Mom and I don't sleep in very long this morning either. Mom is use to working all night, so when we sleep on the weekends, it takes awhile to get back into her weekly schedule. Mom goes to sleep around 4 p.m. on Sundays, only to get up around 9 p.m., and goes to work at 10:30 p.m. We go over to Auntie and Grandma's house around 10:30 p.m. and when I go to get on Auntie's bed, I end up falling off. I think most of it was Petey's fault because he got in the way at the last minute, but I suppose he was just excited to see me. Youth gets you a lot of pardons. Of course nothing was pardoned when Petey chewed on the binding of Auntie's new book this evening. Petey got "banned" from Auntie's room for awhile and now he has hidden somewhere. We will have to play a little game of hide a seek before everyone goes to bed.
Grandma made roast beef for lunch and Petey and I get a small bowl of the cut up meat. Auntie decides to stay behind this afternoon, so the rest of us pile in the car and go to Chanute. Grandma takes us to Santa Fe Park and mom walks me around for a long time. Then mom takes Petey for a walk around the park and Grandma takes me. I am more subdued than Petey and Grandma can "control" me on a leash better than she can Petey. We get drinks at Sonic and then head home to Auntie. Mom gives me hugs and kisses good-bye before walking home to rest before work. Auntie gets up to take us on our evening car ride and Grandma feeds me and Petey Beggin Strips while Auntie feeds the stray cats. We bed down the kittens and give them their medicine and soon it will be time for bed. Another weekend has come and gone...
Mom and I get up pretty early this morning since we both slept all night. Of course it isn't long before mom is locking me inside the house and walking over to Auntie and Grandma's house to go on their weekly shopping trip. This doesn't bother me as much as it does Petey, but then he is confined to his crate, whereas I have the entire house to roam. It is just after 12 noon when I hear a slight toot of the car horn and I race to the office window. Auntie is waving from the driver's seat and mom is getting her groceries from the trunk. Mom walks in and I welcome home. I help mom put away the groceries, go outside to take care of business and soon we are walking over to Auntie and Grandma's house. We actually hang around the house until almost 3 p.m. and then Auntie asks me and Petey if we are ready for a car ride. I go out in the car with Auntie and she fills up the cat food containers and we wait for the rest of the family to join us. I sit on mom's lap on the ride to Iola. Petey has begun to enjoy lying on the floor at mom's feet when we go for rides. We get drinks at Sonic and then drive the short distance to feed the cats at Grandma's brother's house. We enjoy a nice drive around his town and bark at all of the dogs that we see. Mom sees her friend, but even though he stops in the road to chat with us, no one can hear the other talk between me and Petey barking our heads off. We drive back to Iola and mom and Auntie go into Wal-Mart while Grandma sits out in the car with me and Petey. We get ice cream at Dairy Queen and then we take the country roads home. Auntie keeps pointing out country dogs, but none of them run out in the road after us and Petey and I have trouble actually seeing them through all of the road dust. We feed the cats in town before finally going back to Auntie and Grandma's house. Mom and I hang out all evening, in between Petey jumping all over us. Mom and I will walk home soon, but at least I have my real leash tonight and we won't have to use that shoe string again!
Auntie did pretty well at sleeping last night, but this time I get her up. I wake her up by walking around and around in circles on the bed and then getting up to stand by the bedroom door. This is at 4:45 a.m., but Auntie gets up with me and takes me outside. When the alarm goes off at 6:30 a.m., I don't move to get up, because I don't have to! Mom comes in at 8 a.m. and we hurry home to eat breakfast. This morning I try one of my new Chef Michael's dinners and lick the plate clean. At 10 a.m., Auntie and Petey come over to pick us up and we go up town to run errands. Petey and I get milk bones at the bank and bark at the squirrels that we see in the park. We go out on the country roads and we bark at the fake deer and a dead possum and a dead skunk lying in the road. Petey is like me... will bark like crazy if it is far away, but will rear back when it gets closer. We get dropped off and mom promises me a Denta Stix when we go inside. Mom and I hang out until finally mom is ready for bed. Auntie and Petey come to pick me up at 3:45 p.m. and I am ready to go. Auntie takes us on a car ride and we do a few errands. Petey and I bark at all of the dogs that we see. They seem to come out around 4 p.m. for walks and such, because we always see a lot. I hang out with Auntie until after 6 p.m. when we go over to pick up mom for our nightly car ride. We feed the stray cats and then go back to Auntie and Grandma's house for dinner. Petey and I play with mom until it is time to go home. Mom has forgotten my collar and leash, so we use Petey's collar and mom finds two shoelaces to tie together for a leash. Mom laughs at me, but the shoelace works, so I am not going to complain about it. I am just glad that I get to sleep with mom tonight!
A very Happy Birthday to my friend, Annie Marie on November 7th. Happy Birthday Annie Marie!!
