Animal cruelty

Someone or maybe even more than one person here in Riverside County took two Chihuahuas applied duct tape over their mouths and bound their paws, then tossed them into the canal. City workers found the little boy’s dead body caught against the drainage rail; the girl Chihuahua was found battered, frightened but thankfully still alive.

Disposing of unwanted animals should NEVER be done in this manner. Who ever did this terrible act of cruelty should be punished severely and be prohibited from ever owning an animal again.

Zealies

I am in very short supply of zealies right now because my brother Puff spent all of them saying thank you to the many pup pals that have sent him POTP during his illness. The fact that he spent all of the zealies leads me to think: why doesn't Dogster allot equal amont of zealies for EACH pack member that is on Dogster? Our family has five pack members on Dogster/Catster but we get the same amout of zealies as does someone who only has one member. Somehow this does not seem right. Anyhow, please forgive us if we do not send you a turkey for Thanksgiving. Momma has a check written up for Dogster and will be sending it in tomorror for more zealies but she doesn't think we will get them in time for Thanksgiving.

Why do I have to go?

My brother Puff has been ill and because momma got upset with our vet decided to change our health plan over to a different location (same provider, different vet). Because of this I had to go to the vet and have an exam - why? I'm not sick. All I can tell you is that I am not happy. Do I have to tell you that they violated my behind and then took me into the back room and gave me a pedicure? Poked my rump and clipped my nails - nope, not happy at all.

Health plan packages

Momma found out the hard way that those of us pups that have health care packages might not be able to get out of the plan or even switch to a different vet who is on the plan.

As you know my brother Puff has liver problems and because momma does not think we are getting the best of care with our current vet she is attempting to move us over to vet under the same plan but at a different location. The health care plan is nothing more than shots, blood work up and teeth cleaning. If the pet should become sick, like Puff is, the illness is not covered. Puff can be moved because his contract is up next month, but me, I am six months into the contract and might not be able to switch until June of 2010. Momma is planning on using the vet right down the street from us for illness related issues. The shots, blood work and teeth cleaning can be done under the current health plan but hopefully at a different location.

Anyhow, Puff and I are going to go to the vet at the new location today to see if we can both be moved there so momma told me I have to be on super good behavior. As long as he does not violate my behind I'll be good.

Coco Rose

The weather is changing

The weather in Southern California is changing. Gone are the hot days and equally hot nights. It has been replaced with hot days and cold nights. This creates quite a contrast between my momma and daddy. Daddy walks around the house saying it's hot, but momma walks around the house shutting all windows and saying she is cold. Last night we were on the big bed with watching TV and momma had to get up and get another blanket because she was cold. I tell you after having a real hot summer, I'll take the cold nights anytime.

This morning momma took Puff out to the car and drove off with out me. I was not happy. How could she go and just leave me at home like that? Momma and Puff were gone for hours. When they came home I immediately ran over to Puff and smelled him; I know that smell and it only comes from the vet office. Okay, that is one place I do not want to go to so I guess I will stop pouting now.

Chicken for dinner

November 7th 2009 8:57 am
[ Leave A Comment | 4 people already have ]

Momma has been boiling Chicken and brown rice for us for dinner because Puff has been having tummy problems. I must say I am enjoying the chicken, but really wish she would leave out the brown rice.

Anyhow, she put some chicken in the crock pot along with the rice, turned it on and went to work. Puff, daddy and I could smell the chicken cooking all day long.

When she got home, she removed the chicken and put it on a plate so it could cool down. Puff was right under her begging for something to eat. Me, I parked myself on the top of the sofa back so I could monitor if he was getting little tasties and when I saw momma was sneaking him some, I jumped off the sofa and hurried into the kitchen for my share.

After the chicken and rice cooled down, momma got out two plates and put some on each plate. She then set both dishes down on the kitchen floor about two feet apart. I immediately went to one and started eatting the wonderful chicken. When Puff came over to the other plate, I ran over there and started eatting that chicken also. If I saw him start to the other plate of chicken, I would run over there and eat from that dish. Anyhow, I managed to eat all chicken from BOTH plates - BOL, BOL, and let me tell you my little belly was nice and full. Puff on the other hand stood there looking lost and did not get any.

Momma watched the whole thing and when I was finished, she picked up both plates and put more chicken on one plate which she gave to Puff. I ran over there and tried to stick my little face in it, but this time Puff stood his ground and wouldn't let me have any.

Halloween 2009

After being sent to the groomers today to get cleaned up, momma brought me back home and put my Halloween costume on - I got to be a princess. We really didn't have as many trick or treaters as we have had in prior years. Momma always takes our baby gate and puts it across the front door opening so I can't run out of the house when she opens the door to give the treats. Puffy and I barked and barked when people came up to our door, but we had lots of fun being fussed over by the trick or treaters.

Everyone who saw me said I was so pretty - momma should have given those smart kids extra treats for their good tastes - BOL.

Friday morning momma discovered a "present" in the master bedroom closet. There on the carpet was...how should I put this...POO. Yup, she saw it when she was getting dressed to go to work, so she cleaned it up and closed the closet door. When momma got home from work, daddy told her that she needed to have a talk to her children because they were all getting bad habits. Momma played dumb and asked him what he was talking about and he said:

Daddy - I caught Bay-Ling trying to use your potted plants as her bathroom.

Momma - Um, I guess this is a good time to tell you that I had to clean up kitty poo from the closet carpet.

Daddy - When did you have to do that and how do you know it was kitty poo?

Momma - This morning and I know it was Simba's from the size.

Daddy - What is the matter with your kids?

Momma - Well they are YOURS too you know.

Daddy - Not when they are being bad.

Anyhow, you get the drift of the conversation. It turned out that yes, both of the cats were guilty but it was because their kitty door accidently got locked so they could not access their potty box. Momma thinks Bay-Ling choose wisely and that Simba should have followed her lead.

I have turned into a cookie monster. I really can't explain why it's happened, but lately whenever Puff and I get treats, I take mine, then watch him carefully and as soon as he drops it, I scurry over and take his and add it to my pile. Then I start chomping one one of them inches away from Puff so he can see that I have some treats and he doesn't.

Ah life as the Princess never been so good. Double the treats now that I have a brother - BOL.

Yesterday it was down right HOT here so we didn't do any yard work or house work. Today, it has cooled down so momma went out front to trim off some of the spent blossoms on the plants. When she opened the front door, I went charging out and heard two of my neighbor’s daughters playing in the street. I immediately took off to where there were. This really wasn't a good idea because both of the little girls are afraid of me, and I don't know why. I have never done anything to them, but they remain afraid. I took off towards them and momma immediately started calling to me but I ignored her completely. When I got to the little girls I looked at them but they both stood still so I decided to move past them and go smell something else. Momma continued to call me and was coming after me with Puff right behind her. I ended up at the end of the cul-de-sac at the house with a For Sale sign posted in the front yard. Just as I was getting ready to put my mark of approval on the grass, momma picked me up but Puff marked the area for us. Momma carried me home, Puff being the momma’s boy he is followed momma home without any coaching. Momma then put us both inside the house and went back outside to finish her yard work.

