Happy Birthday to me, and we all got a pupcake from Three Dog Bakery. Chad and I got presents - we get presents for each others' birthdays so nobody gets jealous. We got pink bunny slippers, complete with squeakers. Before long, I had them both. Believe it or not, I haven't taken the stuffing out of either one of them. Maybe I'm growing out of that stage? Nah... We all three got a scoop of pumpkin while mom and dad had dinner. What a day! Treats and presents. I even got a Heartguard this morning. That would have been enough to make my day. BOL!

Today we went to the dog park. Mom and Chad were wondering around talking to people, and when she realized she hadn't seen me in a little while, she started looking for me. When she got near the pavilion, she could see the red tail-end of a dog on top of one of the picnic tables. She said "please tell me that isn't my dog!", but guess what? It was me! I was so proud of myself, and people were laughing at me. I felt like I was the king of the dogpark.

A few nights ago, I needed to go outside in the middle of the night. (Well, I probably didn't really need to go out, but when I wake up, I get lonely, so I wake up my mom too). Anyway, she got up and took Bogie, Chad and me outside. As we ran out the back door, she saw a big "critter" in the far corner of the backyard. We saw it too, and we took off to chase it down. Mom started screaming, and Chad the Chicken ran right back to her. Bogie and I didn't listen. The critter ran through the plastic fencing (that is supposed to keep us out of the hostas) and I jumped right over it. WOW, mom really started screaming then. I decided she really wanted me to come, so I jumped out of the garden and headed her way. Then the critter waddled out of the garden, and towards the other end of the back yard. I was torn - be a good boy and come to mom, or chase that thing? In the end, I made the right choice, and mom hustled us all in the house. Not only had mom woken up dad, but probably all of the neighbors too. Mom was so flustered that she couldn't even tell dad if the critter was a possum or a racoon. Either way, when we all went back to bed, she told me that she was glad that it didn't eat me, because she said all she could think of was having to go to the emergency vet in her pajamas that didn't match. It was all very exciting, and definitely worth waking up for.
