Over the Rainbow

On Wednesday, January 7th, Rufus suddenly became very sick. A mass was found on his spleen that had ruptured, leaking blood into his abdomen. He underwent emergency surgery, but died late in the day on Thursday. We feel cheated for all the time we will not get to spend with our boy, and extremely blessed for the time we did have with him. He will be sorely missed.

SNOW!!!! WOOOHOOOO!!!!!!

YIPPPEEEEEE!!!!! The first real snow of the year finally came!!!! It snowed for almost 3 days straight! Mom and dad had to keep going outside to shovel, and I had so much snow to chase!!! Such FUN! Dad has this big red machine that eats the snow and spits it out somewhere else. Most of the snow gets spit out over the fence, where I am waiting on the other side!! There is nothing better!!! OH BOY OH BOY!!! And it's nice and COLD too! What more could I ask for? Oh, yes, do throw me a snowball! Another! And Another! Oh this is great! Where are you going? What do you mean you're going inside? Really? But I want to play....one more snowball? Pleeeeeaaase? Pretty please? OH BOY OH BOY! SNOW!!!! More, More!!!

Happy Holidays!

Wow....what a great day I had! First, dad has been home with me all day....all week! Such FUN! Dad took me to the park EVERY DAY!!! I got to play with Codie and Brady ALL WEEK!!! WOW! Then on this "Thanksgiving Day" both mom and dad were home all day, and then all these other people came over. Most of them I remember, but one was new. And while they all got to eat all kinds of wonderfully smelling things, I got a massive marrow bone! Then we all went out for a walk! And I got a pig ear while they had deserts. Very soon after everyone left, mom went to bed. (she's been working late) But such a great day!!!! I think I like Thanksgiving. But next time it comes around I need to work in more rounds of ball....

AFter the Rain....

Oh boy Oh boy Oh boy!!!! We went to the park right after it had rained for most of a day. I found the best mud puddle to cool off in. Dad didn't seem to like me laying there much. Maybe he wants to cool off too? No, well, all the more for me then! What? Time to go? Sure! Back in the car! Hmmm, he's looking at the back seat and shaking his head. Does he think I'm psychic? Is something wrong with him? Guess not, here we go. Ahhh....home! HI MOM! WE'RE BACK! Did you miss us? Huh? What do you mean I'm all dirty? I had great fun! Oh boy....brushes! WooHoo! Yes, I'll stay right here while you brush me. Yes sirrreeee, the day after the rain is always a great day! Where's my good boy cookie?

1. I love to collect all the balls at the park into one pile at my side.
2. I think early morning jogging sessions are better when it's super early in the morning and really cold. (My mom doesn't agree)

5. I finally figured out how to open the front door...and mom started locking the door. Now how to work that lock???
6. Riding in the car is my second favorite thing to do. I don't care where we go! The car is great!!

Weekend Getaway

Me and Mom and Dad all went away for the weekend. We went to a place called Paws House in Vermont. It was awesome! This place was set up with me in mind!! I met Sadie and Harley, and Cooper, and Digby, and Meeghan, and Sadie II, and Charley....and we played and played and played!!! There was a great big area outside like the dog park where we all played and ran around. And at night, when it got too cold for our humans, they had an inside play area too! We just moved inside so the humans would all stay warm and we all kept on playing!! We hiked up a mountain too! I took a nice nap in the car on the way home and had great dreams about playing with all my new friends. I hope I see them when we go back there next summer!!! I give the Paws House two big paws up!!! Finally there is a place that is all about us dogs!!!

What's wrong with mud??

It's been raining for a couple days now. I don't mind when it rains lightly, it's great fun to jump around and play in that. My coat keeps me dry. Something seems to be wrong with the coat on mom and dad - they get very wet and don't like to play with me in the rain much. And they both get upset when I play in the mud. It's great fun! When I run across the yard and then brake to stop, I just go sliding along, tearing out the grass, leaving great big muddy streaks! Such fun!! Then when I go in the house, I can make paw tracks all across the kitchen! It's supposed to rain all day today. Anyone want to go outside?? I've got my ball....it's right here....I'm ready!

Happy Birthday to Me!!

Wow....can't believe it's already my birthday! Mom and Dad got me a great big rawhide bone! It was great! I carried around the house for a while with my head held high to show them how great it was...then it was time to dig in!! Mom gave me a special brushing and my coat just shines! We played ball, but couldn't make it to the park since it was raining most of the day. That's okay...it's still been a special day! Humans get cake on their birthdays. Can I have some cake mom? Huh? I'm a good boy! Is that a new ball? YIIPPPEEEE!!!!! Oh, what's that in my bowl? Smells YUMMYYYYY!!!! Oh boy, Oh boy!

WooHoo....Here comes the Fall!

As much as I love my pool....I love the fall! Falling leaves means snow is on the way! And I LOVE snow!!!!!! It's so much cooler today - I don't need my pool now! I'm not hot all the time, even with the AC off inside. Oh boy! More time to play ball!! Oh boy oh boy oh boy.......when is the snow coming??? Huh???? Can we go run some more? More ball anyone? Mom? Dad? You guys coming?? Let's go!!!

Home Sweet Home

It was fun to go away, but I'm so glad we're home! Mom is finally back to taking me for a run every morning, and it's great! The air is cool....we go all over and I get to check out all the new smells. I love running! And then we get home and play ball once mom has rested a bit. And when we go for a loooong run, and we both get all hot and tired...mom takes me right over to my pool so I can cool off! There's nothing better than plopping in that nice, cool water!! You going back inside mom? OK. I'll stay here. Oh, Wait....where's my cookie??