Me, I was tired after running down the block so I went and got a nice drink of water and then took a nap.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

I was minding my own business and momma read me Dukes diary entry regarding being Tagged. At the end of the entry he so nicely said –“ if you read this consider yourself tagged”.

I have to write down 7 (Seven) facts about myself...So here goes it:

1.) I am a cookie obsessed pup. I love my cookies and will carry them all over the house with me just to make sure my brother Puff does not get his chompers on one of them. I have been known to carry a cookie around for one or more weeks before I actually eat it.

2.) I do not like any aspect of grooming. I don’t want a bath, don’t want to be combed and I don’t want a hair cut. Please just leave me alone. Those odors you smell took me forever to develop so please do not try to change it with some stinky perfume. I LIKE the way I smell.

3.) I have my own car seat and love to ride in it. I have ridden in the car seat ever since I was a tiny little pup without any problems. However the last time I was in it, I jumped out of the parked car and fell and hit the sidewalk (I saw my friend Muppet and wanted to go play with her), now I have to wear a harness whenever I am riding in the car to prevent me from ever doing that again. I’m not sure if I am going to like this.

4.) I love my bunny sister Arleenton! I used to get to play with her but ever since Puff moved in and took too much of an interest in her, I have been prohibited from playing tag. Momma says it is really because Arleenton is now an older bunny and might not want to play tag anymore.
5.) I never walk in the house, instead I run everyplace my little legs will carry me. If momma or daddy take me for a walk in the neighborhood I will walk, but not in the house. I have to run, run, run.

6.) I refuse to obey the “Come” command. Humans can be so stupid in regards to this. Why don’t they understand that I obviously see or smell smoothing much better than what they are offering me. I’ll come back when I am ready, thank you very much. Now PLEASE stop calling me!

7.) I am a very bossy, spoiled and lazy Princess. Everyone is here to serve me.

Same as Duke’s diary put it -- if you read this consider yourself tagged.
You're It!!!

Please someone rescue me. It's Saturday morning 5:00AM and I should be sleeping but NO, momma is painting the sewing room and making a bunch of noise.

Coco - Um, do you really have to do that right now?

Momma - I want to get this finished.

Coco - But right now?

Momma - You should complain? Who wakes me up at two in the morning for water and a visit to the bathroom?

Coco - But that's different, I have my needs, you are only doing this to be mean.

Momma - No Coco I am not doing this to be mean, I want to get all the paint cans off my sewing table and I can't do that until I finish painting around the window. I'll be done pretty soon.

Daddy - Do you really have to make all this noise?

Momma - Sheesh, what noise?

Daddy - Your banging stuff around in here and I hear it all the way in the bedroom. Now Please stop.

Momma - Okay - fine! Maybe I'll do some laundry instead.

Coco - The disadvantages of living with someone who can't hear. Momma's world is quite, but for those of us who can hear can be very noisy when momma is up and about.

I love the weekends because momma usually stays home with us. Sometimes on Saturday she goes out to lucnch with one of her girlfriends or does some shopping. Sundays mom does laundry and takes naps with us. This morning momma got up and cooked breakfast then climbed back into the daybed with Puff and I and went back to sleep. Puff and I both choose to lay at the foot of the daybed and we dozed off next to momma's feet.

Momma was supposed to finish painting in the the sewing room today but it's now 2:30 in the afternoon and I know that isn't going to happen - BOL. Maybe next weekend.

I wake momma up early this morning (2:00AM)

Coco -Yap, yap, yap - momma can I have a drink of water?

Momma - Snort, snort, um, Coco go back to sleep.

Coco - Yap, yap, yap, yap - momma I'm thirsty and have to go pee-pee.

Momma - Moan...gets up and lets Coco out of her crate and then lets Puff up too. Stumbles to the bady gate and opens it and follows Coco and Puff into the kitchen.

Momma - Hurry up Coco I want to go back to bed.

Coco ignors momma and slowly slurps her water, then goes to the sliding door to be let out.

Momma opens the door and both Coco and Puff go outside. Momma leans against the door and waits, and waits and waits.

Momma - Oh come on already and come back inside....

Puff comes running in but no Coco.

Momma - For the sake of my sanity, please come back inside so I can go back to sleep.

Momma - Coco come in, NOW!

Coco is now place to be found. She is out in the backyard but finding a black dog in the dark is next to impossible without turning one the lights and waking daddy up (definitely not a good thing to do)

Finally Coco comes back to the door and comes inside. She then goes into the kitchen for more water and slowly makes her way back to the sewing room. Momma is now leaning against the wall so she can place the baby gate back across the door opening so the dogs can't go into other rooms and leave presents on the carpet. With both dogs back into the sewing room and the baby gate inplace momma stumbles back into the daybed and goes back to sleep but she lets the dogs sleep up on the daybed with her.

5:00AM - Coco pounces on top of momma.

Coco - Momma can I have a drink of water...And it continues as above over and over again....

I have been very nice about sharing my stuff with ole Puff, but today he got to go for a car ride with momma and I didn't. I ran to the front door when I saw momma get the leash and I was expecting her to take me with her, but instead she put me in the sewing room and went out the front door with Puff. I watched as she put Puff on the front car seat and clip his harness to the seat belt and off they went. I love to go bye-bye and I felt sad that I didn't get to go until Puff and momma came back home and I could smell Dr. Siearra on Puff. All I can say now is I'm glad I didn't get to go.

Discrimination

Some military bases are beginning to ban American pit bull and Staffordshire terriers. Yes, if you want to live on base and own one of these breeds, you had better think again.

Where I live the meanest dog is a big nasty Golden Retriever - yes, they are supposed to be very nice dogs, but no one has ever told Dudley that. He is a very mean and nasty dog, but come to think of it so is his human daddy so maybe that is where he gets it from...

Anyhoodle, my point is that mean and nasty is not just breed specific and calling for a ban just pans the fires to make certain breeds undesirable. Maybe the military should adopt the "don't ask/don't tell" policy towards the dogs too.

Saturday when momma and I got home from the groomers, She opened the car door and went to take me out of my doggy seat. Normally I sit real nice in it and wait for momma to reach in and take me out. This time I did not do that, instead, I jumped out of the car because my friend Muppet was outside and I wanted to go play with her. Momma tried to catch me but I fell to the sidewalk and hit the curb - OWIE, OWIE, OWIE.

I decided I didn't want to play with Muppet any more and went running up to the front door. Sunday momma noticed I have a big lump on my side. When momma checked the lump today she is happy because it is going down.

Next time maybe I better wait for momma to take me out of the car seat.

Mom here - next time she will be wearing a harness that is connected to the dog seat so she will have to wait for me to take her out of the car!!!

National Pet Memorial Day

For all the pets that I have ever loved, this is for you.

Cats:
Samantha - You were a beautiful gray and white short hair gal with the greenest eyes around. Thank you for waking me up when that strange man tried to break into our bottom floor apartment.

Squeaky - Ah what a surprise you turned out to be. My little female orange and white short hair cat that turned out to me a MALE. Yup, all the equipment was there I just neglected to look. I'll always be thankful for the 20 years you lived with me.

