Likes:
He is a big cuddle bunny! He wants to be petted all the time. Conchobar loves his food! He's getting used to a new 'fresh diet' and is trying chicken and salmon mixed with chicken broth.

Pet-Peeves:
He doesn't like when he doesn't get the attention he deserves. Even at night, he will wake us up for pets. He doesn't like to be alone even for a second, another dog getting attention when he's not. He doesn't like to ride in the car for long.

Favorite Toy:
his Kong. He doesn't really play with toys very much. He likes to wrestle with mom sometimes.

Favorite Food:
chicken, split pea soup, mackeral, tuna, green beans, chicken liver bites, and the occasional beef bone.

Favorite Walk:
the dog park, the neighborhood, the state hospital grounds

Best Tricks:
Spinning at the door to greet us when we come home, hopping up on the chiase lounge where he likes to sleep while we are working in the office, and he loves to snuggle.

Arrival Story:
When our Lindsay passed away this July, we were devastated. We miss her every day and we will never "get over" her loss. But we thought, after a time that it was right that we open our hearts and our home to another dog who needed a home just as our Lindsay did so many years ago. We began to look around, and to think about our lifestyle, and most importantly to think about what our 12 year old retriever would need in order to accept another member of the pac. We thought a sheltie would fit the bill. So we did some research about organizations that do sheltie rescue and we found a great place not too far from where we live called The Sheltie Shack, www.sheltieshack.com. We filled out the adoption application and after our references were checked, we were invited to come to the site. The volunteer was very knowledgable about all the dogs in her care, and she was very intuitive about us. We brought our retriever Cuailgne ("Kool-Lee") and she helped us pick out some possible adoptees. Of course, in the end it was very difficult to choose just one! So we chose two. Conchobar was one. MacKenzie was the other. Conchobar was very affectionate and he had those too cute ears. He was also 8 years old and we felt he might have a hard time finding a home. He had been a breeder dog all his life. That was it for us! We wanted to bring him home and show him how beautiful life can be. He comes home September 22, 2007.

Bio:
Conchobar MacNessa is named after the greatest High King of Ireland. MacNessa was the ideal King and there are lots of stories about his very successful reign. I thought our little boy deserved a very regal name because I just know he will find his new life to be as big and legendary as that King of old. He will live an epic life from now on!!

Connor has crossed to Rainbow Bridge

Our Little Big Man Conchobar Mac Nessa, King of my heart, left us and crossed to Rainbow Bridge on December 25th, 2011 at 8:45 in the morning. He was 12 years and 10 months old. He lived as long as his kidneys could support his tiny body. He crossed quickly and without a lingering painful death which we are grateful for. He now sleeps in a soft bed beside a warm fire next to his MacKenzie Girl and fur sisters Cuailgne and Lindsay. We will miss his voice in the middle of the night and how he would put his little paw on our knee to ask for a snack. Marley, his arch enemy from up the street will now get a free pass on our side walk. Our neighbors will hear a quieter porch. His best friends Rani, Kylie, and his fur sister Kenny, mourn his passing, and like his human care givers will honor his memory forever. The world will be a little less bright without him. Our hearts will always hold our King Connor dear.

The pumpkin patch

Mom planted pumpkins in the spring and now they are taking over MY yard! I can't charge the fence and bark at our neighbors, or bark at Marley from up the street when he dares to walk by my sidewalk with his human. Ya know, if I didn't know better, I'd think mom was trying to keep me away from the fence. But why would she do that? Hmmmmmm.

I love my new Cool Bed II

Wow! I'm sleeping every night in my new Cool Bed II. It was pretty hot the other night so I was glad to have a place to go to cool off. So if any of you pups out there are looking for a way to keep cool this summer, I'd suggest giving Cool Bed II a try.And my mom also got me a little fan so I could have some air blowing right over me. I love that, let me tell you! So I have a pretty nice sleeping area in my little place next to the book case. Of course, I can always hop up onto the THE BIG BED whenever I want. I like to be up there by my dad's feet when there's a thunder storm. xoxoxo
