Tobermory Meet Up..........

First of all, I must apologize for my "sloppy secretary"...! It's September mom!!!! The meet up was in July from the 6th to the 11th ...........2008

I had such a wonderful time.......I met Flecken, Miss Texas Belle, Mollie, Mimi and Molly.....Wow! what gorgeous creatures..... lucky me and Flecken....surrounded by all those females...! AND their moms..... woohoo...we loved it.

I was actually appointed the guard dog for the week.....Flecken and the gals and moms were quite busy touring the town....Monday night they went for an evening hike with Tony....hmmm....I sure heard lots about Tony!!!! I don't recall if they lived up to the shenanigans Fiona planned for poor Tony......(we won't go there!!!!)

The moms and dogs spent some time at the National Park Visitor's Centre where I hear some of the moms and dogs actually climbed to the top of the look out tower....... (way too high up for me ...thank you!)

My mom had a little surprise for the moms at the Purple Dog House where all the pictures of the FunDawgs were up on display on the "Wall of Fame"......that was kind of neat....! Even Ellie and Helga are up there...wow....they are such cute muffins.....mmmmm.... (me and a few other pups out there are sooo in love with those gals!!) Fiona bought me a beautiful dog tag....heart shaped.... Hey mom!!! Gimme back my tag...!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tuesday night we had a fire in the firepit in the yard....and little Spikey sat on a log ....watching everyone enjoying some marshmallows and a few of them were enjoying a little Bailey's in their coffee mugs......hmmm...mother!!!!

The dogs and moms also went for a ride to Flower Pot Island on the Zodiac boat and they got severely soaked.....serves them right for leaving me at home !!! Hmmmp!!!! Then they had to nerve to lie on the boardwalk at the dock to dry off.....! Thursday the moms and dogs went for a really neat hike in the National Park to the "Grotto" .....how breathtaking that was!!!! Some of the pups even went bare pawed into the water and splashed around for a bit.......

Even though I had to stay at home as the "guard dog".....I didn't miss out on all that much.......I was looking out the window and watched some of the moms out by the log pile.......what was Mollie's mom doing out there????? Weird ....those moms!!!! It looked rather raunchy from where I was watching........(shakes head in disgust!!!!)
Well, I really don't want to know.....!!!!

Friday was a very very very sad day for me and my mom....we had to say good bye to some very special friends.....

I met some really neat dogs and moms.....(sniffle!).....

Mom was so sad that day........and she still misses her frien...(sob!)....

The good news is that we're gonna have them back !!!!!!!!!!!!

Honorable Order of the Dachshund.............

Last week was one of the most exciting days in my life....!!! I just get goosebumps thinking about it....... My mom found a note from the Post Office in our mailbox......it said there was a parcel addressed to Buddy Kloiber to be picked up at the Post Office. For me?????? Buddy???? My mom was excited too and she took off for the Post Office right away.

Mom couldn't just bring the box home unopened, so she opened it right there at the counter in the Post Office..... and inside the box was a certificate with MY picture on it.....and printed in large black print it said: "Honorable Order of the Dachshund" it followed with: Let it henceforth be known that Buddy has been certified as an honorary Dachshund with all rights and priviledges......signed by Ellie and Helga!!!!!!!!!! HOW EXCITING IS THAT!!!!
Also in the box were 2 small yellow balls for me to play with and a cap with the American flag printed on it.......

Thank you so much Ellie and Helga.....I am so thrilled with my gifts........!!!! My mom is playing ball with me every day........WooHoo! The cap is sooooo cute....it has little openings for my ears.....heeheeheehee!!!!!

I am so PROUD of my certificate......my mom is getting it framed and it will hang just above my bed.

My mom and I adore Dachshunds.....especialy now that I am am a certified honorary Dachshund!!!!! Last September my mom and Spike's mom Deb took the train and went to Ottawa to visit MTB and the Queen mum.......well....WOW...my mom totally fell in love with MTB....and now we both love Doxies......

A Get Together of FunDawgs from far and near.....from- Scotland, Maryland, U.S.A. and Ontario, Canada

My mom and Spikes's mom thought it would be nice if we had a get together up here in Tobermory with the Queen, MTB and the Queen mum this summer..... Well...we discovered that Mimi and Molly and their mom were planning a trip to Canada so we welcomed them with open paws to join us. Well...Scamp's mom discovered the get together and since she was planning a trip to the U.S. around the same time also...she was eager to join us ...and we were thrilled to have her. Very soon after that........our pal Mollie's mom discovered the meet-up in the DJWTHF group and she and Mollie got very excited and .....yes, we welcomed them to join us too!!!!

Wow! Before we had time to even think about it ....we discovered that there were going to be a total of 6 moms and 5 dawgs under the same roof!!!!! Under that roof was a house with only 2 bedrooms!!! Oh my dawg!! Well...my mom and Spike's mom decided that we were going to make this the best get together ever!!! As long as there were a few air mattresses to go around.....we were going to be just fine......!!!!

Plans are being made as we speak. This year is the 150th Anniversiary of the Bruce Peninsula Light Stations and has been designated as the "Year of the Lighthouses".......and we will be visiting at least 5 of them for sure! As each day passes our moms are getting more and more excited... We are going to take some nature hikes.....visit the local museum....and we MUST have a white fish dinner....a local treat!!! To die for!!!! Then of course we will take a tour boat and visit Flower Pot Island......In the evenings dawgs and moms will sit around the fire as we watch our famous sunsets and roast wiener curls and marshmallows........

Scamps mom wrote a special poem for our meet-up, which I would like to share........