Pepper - My little black beauty sure knew how to get what she wanted. If I was sleeping, she would climb up on me and rub her head on me. If that didn't wake me up she would take one of her paws and hit me in the eye as she learned that always got my attention. You too shared your life with me for 20 years and I was happy to have you as a member of my family.

Cuddles - I found you at Kobys swap meet on my birthday. A young man had a sign in front of a box saying "Cute Kittens". You were absolutely the prettiest baby in the box. Without thinking, I took you and finally had my lap baby. It was a great 15 years of togetherness.

Bunnies:
Butterscotch - From a 6 week old baby to an 8 year old rabbit, you were the sweetest little bunny around.

Thumper - Your story is very sad as you were an abused little bunny that someone didn't want. I'm glad you were able to spend time with us and I hope your early abuse was eased with all the love we were able to give to you.

Lexi - You were not with us very long and too this day I do not know why you were called to the Rainbow Bridge so early.

Grayson - With the seasons changing I could always count on your fur changing with it. In the summer your fur was gray but with the cooler weather it would change to almost white. Arleenton and I miss you.

Dogs:
Misty - I found you in a pet store and paid one dollar for you. It was probably the best dollar I ever spent. You were my protector that would not let anything happen to me. I loved going places with you. Remember the summer we walked around Fiesta Island almost daily?

Logan Ben - To this day, you remain my soul mate. My crazy, confused baby boy. Except for the problems you had with daddy, I would not trade a minute of it for anything. I miss you dearly.

Yes, there have been many animals in my life and as I age I'm uncertain if the ones currently sharing my life will be the last. I can tell you for certain that I have loved each and everyone of them as they were all unique in their own way. Some of them were with me for many, many years, others only a brief time. I do know with each passing, I have cried tears of sorrow for a little friend was gone.

Let there be light

It was a crazy morning, someone came to our house and Puff and I were relocated into the kitchen. Daddy put up the gate so we had to stay in there. Of course we barked our little heads off complaining about it the whole time.

We could hear someone in the house with daddy and footsteps up in the attic. After about one hour the company left and we were allowed to go back into the sewing room.

Puff and I sniffed and checked out everything to make sure it was as it had been before. We climbed the stairs up to the daybed and started to settle down when I noticed that big thing hanging down from the ceiling. It is a ceiling light that daddy had installed into the sewing room for momma since she was not able to have a Solatube installed. We now have lots of light in the sewing room so momma can finally stop complaining.

Bath day at our house

I had to spend all day at the vet's. I was due for one of my vacinations and in the past I have shown adverse reactions to it, so my vet requires that I come in early in the morning, get the shot, and then he monitors me all day long to make sure I'm okay.

Puff got to spend all day with momma. When I got home late this afternoon, the first thing I did was smell Puff because he smelled "different". Turns out he got sent to the groomers, got a bath and a haircut. I have to say he looks very nice and smells better too.

I missed all the excitement at home because daddy decided to give Simba Blue and Bay-Ling my kitty brother and sister baths today. I'm actually lucky I wasn't home because Simba will strike out at the closest thing to him when he gets upset and from what I heard he was really upset. Everyone in my family got baths today except for Arleenton my bunny sister and me, so I guess it wasn't such a bad day after all.

Momma was supposed to take me to the vet tomorrow for a shot but cancelled so I wouldn't have to be away from the air conditioned house.

No matter how hot it gets, I do not want to be cooled off with a bath - thank you, no thank you!!!

Daddy and the carpet cleaner

Tonight as daddy was shampooing the sewing room carpet and mumbling "thank you Puff" as he cleaned the soiled carpet, he accidentally smeared a piece of watercolor pencil into the debris and then couldn't get it up. Now daddy was not only upset with Puff, but with momma as well because it was her pencil.

I had enough sense to stay out of sight until daddy calmed down. When he did notice me he told me what a good little doggie I am then mumble something I can't repeat here about Puff and momma before he put up the carpet cleaner.

I wanted to suggest that daddy let the carpet cleaner stay out because he is most likely going to have to use it again tomorrow but I didn't think he would appreciate my insight - BOL.

No Solatube

August 23rd 2009 8:26 am
[ Leave A Comment | 1 person already has ]

We were supposed to get a Solatube installed into the sewing room so that we would have lots of pretty natural light in there because not only is the room very tiny, it is also dark because the front porch blocks all light. The first time the solatube installer came out he did not bring the right products with him so no installation. The installation was rescheduled for the following Saturday. Momma got a phone call from the home office Friday saying that they had a cancellation and wanted to know if they could come out on Friday to do the installation. Of course momma jumped at the chance and said okay. Momma called daddy and told him to expect the Solatube guy and went back about doing her job at work.

When she got home, no Solatube! The installer had drilled a hole in the roof and then so nicely announced that he was unable to installed it because of the pitch of the roof. Of course both momma and daddy are not happy that the installer drilled a hole in the roof, which he says he "patched".

All I can say about this is that both Puff and I warned our humans about this guy by barking and barking but all we got was "QUITE!" How much more warning do the humans need? We told them not to let this guy in but they chose not to listen.

We are all disapointed that we did not get pretty sunlight to brighten up the sewing room. Momma is now in the process of changing the wall color from the mauve color that she painted it last year to a very light gray in hopes of reflecting some light into the space. I heard her tell daddy that she might change out the closet doors from wood to mirror for the same reason. She then asked daddy about hiring someone to install a window on the East wall of the sewing room for light. Daddy just shook his head and walked away.

Coco Rose

I have been thinking about death these last two day. It seems one of our Pup Pals human mom has been called to the Rainbow Bridge. I have never met the woman, but I can tell you I really liked her a lot. At no time did she ever tell me that she was ill or even disclose her name to me. We emailed each other regularly but always signed with our pets names.

I have been emailing and sending her rosettes asking her why she was not on Dogster. It was one of her other Dogster friends that noticed my inquiry and informed me of her passing. I am very grateful to know why my friend disappeared, but at the same time I am feeling like I let her down because I did not know her time here on earth was so limited, as is all of ours, I suppose.

This leads me to wonder how many other pals will disappear without someone informing us that they have been called home. Tonight I am going to put my password for Dogster onto Logan Bens box that is holding his remains with instructions that should something happen to me, to please let the rest of my pals know so that there can be some closure. I am also going to make arrangements for Coco Rose, Puff, Simba Blue, Bay-Ling and Arleenton so in case both my husband and I should see the end together, that the four legged children will be taken care of.

And to my friend who is now with the Angels, I want to thank you for being my friend. I’m really going to miss you Maralee.

We had set our comment section so no comments could be left on our diary page. However, apparently because my typist left a comment on someone else’s diary, the feature was turned back on by Dogster Headquarters. Because we have received a request or two for us to activate the comment section we are going to leave it on for now to see how it works. So, let the comments begin....

More about my Pup Pals

As promised, here are some more interesting facts about some of my pup pals. Remember, if I did not mention you the last time or this time, I will at a later date.

Baxter http://www.dogster.com/dogs/190498 is a wonderful French bulldog. We owe lots of thanks to Baxter’s human daddy because he is the one who turned us onto Dogster. We love you Baxter.

Kaya http://www.dogster.com/dogs/1002010 was a puppy mill rescue. She has such a happy home now so hopefully she can forget her terrible beginnings.

