Arrival Story: After many months after Maggie's passing, I felt I was ready to open my heart again. But I could not "mentally" handle being a new "owner" again. Seth, my boyfriend, too wanted a dog, so he "claimed" Sam. SO- I started volunteering at the local Humane Society. I saw Sam briefly but had an eye on another dog "for" Seth. Seth had been working a lot lately and could not come in to see the dog, so we went on the their website, but the dog was not there....but "Samson" was. I saw his picture and fell in love. I told Seth that he was the one- that he was going to get Sam. (Kind of made the decision for him.) So I called about him the next day- all was going good until I said I had a boyfriend and it was kind of going to be his buddy... They then informed me that Sam did not do good with males, that he would growl and bark and shy away- and who knows what he was capable of. But after talking we figured that we should still come in and see how Sam would react. So after Seth got off work early that day- he rushed over there and met us. At first Sam was scared but Seth got down on his level and "rough" played with him. It was an almost hit with Sam and Seth. We played and spent some time with him at the Humane Society and talked with the lady. She warned us about chows and how it can be hard reading them sometimes. This was actually Seth's 2nd chow mix so we all felt comfortable with it. He pretty much had his tail up the whole time we were there. (Good sign) We then discussed it for a little bit and pretty much said "OK" and then the lady had then warned us that, well, he gets car sick.....bad- meaning drooling and tossing his cookies..... again we talked it out and figured it's possible something we can work out with him. Before we knew it- we were signing papers and a check and receiving dog tags and a new dog. Later we found out that we were his 3 or 4 home (and he wasn't even a year old). One family- they were warned that he gets car sick...they brought him back the next day with a questioned face "He gets car sick really bad?.?.?." All the lady at the Humane Society could saw was "Duh!"

Bio: He has been with us for a couple months and doing Great! He does not bark or growl or anything in that nature towards us. He is a little frighted of new people though... but he's just a talker and then runs. HeH. However!! If there is another dog with the new person- he doesn't care- he keeps that tail up and greets them. He's been a good boy- though he definitely has chow- listens when he wants too. :-p But that's ok, he is still learning.