The summer holidays will soon be here
Fire up the Barbie and chill the beer

Tobermory is the place to go
A sleepy wee town where the days pass slow
Mary and Buddy will be waiting there
On the deck on a comfy chair
On a Sunday in early July

The townsfolk there will sit and cry
Cars of Fundawgs will descend
And peace will come to a sudden end
Mary's neighbours will stop and stare
Some might even frown and glare

Car doors will open and out will come
Mimi and Molly and their Mum
Miss Texas Belle will be there too
And Mollie you'd hear in Timbuctoo

The dawgs will be hyper and so will their Mums
Excited about meeting up with their chums
The town might call a council meeting
While we unpack and the dogs are eating

They may vote to have poor Mary evicted
Some might want her to be convicted
Buddy will worry about his toys
And cover his ears to hide from the noise

He'll be glad to have some pals to play
But happy they'll be leaving again some day
Mary will wonder what she has done
An idea that months ago seemed a good one

I hope she doesn't get sent to jail
We'd have to send her lots of mail
I'd feel guilty that it was our fault
For bringing Tobermory to a halt

Today is a very special day in my life....... first it's the eve of the American Thanksgiving Day, and I sure am thankful for a lot of good things... I am thankful also to Cosmo's Mom who wrote a song for me....

She spied a fur face that stood out from the rest.

She said I am simply going to adopt him....

Of all the dogs here, he's the one I love best.


She took him home with her and soon she did notice,

This doggie loved people, dogs, meatballs and cats....

Car ride to the city.....

On Wednesday my mom and I took a long car ride to visit my furless sister who lives a three hour drive away. I am not that great in the car and I proved that once again....but after we got on the highway I did settle down somewhat and the rest of the ride went rather smoothly. My mom also planned to visit with Spike's mom who is a friend from way back. I finally got to meet the the "great" Spike! We sniffed a little and then it was back in the car with Spike's mom and off we drove to the doggie store. When we arrived at the store, I barked so loud, that I cleared the car in seconds!!! Mom has threatened many times that if I don't stop that loud barking while she is parking the car that she will sell me to the gypsies!!!! You would think that threat would shut me up....it doesn't....because I know her! She couldn't part with me. Hee...hee...hee. We entered the store and wow!!! What a variety of toys and more toys...and yummy treats.... Mom and Spike's mom did their secret santa shopping and I managed to piddle on a wicker basket full of toys! Ooops! After my fiasco in the car and then in the store.... we were off....and back to furless sister's house. Mom was thrilled that she got such fun things for the secret santa doggie. Mom promptly took me home and then she and Spike's mom went to Tim Horton's for a coffee.....and she didn't even bring me a TimBit........!

We had a great visit to the city for a couple of days...but I sure am glad to be back home....and mom did stop on the way home and buy me a TimBit.....Yum!

My mom's been tagged 3 times in the past two days.......my mom would appreciate it if she isn't tagged any more......because it means she has to tag other dogs......and she doesn't want to do that..... Some doggie's moms work during the day time and it might be too much for them..... My mom would not like to tag a dog whose mom works all day.

I'm the FUN DAWG OF THE WEEK !!!!

WOW.....I am the Fun Dawg of the Week and I'm so excited !!!! My mom happened to look at the "thread" and saw the exciting news from Ms. Texas Belle....... My mom started to hyperventilate.....it was quite upsetting to watch her..... but she'll get over it.

I am planning a big bash on the Ferry this weekend.....my friend Spike will be the Captain for the weekend and steer the ferry full of partying Fun Dawgs off into our famous sunsets.....Hmm...! So neat......

Smart dog......

Today is a gorgeous day out there...the sun is shining and I feel very proud of myself...today I outsmarted the Vet ....yup....feeling pretty good about myself!!

I knew mom and dad were taking me to the Vet for a booster shot so I was not that great in the car.....I really didn't want to go! I remember being there a couple of weeks ago and I didn't like what happened.....

Anyway, we arrived at the Vet's office and once inside I created quite a fuss...I did what I do best...bark loudly!! A very kind lady asked in a very polite way for my dad to take me outside in the sun for a little stroll....she mentioned something about not being able to hear anything on the phone.... so dad took me outside, and a few minutes later the Vet came out with a very nice lady.....she had cheese in her hand .....oh yummy! The Vet was carrying some sort of plastic tube. Well....the nice lady gave me some cheese and the Vet bent over to pat me on the head and told me what a good boy I was!!! Then the nice lady continued to give me more cheese and the Vet disappeared into the building... Ha...did I fool him or what!!!! He thought that my dad would take me inside for a booster shot.....hee...hee...hee..I guess I got the last laugh today!!!!

Hmmm....come to think of it....that's not such a bad place at all!!! You go there and they give you cheese!!!

Post office dog......

As I mentioned before, we are now living at the lake in our cozy cottage......when we first moved up there, my mom told me a very interesting and sad story. One day mom went to the post office in town and was so excited to see behind the desk in the far corner of the room was a friendly mutt......sitting on the chair by the desk. I wondered to myself if maybe that dog has a job? Hmmm...... I sure wonder what post office dogs do? Anyway, my mom asked the lady if she could pet her dog....... I wish she would have skipped that annoying bit of information.. Well, she did pet the dog because I suppose she really likes dogs.......whatever. My mom told me that she always enjoyed going to the post office because there was always a friendly dog to lick her hand .....she said it put a smile on her face.

One day she went to the post office and the dog was not there.....of course she asked the lady where the dog was and the lady said that someone complained about a dog being in the post office....apparently they said it was not appropriate to have a dog in the post office. The good news...mom said...was that the lady behind the desk was the owner and the dog was at home..safe and sound..... My mom was both relieved and then really upset!!! I agree with my mom.... that mutt should still be allowed to work at the post office....mom said the dog had a very important job.....she made people smile.....

Hmm...I bet I could have done that job! .....better....