If you ever wondered what a beagle/dachshund would look like, check out our pal Buddy http://www.dogster.com/dogs/955688 because he is so very handsome.

Sammy the Shih Tzu http://www.dogster.com/dogs/188231 has no time for diary entries. He sure is a cute little tyke and we wish we knew more about him.

Sam http://www.dogster.com/dogs/188231 is an American Pit Bull Terrier/Labrador Retriever. Every time we read his June 25th, 2009 entry titled “Ingenious” we burst out laughing. Thank you for being our friend Sammy.

Abigail http://www.dogster.com/dogs/167213 is the prettiest little gal who has a past. Yes, at one time this little princess was arrested and put in jail. She has a record but with lots of love and rehabilitation she is not walking on the wrong side of the tracks any more.

Pebbles http://www.dogster.com/dogs/173258 has many, many pup pals. The last time I looked she has 25,672!!!! Wow – Impressive! I wonder if she gives them all Christmas Rosettes. Probably not.

My pup pal Sunny http://www.dogster.com/dogs/794702 is entered into the cutest dog contest. If she wins, she has pledged that any and all winnings will go to her local humane society. Won’t you please visit the site and give her a vote. http://www.cutestdogcompetition.com/vote.cfm?h=05AFB50C61D9D C9D7ADE9E05D56FD864 Good Luck Sunny I hope you win.

Beautiful Gracie http://www.dogster.com/dogs/317638 is a real momma’s girl. She has not been on Dogster since the end of last year, but I am hoping she and her sisters will come back soon.

My pal Dexter Nova Bright Star http://www.dogster.com/dogs/16108 is a wonderful Gordon Setter. He was named after Dexter Gordon the jazz saxophonist. I wonder if he can play the sax.

Wolfgang RL1 CGC http://www.dogster.com/dogs/767265 is a very fashionable German Shepherd/Collie. He is another re-homed lad that was given a second chance.

My girlfriend Halo Kitty http://www.dogster.com/dogs/548373 loves cats and has one of her own Apollo. She is afraid of thunderstorms so her humans got her a thunderstorm shirt to help comfort her when needed. What loving humans she has.

And finally, I have to mention Wheelie Baby Bear http://www.dogster.com/dogs/136060 he is the cutest Yorkshire Terrier I have ever seen. At one time life was quite easy for Baby Bear, until he jumped off his human mommas lap and broke his neck. The vet suggested that it might be best to put Baby Bear down, because his hind legs were now paralyzed. Baby Bears momma refused to do this and instead found other forms of treatment. With lots of hard work and determination on both of their parts, Baby Bear is now walking. We love you Baby Bear.

That’s it for today…Keep watching for your name to appear.

Some of my Pup Pals

I've been thinking a lot about my pup pals. I really enjoy it when I am reading one of my pal’s diaries and my name is mentioned because it makes me feel special, so I am going to start this new feature in my diary. From time to time I am going to mention one or more of my pup pals. My goal is to mention every one of you at some point because to me, each one of you is special. If you are not mentioned this time, I promise you I will mention you sometime later.

1) My most pampered Pup Pal pooch is without a doubt Tinker Bell Forever http://www.dogster.com/dogs/548196. Go to her photo album, the second page, she had a dinner table booster seat!!! OMD – I have to eat from the floor. My daddy would never let me have a dinner table booster seat. I think I’m going to go pout.

2) My pal Demon Flash Bandit http://www.dogster.com/dogs/292006 has the most hypnotizing blue eyes. It’s no wonder his humans fell in love with him.

3) If it is dreamy eyes you want, then check out my pal Fluffy Lee http://www.dogster.com/dogs/175340 . I could easily fall under his spell just glazing into his dark peepers.

4) My pal Ella http://www.dogster.com/dogs/710533 has the most unique facial expressions. Her personality really shines through in all her pictures and they make us laugh with her.

5) Some of our pals are working dogs. http://www.dogster.com/dogs/652151 Bukka and Josh are big, beautiful Great Pyrenees who are responsible for looking after and guarding the Alpacas. Personally I think they should be asking for a raise because the flock keeps on growing. More Alpacas should mean more Bully sticks.

6) I’ve often wondered what it would be like to have a body with long beautiful legs like my buddy Tiberius http://www.dogster.com/dogs/800845 has. It must be nice to be able to see yummy treats that are sitting on the coffee table. I wonder if he ever helps himself to anything, I know that I would.

7) I think my BFF Pookie http://www.dogster.com/dogs/98789 has the prettiest hair. Her momma keeps her really pretty. I wish I could look as pretty as she does.

8) I really wish I could play with my pal Pepper http://www.dogster.com/dogs/953376 as she seems like she would be a lot of fun to be around. She could come over to my house and pee on the floor, Puff would get in trouble for it – BOL

9) My pals Sully and Socks http://www.dogster.com/dogs/752866 make a wonderful team. My momma decided to seriously pursue finding me a brother or sister after seeing how Sully accepted Socks into his family.

10) Dixie Black Pearl http://www.dogster.com/dogs/865951 is one of the sweetest black dogs there are and is a good example as to why people should not pass up black dogs being offered for adoption (of course I am biased on the whole black dog thing).

11) We love our Pup Pal Little CoCo Puff http://www.dogster.com/dogs/500107 she is a real beauty. I love the picture of her with her IPOD on because she looks like she is really getting into the music, I wonder what she was listening to.

12) Some of our Pup Pals are facing some real challenges right now. Our new pal Dozer http://www.dogster.com/dogs/1017350 is a very young Saint Bernard who has a defective back leg which is going to be amputated next week. He could use some encouragement and more pup pals. Would you all please go visit his site and offer some encouragement to him and his family?

Well this is the first group of pals to be mentioned. My typist is not sure how the links are going to turn out because she is typing this on Microsoft Word and then will be transferring it onto Dogster (she needs the spell check feature on Microsoft). Okay, we just discovered the referenced Pup Pal sites are not coming out to be instant click ons - what did my typist do wrong? Someone please email me so the next time this can be corrected.

We hope this entry made some of our pals feel special. Keep watching for us to continue on with more pals. If you were not mentioned this time we will mention you at a later time.

Coco Rose

Michael Vick

It wasn't surprising to me that someone signed Michael Vick to play football after all I suspect they got him at a huge discount. I for one would love to see him play again but only under the following conditions:

He is prohibited from wearing any protective gear.

He must be lean so his food rations should be severely limited.

Should he get injured, no medical attention should be given.

His pay and bonuses are based upon his successful plays. If he does not score in every play, he is to be punished in the exact same manner that the dogs he kept were. I personally vote for a car battery connected to selected areas on his body.

Since it is very unlikely that the above will occur, I for one will not be watching any football games that the Eagles play in even if they should happen to make it to the Super Bowl. Yes, the man paid for his crimes but the dead dogs paid a much bigger price than he will ever have to pay.

Self cleaning oven

August 11th 2009 7:37 pm

Momma thought the oven was broken because when she tried to use the self cleaning feature Sunday night to clean out all of the grease that was deposited inside from the BBQ grills, the self cleaning feature wouldn't turn on. Momma was in a panic (it's a new oven) so it was a good thing daddy happened to come into the kitchen because he told momma that some of the ovens have a 24 hour lock-out that prevent the user from using the self cleaning feature more than once in that time period.

