I'm Mad At My Fursis!

OK, I'm into tasting strange things, including kitty vomit. Gross, I know. But don't judge unless you've tried it. So here's what happened: Millie threw up while Mommy was taking a shower. Daddy had left on errands. As soon as she left, I moved in for a taste. Wouldn't you know it? Coco caught me by the scuff of my neck! She claims she was trying to stop me. Personally, between you and me, I think she wanted a taste too. Luckily, for me, Mommy grabbed Coco by the scuff of her neck and reminded her who's the pack leader. Way to go, Mom! Coco had no reason to grab me like that! I deserve more respect than that. Coco was led out of the bedroom and Mommy closed the door. She spent the rest of the morning, sulking. I, on the other hand, got to nap in my parents' bedroom. So there, Coco!

The Cats Made Me Do It!

My pawrents are so upset with all of us, dogs and cats. One of our cats (it was Ladybug, but don't tell!) caught a birdie on our balcony. She and the other two cats got into a scuttle over the bird. Of course, my doggie sibs, Saki and Coco, and I had to get into the action. It was like playing with a squeaky toy. So we tossed the bird around to each other. At that point, Mommy came in, took one look at what we were doing, and started screaming for Daddy. Daddy got the bird (it wasn't moving by then) out of Coco's mouth. I have no idea what he did with the birdie. All I know is, I'm innocent! The cats started it all!

In Your Easter Bonnet

Mommy and Daddy went to the famous canine Easter Parade here in town. They met so many puppies! They didn't see one Peke, though! One lady took one of those doggie cones and pasted daisies on it! So cute! Mommy has decided that she's going to enter us for the Halloween Parade. Daddy reminded her that I can't walk as well as I used to. Of course, Mommy is very smart and she immediately came up with an answer: a wagon! Daddy will have the honor of pushing me in the wagon in October. BOL! Shouldn't have asked, Dad!

Today, our dear friend, Delilah Faith, passed away. She was a very special puppy who fought every day of her short life to survive. She is survived by her loving pawrents, furless siblings, and fur siblings. May she rest in peace.

Oh, the Indignities!

My fursis, Coco, went to Hawaii to attend Benny and Dutchess' wedding. She brought back a lovely necklace for our mommy and Hawaiian shirts for Daddy and Saki. What did I get? A T-Shirt that said, 'My sister went to Hawaii" (on the front) and "And all I got was this lousy shirt!" (on the back!) Can you believe that? She thought that was funny! Now she's promising to take me and Saki on the next cruise.

Mommy took me to the vet for another check up. He is planning to wean me off the steriod this month. He says for someone who had a slipped disk, I'm doing great! Better yet, I've lost THREE pounds! That's making a huge difference for my back. I was so proud of myself and then he said, "Oh, it's time for his vaccinations." What? Shots? I thought I was here to have my back checked! Next thing I know, he's coming at me with a huge needle (well, not quite huge, but big enough). I gave a huge cry that everyone had to have heard in the waiting room. The vet shook his head and laughed! He hadn't even given me the shot yet. Oh, the indignities! I heard Mommy say that at my next check up, she's bringing Coco and Saki for their annual shots too. I can't wait for that!

Goodness, it hasn't been this exciting around here since I slipped my disk! Mommy has been laid up by a sinus infection. Yesterday, she got this horrible cough. Really, Mommy, it was pretty bad! I couldn't even take a nap because I could hear you hacking away! Coco was running around, like that old robot in Lost in Space. Remember, "Danger, Will Robinson, danger!" She felt so frustrated that Mommy didn't understand how serious her condition was. Personally, I thought Coco was being over protective. She can't help it. She's a Chow. Saki had no idea what was going on. He hid under their bed! So between Mommy's hacking, Coco running around like a crazed dog, and Saki hiding under the bed, I had to take action. So I went up to Mommy and gave her a few snorts. She laughed and said I couldn't be on the bed. Well, I tried, didn't I? If she had put me on the bed, I could have snuggled closely and made her feel better. I was so happy to see Daddy when he came home! He took one look at the situation and insisted that Mommy go to Urgent Care. Good thing he insisted because she was having an asthmatic attack. I heard that she needed a breathing treatment and a shot of steriods. Now she has to take this medication for five days and go back to her doctor on Monday. That means she'll be home again today. Between Coco, Saki, the kitties, and I, we'll take good care of Mommy while Daddy is at work. Time for my morning nap!

I Feel Good!

It wonderful what six weeks of rest can do for you! Today, I'm feeling like my old self again. I'm cuddling with Mommy, laying across her, making sure she's typing exactly what I'm dictating. Keep typing, Mom! I even allowed Millie, one of our kitties, to shower me with love. Yeah, baby, keep the head butts going! I'm ready to go outside and take a nice walk. Mommy says I can't until the vet oks it. I have to wait until my appointment next week. Not fair! It's been raining all week and it finally cleared up today! Just imagine all those wonderful rainy smells! Pout! Pout!

Three Weeks Progress After Slipped Disk

Well, Mommy and Daddy went on their New Year Caribbean cruise. They had great time eating, drinking, and swimming with stingrays. Meanwhile, I was stuck at home crated! Recovering from a slipped disk is no fun, pups! Of course, our wonderful petsitter took great care of all of us. Still, it's hard to see your fursibs playing while you have to "rest."

Mommy took me to the vet for my three week progress check up. YIPPEE! I got to go out in the car! I love the vet's waiting room. So many smells! So many pups to be friends with! I met this cute black cocker spaniel. Wish we could have gotten to know him better! Because this vet specializes in toy breeds, there were a lot of Chis and Poms. We even got to met a puggle getting his shots. Mommy thought he was an adorable puppy. Not as cute as I was when I was that age!

We finally got in to see the doctor. He's very nice. His Bullmastiff was in the office. Talk about a big dog! He looked like a pony! Mommy told Daddy she didn't want to have his food bill!

After the nice doctor checked me over, I got to walk for him. He was very happy with my progress. I can now be "uncrated." Of course, there are restrictions: no furniture, no jumping, climbing, etc. He thinks that in another three weeks I'll be able to go for short walks. I still need to be on a low dose of Predisone for awhile. I can go off my muscle relaxing pill as soon as I finish them. Over all, I'm doing great! I go back in three weeks. Meanwhile, I'm going to enjoy Mommy fawning over me. Life as an invalid is hard work, pups!