I'm happy to tell you that the self cleaning feature is still working because momma turned on that feature this morning before she went to work, so the oven is now free of grease and no longers bellows smoke.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

Do not attempt this

August 9th 2009 6:26 pm

Momma and daddy have been cleaning the house for several days because the youngest human daughter (she is 28) was coming home for a visit and was bring a girl friend with her. So the humans have been mopping, scrubbing and waxing.

Momma decided that she was going to have daddy cook carne asada out on the BBQ grill so this morning she told daddy that he had to clean off the grill. She also told daddy that she had read that a good place to clean the grills is in the kitchen self cleaning oven. Well that seemed like a really good idea because then the oven could do all the work and that would save the humans some elbow grease.

Let me be the one to inform you DO NOT DO THAT - why you ask?

The oven started bellowing smoke from all the grease on the grill. Smoke was pouring out of the oven vents and the door.

Momma - I don't know about this...it sure is getting smoky in here.

Daddy - It's fine, it will stop pretty soon.

Momma - Do you think my oven is on fire?

Daddy - No

Momma - Cough, cough...My eyes are burning, cough, cough.

Daddy - Let it run for a few more minutes.

Momma - I can't breath...

Daddy goes outside and momma stays in the kitchen looking through the glass door on the oven to see if it was on fire.

All of a sudden it seemed like every smoke detector in our tiny house was hollering.

Momma - OMG - fan some of the smoke out.

Daddy - Turn the oven off.

Momma - I can't it will ruin the compute in the oven.

Daddy - Turn the oven off!!!

Momma - Okay - momma turns off the oven.

While the alarms continued to sound, daddy got the big fan and was holding it up towards one of smoke detector and momma was fanning two others with a paper to dispell the smoke.

Momma - Please get the alarms to stop alarming.

Daddy - I'm trying.

In the meanwhile, Puff and I were running around asking the humans to please make that terrible noise stop. Simba and Bay-Ling were no place to be found. After what seemed like hours but was only about 10 minutes, if even that, the alarms finally stopped and the smoke from the oven get less and less.

Momma - well maybe it wasn't a good idea to try to clean the greasy grills in the oven.

Daddy - You think?

Momma - It sure did make a mess in my oven. I'm going to have to clean it tonight.

Daddy - You're kidding right? You're not going to run the self cleaning feature tonight are you?

Momma - Well it has to be cleaned before we can use it again because of all the splattered grease in there.

Daddy - groans and walks away.

Don't worry pup pals, the fire department is only three blocks away and I have their phone number handy - BOL

It's been really hot here. When momma got home from shopping today, she wanted to lay down on the big bed because there is a really nice ceiling fan that cools off the bedroom and we have french doors that open up into the back yard so if there is any breeze it helps to cool down that room.

After the humans ate lunch, momma asked daddy if he wanted to go into the bedroom and watch a movie. Of course Puff and I went running into the big bedroom and asked to be let up on the bed.

Momma picked us up and told us we had to be good and DON"T PEE ON THE BED!!!!

Puff and I played and then we took a nap while the humans watched a movie.

I'm happy to report that there were no accidents on the bed.

Petland

I am deeply saddened by the report of an Ohio Petland employee who bragged about drowning two rabbits on her Facebook entry. The young woman even posed with the two wet and very dead rabbits for a picture. I'd like to ask the young women in the picture why she felt this were something that was okay to do. Would she like to be held in a swimming pool until she could no longer breathe? I suspect not.

I like to lay on the daybed and watch TV. I've noticed a commercial about some liquid that the humans can get to spray in the water bowl for dogs and cats that are having joint problems which is supposed to help them feel and walk better. I'm thinking about ordering a case of it for my momma - BOL

Nothing too much going on at my house tonight. It's finally cooling down some which is really nice. I'm hoping momma will let me go visit with my bunny sister Arleenton this weekend because she is probably lonely now that she is all alone. I think now that it is cooler, a nice lively game of tag will cheer her up some.

Sad truth

July 30th 2009 9:08 pm

There was an article in our local newspaper this week regarding the over crowed conditions that our local animal shelter is facing. When a pet is given up for adoption, after being evaluated by the staff, if the animal is deemed adoptable, it is placed in the display area and will remain there for four days. At the end of the four days, if the animal has not been adopted, placed in a secondary rescue facility or foster care, then the animal is put to death. FOUR DAYS!!!!!

Being cute is not a guarantee that your relinquished pet will be adopted because when the dog is locked up in a strange environment, it is scared. Many dogs can not easily adjust to “life in the pound” and will cower in the corner, show signs of aggression, cry, soil themselves and snap of prospective adoptive parents. The majority of these animals will be passed by and there will be no happy endings for them.

The best thing we can all do to resolve this is to have our pets spayed or neutered.

This is for our pals Dylan and Tiberius:

Our pal Dylan posted this thread. I thought I would post it in my diary - and anyone who wants should copy and paste it in YOUR Diary as well- then fill in your answers instead of ours.!! We would love to read this stuff in our pal's Diaries - so FETCH IT and DO IT!!

How old was your typist when they got their first dog? Misty was my moms first dog and momma was in her late 20s.

Has your typist ever been bitten by another dog? If so, how many times? Yes - Friends dog bit mom twice in one night once on the nose and the other time on her lip- momma and her firend were trying to give the dog a much needed bath but the dog had other ideas.

Spaghetti - with or without meatballs? The more meatballs the better because then momma will share with me.

What is your typist’s favorite song right now? Elvis Preseley's Lay your head on my pillow.

How many dog parks do you have in your area? One about 15 miles. There was talk about opening another but that was before the terrible economic problems that have hit this area so it is kind of doubtful that it will happen anytime soom.

What was the last movie that your typist went to see? At the show- Harry Potter and the 1/2 blood prince. Neither momma or daddy enjoyed it.

Is animal shampoo tested on humans? Nope, only on animals until it is approved for use on humans.

How often do you get your teeth brushed? Once a year - we let the vet do it and then he complains about our teeth the rest of the year - BOL

Collar or harness? Pretty collar

Do fish get thirsty ? Of course not, they are in water.

Where is the last place your typist went to for vacation? My humans have not been on a vacation in many years. The last vacation was Las Vagas and the news was that Princess Diana had died in that terrible car crash, so it has to have been about 10 years ago.

PetSmart, Petco or _____? Either, although PetSmart has a bigger selection than Petco does. We have a nautral dog food store that is new and really close but they don't sell the food we eat.

Besides Dogster, what’s another one of your typist’s favorite web sites? Momma is addicted to Ebay but has to be carful about spending money on stuff. She bought a lot of carinval glass from various sellers on Ebay.

Have you ever caught a squirrel? No, I'm a lover.

Are you more of a sniffer or a licker? Do I have to choose? I sniff everything before I eat it and I also lick alot.

When’s the last time you were at the vet? Saturday and I still upset about the stuff they did to me!!!

How many packets of Kool-Aid would it take to fill the ocean? Is this a trick question?

Does your typist spend more than two hours a day on Dogster? On the days she don't have to work - Sometimes.

What’s the name of the dog on the Cracker Jack box - Pete, Bingo, or Skip? There is a dog on the Cracker Jack box?

If you could meet any ‘famous’ dog past or present, who would it be?~ I would like to meet everyone of my dogster pup pals in person!!!

Willow tree

Momma planted a small willow tree in our back yard at the end of summer last year. It lost most of its leaves right after it was planted and momma was worried that the tree was not going to survive. Well it did!!! Puff, momma and I sat under the tree today and enjoyed the wind blowing the willow branches over us as we sat in its shade. Our tree has grown a lot over the one year that it has been here. When it was first planted the branches were not weeping as the tree was still too young. Now the branches touch the ground. Momma wanted to take some pictures of Puff and I under the tree but every time momma got up to go get the camera we followed her so no pictures - BOL.

Vet visit

I spent most of the afternoon at the vets. I was poked, prodded and manhandled. They took blood and invaded my privacy. Let me tell you, I did not like any of it at all. The absolute worse part was when they went to trim my dew claws, yes, I still have dew claws. The ones on my hind feet tend to grow real fast and curl inward. I don't like to have anyone mess with them. It took two people to trim them today because I would not stand still. To make matters worse the vet told momma that she has to bring me in every 6 weeks for a trim - yuck!!

There is some good news though; my blood work did not find any signs of me being a diabetic. I'm just a very thirsty gal - BOL

To Dr. Sierra I go...

I heard momma call Dr. Sierra and make an appointment to find out if I am a diabetic. Mom has told Dr. Sierra that I apparently drink a lot of water and she is concerned that I might be sick. I’m not overweight but for some reason I just can’t get enough water. I stand by the water bowl and lap it down. The doctor is going to do a blood test tomorrow and then momma will finally know if I’m just a very thirsty dog or a sick dog. Dr. Sierra has been insisting that I am just a thirsty dog, let’s hope he is right.

I've been tagged by my good buddies Josh and Bukka

I'm supposed to tell what kind of Ice Cream I look like and then tag ten other pup pals so they too can say what type of Ice Cream they look like.

I look like Octopus Ink Ice Cream (momma saw it on one of the cooking shows). I am BLACK, not brown so I can not be chocolate. The fact that I remind momma of Octopus Ink ice cream makes me unique and special, like a princess should be.

That's right, no Puff. Puff is at the vet getting his 6 month check-up. Momma had to take him in early this morning and leave him there all day long. Momma said she was glad she didn't actually have to see Dr. Sierra because he would give her trouble about how much weight Puff has gained. This morning he tipped the scale at 12.8 pounds. Yup, the little butterball is FAT. Momma couldn't even put my harness on him because he was too big for it. This is the same dog that wore a size extra small in December, now he can't even fit into a size medium. I bet Doctor Sierra will be sending a nasty note home with Puff telling momma that ole butterball has to go on a diet. I'll help him diet because any cookies momma or daddy give him, I'll be sure to take them away when the humans aren't looking - BOL.

One of our pup pals Sam is missing. How terrible it must be for Sam and his family not to be together and to be wondering what has happened. I can't imagine life without the family that I have. How could I possibly survive without my momma or daddy or the rest of the family? I have my family trained just the way I like them and to have to retrain a new family might not be to my advantage (humans can be so difficult to house train) - BOL.

We feel for Sam's family and hope that they will be updating Sam’s diary with some really good news shortly. Sam, please go back home, your family misses you and wants to give you lots of hugs and kisses. We are praying for a happy outcome.

Southern California, Earthquakes, Fires and IOU's

July 2nd 2009 8:56 pm

Yup, the sunny state has it all; we shake, burn and skip out on our bills. There are several fires burning right now. One of them is so bad that the smoke was bellowing across the freeway and made driving hard. The fire that is closest to our house (about 10 miles away), is blacking a hill that has some custom homes on it. One home in particular is very noticeable from the freeway because the homeowners installed a white fence all around the house and the fence appears to go on for miles. The size alone suggests the homeowners probably have live stock, maybe horses. As momma and I were driving down the freeway, the flames were scorching the hill. It was too smoky to see if the house was intact or if that white fence survived. Helicopters were dropping water and there was also an air tanker releasing retardant. Even with the car windows closed the smell of burning brush penetrated the car and ash was falling on the windshield. With the sun setting the wind will pick up and make the fire more intense if the wonderful fire fighters don't get it knocked down soon. Another thing with the sun setting is that the air tanker and helicopter will be grounded, so only fire trucks and the brave men and women of the various fire departments will be left to battle the blaze.

We hope no one lost their lives, homes or pets. Fires are terrible and we actually fear them more than earthquakes. Were hoping the Governor of California does not issue any of the people fighting these flames a stupid I.O.U. as they deserve every penny they are paid.

It's HOT

July 1st 2009 8:12 pm

We live in Winchester, California which is part of Riverside County, but most who live here will say we are part of the Temecula Valley region, even though we aren't.

Let me tell you living here is nice when the sun isn't blazing down in its full glory. Today there weren't any clouds around and the ole sun was out in full force. IT IS HOT!!!

Puff and I are both panting and lying on the tiled floor instead of the daybed to try to stay cool. The humans have two fans going in the sewing room to help us stay cool, but thus far, it remains HOT.

Momma is still complaining that due to the water restrictions imposed on all in our area, she is not going to be able to fill up her three ring swimming pool this Fourth of July. I'm thrilled that she can't do that this year because last year, for reasons unknown to me, momma decided that I should share her pool with her.

I was minding my own business being the sweet little princess that I am, and was sitting by the side of the stupid swimming pool to keep momma company, when all of a sudden, momma got out, picked me up and put me dead smack in the middle of that cold water. I can only think that the sun affected her brain, because she knows I do not like water. She must have been suffering from heat stroke or something.

Momma knew immediately that I did not enjoy or want to enjoy her stupid three ring swimming pool because I started scratching her legs up trying to get the heck out of it.

Thankfully, momma recovered her mind quickly and placed me back on the patio. After that experience last year all I got to say is I'll give the first dog who sneaks over to our house and steals that swimming pool (it's stored in the small rabbit hutch in Arlenetons yard) a package of tasty pig ears.

Hugs and Kisses,

Coco Rose

Wow - I am one of the diary picks of the day. It's always a pleasure to be chosen, especially when you pick me and not Puff, my doggy brother - BOL.

Speaking of Puff, you will never guess what the little butterball did yesterday. Momma had a carton of Coca-Cola sitting on the kitchen floor. Well Puff decided to "water" the coca-cola for some unknown reason. The little guy up and let a healthy stream fly soaking the carton. Daddy was certainly upset when he discovered his cokes had another flavor on the cans. He took each can out of the soggy carton and washed them off.

I think it's safe to say "Sorry Coke, Puff has decided that Pepsi tastes better" - BOL

What you doing out there?

It's Sunday morning here in HOT southern California and where do you think momma was? Did you guess sitting on the daybed with her sweet little dogs? You would be wrong!!! She was outside cutting down huge weeds on one of the foreclosed homes. She told daddy that the weeds were ruining her view and she just couldn't take it any more. Puff and I barked and barked at her to take us with her because we could see her across the street but she ignored us.

Momma finally regained some sense because after one hour she came back in and started complaining that none of the other neighbors came outside to help her. Maybe the other neighbors are smarter than momma because they stayed inside with their air conditioners running.

My bunny sister Arleenton made it through the night without any problems. Daddy checked on her this morning and she was fine. Momma sat with her for a while tonight and told her she was sorry that Grayson left us. I asked momma if she was going to get Arleenton another friend and momma said no. Arleenton will be our last bunny. This weekend momma is going to let me go visit Arleenton and if I behave, she will let me sit with her for as long as I want. I'm going to try to be real good.

She was a pretty little baby bunny when my momma adopted her many years ago. Her soft tan fur would start turning gray right before the colder winter months arrived. This morning, she was found dead in the yard. Daddy buried her up on our hill and momma placed an angel marker on her grave.

Goodbye Grayson, we're all going to miss you, especially Arleneton. Logan Ben, and the rest of the gang will meet you on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.

Of course Puff the little butterball, will be right there next to me begging for cooked bacon too. Daddy will probably sit his behind on the sofa and watch tv.

Yesterday it was hot and humid at our house. Today it is cold with low laying clouds sitting around. Think I'll take another nap after I boss ole Puff around for a little while - got to continue to make sure he knows I am the top dog.

Summer is almost here

You can tell summer is coming because it is over cast and foggy in the morning then the sun comes out and it gets hot. Puff and I have been panting all day and can't seem to get comforable. We're both laying on the floor instead of the daybed to try to cool off. Momma has the fan going even though it's after nine at night but we are still hot. I wonder if I can talk momma into taking us to McDonalds for a soft ice cream - yummy.

Hairballs

I am a neglected little princess. Momma has been working on a quilt and has been spending all her "extra" time sewing. Puff and I lay up on the daybed and listen to the sewing machine going.

Momma laid out the quilt top on the floor and of course Puff and I had to go check it out. Everything looked quite nice to us, until Simba Blue our kitty brother came over and started hacking, yup; ole Simba had a hairball he decided to cough up, right then and there!

Momma quickly picked up the quilt top and just in time because Simba managed to barf up a tangled mess of hair and other stuff where the quilt top had been, but the projectiles landed on the carpet (everything nasty seems to end up on our carpets).

That ended the sewing for last night because momma had to get out the carpet cleaner and shampoo the carpet.

If I had a bag of kitty treats (no, I will not share MY treats with him), I would give them all to Simba because after the carpet was shampooed, momma turned off the sewing machine and climbed up on the daybed with us and we snuggled until we went to sleep.

Thank you Simba Blue!

Tonights the night

Tonight my brother Puff is going to have to sleep in his crate all by himself. The other night daddy had a stupid idea of making Puff sleep in the crate with me. I barked, growled and just plain whinnied but daddy would not separate us. It was so bad that I wanted someone to call the animal control people and report my humans. There should be a law against making me sleep with that little guy because he passes gas that can make your eyes cry.

It all happened so fast, I was minding my own business going to sleep in my crate when suddenly daddy came and woke me up and carried me into the other room and put me in the new crate with Puff. Want to guess what Puff did; he flopped down with his behind right in my face. It was terrible! I had to stay in the crate all night with him.

Can someone please send me some BENO?

Today there were thunderstorms, hail and lightning at my house. I got scared and hid in the closet with my kitty sister Bay-Ling. Daddy said it sounded like one of the lightning strikes was real close. It was way too close for me. I didn't like them at all.

Momma got a call earlier this week stating that our favorite groomer had left the Pepto Bismo Palace and was now working out of another salon that is a little further from where we live. Mom was going to make an appointment for me at the PBP, but she was very unhappy with how they cut my hair on my head last time. I looked like I had a flat top, so she made an appointment for me at the other salon. My groomer had to cut my hair down because it was so messed up, but that's okay because the hot summer months are just around the corner. I'm nice and pretty again and I smell really, really good.

Qulit making

Momma had the day off work today for Memorial day. She got up really early and started sewing on the quilt she is making. Me, I was still trying to get my beauty sleep and wished she would have turned off the light and gone back to bed.

Daddy woke up and let Puff come back into the sewing room with momma and me, he too was sleepy. It was only 4 oclock in the morning so we laid down on the daybed and watched momma sew for hours. When she finally got sleepy, she turned off the sewing machine and lights and climbed up on the daybed with us and finally went to sleep.

When momma woke up she started sewing on the quilt again - gosh, that's all she does lately is work on that quilt.

Simba Blue apparently had enough of the sewing also because he threw up a huge hair ball right on the foot petal of the sewing maching and on the carpet, so momma had to stop sewing and get out the carpet cleaner.

Thank you Simba, momma is done sewing - BOL.

Lilly

Yesterday momma took Puff and I out for two walks. The first one was early in the morning before the sun starting to blaze down and the second was after the sun had set.

We had a real nice walk until Lilly one of the dogs that live on the end of the block came running up to us. No, Lilly was not mean or nasty, she was actually quite friendly, but her hair was so matted that she must have been real unconfortable.

Lilly is a long hair dog but apparently her owner has fallen on hard times and has not found the funds to take care of Lilly's grooming needs. Momma didnt even reconize the dog that was out running loose was Lilly. When the dog approached, momma reached down and patted it and of course Puff and I did the required butt sniffs. Lilly was very friendly, but momma immediately saw and felt the matts. I have been know to get a mat or two when momma tries to let my hair grow out because I do not allow my momma to groom me. Lilly's matts were the type you see on Animal Planet where the humane Society come and take the dog away because of neglect.

It will cost about 40 - 50 dollars to take Lilly to the local groomer and they will have no option but to shave her down completely. Momma does not want to embarras lilly's owner, but she was thinking that maybe she can offer our clippers to the owner to use to cut the matts off of Lilly. If she calls the humane society and the dog is taken away, it will end up in a high kill shelter and the chances of it getting a second home is not favorable, but it might happen.

Daddy says momma should mind her own business because we don't want problems with the neighbors. Momma is still thinking of what she can do to help that poor dog.

What do I have to do?

When momma says the magic words: "Ni-night Coco" I run to my crate and wait for momma to zip the flap closed. Momma will then turn off the light in the sewing room and settle down on the daybed to watch TV until she falls asleep.

The night before last, I refused to settle down. I barked and barked until momma finally got up and let me out. I ran to the kitchen and got a drink of water then momma let me outside so I could go use the bathroom. When I came back in momma again said "Ni-night Coco" and I ran into my crate.

Off went the light and...

Bark, Bark, Bark, Bark - you get the picture.

Momma being the smart person she is, pretended she couldn't hear me (but she did) until daddy came and let me out - BOL. We went through the whole routine again.

Drink of water and outside for a bit, then "Ni-night Coco" and off to my crate I ran, again. Daddy zipped the flap close and off he went to the master bedroom with Puff.

I waited for a respectable 10 minutes, enough time for him to get nice and comfy, and then...

Bark, bark, bark, bark I started again.

Daddy yelled at me to be quite and I did for several minutes until I started barking again.

Finally daddy comes back into the sewing room and gets me out of the crate and low and behold, he takes me to the master bedroom and I got to sleep on the big bed with Puff and daddy all night long.

Last night momma says "Ni-Night Coco" and of course I ran into my crate and momma zipped the flap closed. This time, I did not bark, instead I unzipped the flap, a little trick I learned from Puff, and went running under the daybed. Momma had seen me escape and was watching to see what I was going to do. I had to be careful because Simba Blue likes to sleep under the day bed, but finally I found what I wanted - my pig ear! Yes, all the fussing was because the humans put me to bed without my pig ear. I don't actually eat or chew on it during the night; I just like to know it is in a safe place so I can enjoy it the next day.

Once I had my pig ear, I went back into my crate, momma zipped the flap, and I went to sleep.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

Daddy did what?

Daddy works out of the house so he is almost always home. There are advantages to this because he will turn on the air conditioner so the house stays cool when the hot sun blazes down. Today, daddy decided to set off bug bombs because we have been finding lots of spiders and ants in the house, so Puff and I got evicted - we had to spend more than four hours outside in the hot sun.

Daddy set off a total of six insect bombs in our tiny house. He put the kitties in the master bedroom and then put towels around the bottom of the door so the poison would not steep under and let the kitties stay in there while he bombed every room except for the master bedroom. Four hours later, he opened the windows to air the house out and let the kitties back into the main house, while he set off the last bug bomb in the master bedroom.

There really wasn't a reason why we could not stay in the house in the master bedroom with the kitties. It would have been more comfortable for us instead of being outside in the hot sun. Momma had asked daddy to wait until this weekend to do this so she could take us to the park during the time the bombs were going. Did Daddy listen? NO!

I whinnied, barked and carried on, but momma couldn't hear me because she did not have on her bionic ears, so I did the next best thing, I opened the flap of my crate, went into the kitchen and got a nice drink of water, then I came back into the sewing room, ran up the steps to the daybed and proceeded to give my sleeping momma lots of kisses to tell her happy mothers day. Of course my face was slopping wet but that added to the nice surprise. Momma woke up, gave me kisses and then we went back to sleep snuggling together.

Happy Mothers day to all

As you some of you know my momma did not like the comment feature on the diary pages so she contacted Dogster and the wonderful people there informed her that there is a very simple solution. If you go to Account Preferences/ Comment preferences/

You will get the below message.

Diary Comment Preferences

- Allow members and non-members to comment on my diary entries.

- I want to approve all diary comments before they go live

If you DO NOT want comments left on your diary pages, then make sure you leave both boxes unchecked.

Simple - problem solved.

Puff's new exercises

May 4th 2009 8:18 pm

My brother Puff has gained a "few" pounds so momma has decided he needs to get some exercise. The problem with this is momma tends to be kind of tired when she gets home from work so she has developed a exercise that Puff seems to like to do, that takes little effor on her part. She takes one of his toys and tosses it into the hallway and Puff jumps off the daybed, gets his toy them climbes the stairs, released the toy for mom to toss it again. He did this so much yesterday that he started to pant and mom didn't have to do anything except toss the toy. He finally told mom he was really tired when he turned his back on her and refused to give her the toy to toss again - BOL

Now if only Puff would stop eatting everything he can find to put in his mouth. He eats all of my snacks and cleans the kitty food plates up also. Momma has started feeding the cats on the center island because that's the one place Puff has not figured out how to get up on, yet. You got to hand it to the little fatty, he does enjoy his food.

Open letter to Dogster

May 3rd 2009 1:02 pm

Dear Dogster,

I have noticed your new feature regarding allowing readers to leave comments on diary entries. Sadly I must admit I have mixed reactions regarding this.

Prior to discovering Dogster, I spent a lot of time on Yahoo Answers usually writing short stories. Yahoo Answers allows fellow visitors to leave comments regarding the postings. I read some very heartwarming entries but at the same time, people would post comments regarding fellow Yahoo Answer entries that were nasty, mean and vicious. To compound this matter, people who were friends on the site, would band together and mass post stuff regarding other members who they thought deserved harassment for whatever reason.

It often felt like I was back in high school among bullies who wanted to control what everyone was doing and if someone had a different opinion regarding something, they were back balled, harassed and make fun of even though I was never the person other members were picking on.

Yahoo Answers tried to control such tactics but without much success. When you have millions of people on the site, I can certainly understand why that was. They finally incorporated a feature where you could block your entries from everyone except for people that you felt you wanted to read your entries.

I read some very disgusting comments that were sure to have upset the original poster and fellow readers. People tend to hide behind the fact that they really do not know who posts these entries and therefore feel freer to leave hurtful comments. I’m concerned that this new feature will turn have the same issues as Yahoo Answers does.

Many of us have made good friends with fellow Dogster people and have gotten to know them quite well, but I have to admit, I do not know most of you personally, although I would like to. We all live in different Cities, Counties, States and even Countries. I read the diary entries and look at the beautiful pictures of your wonderful dogs and enjoy each moment of it. I would like to think that most people will/would take into consideration fellow Dogster feelings prior to leaving a message, but having been on YA, I can tell you that is not the case with everyone. There have been times when I have read a diary and I though “Are they nuts”, but have chosen to ignore the entry instead of leaving a comment simply because my opinion was different then someone else’s. Should I be allowed to tell someone that the picture of their dogs face pasted on a human body looks stupid (sorry, it’s just not my thing)?

I love Dogster and Catster and will continue to visit the sites, however if it turns out to be like Yahoo Answer, where I no longer visit, I will stop posting diary entries.

For those who disagree with this entry, please do not leave me a comment as I have enough stress in my life and can do without more.

Thank you,

Marilynn

Yesterday, momma came home early from work because she has the flu. Momma never misses work so I figured she was really sick. I like momma being home, but it's no fun when she is sick.

That wasn't fun bye-bye

This morning momma got up, let Puff and I outside to do our business, then asked us if we wanted to go bye-bye. Of course I danced around and ran to the front door letting momma know that I was ready, just open the door. I should have know something wasn't quite right when momma came out with Puff in the carrier and loaded him into the car. Daddy picked me up and them took me to the car and put me in my car seat. With in minutes, momma was driving us down the road to the groomers. Yup, it was bath and comb out day for us. We were shampooed, rinsed, combed and dried. This was not my idea of a fun bye-bye.

There was a fun part when momma handed Puff over to the groomers and told her to be careful because Puff tried to bite someone, and the groomer started laughing and Puff just looked at her with his goofy look on his face. So much for the mean aggressive dog act, he was totally busted and was a really good boy the whole time there.

Momma took pictures of us and will post them shortly, but daddy had removed the pretty pink and silver bows they put in my hair before momma got a chance to take the pictures.

Hugs and kisses to all - welcome back Tiberus and Dylan, we missed you so much!!!

Ever since Puff has moved in with us, he has been getting a lot of attention. Momma and daddy have been working with Puff to make him feel more secure and I have to say he is doing much, much better than when he first moved in here. He no longer shakes like he did, but momma pointed out that some of the shaking might have been because he was so thin and he has put on a "little" weight. I don't care what the folks say about Puff, I think the little fatty is still cute , and you should see his fat little legs go when he chases after Simba Blue our kitty brother, he can really move - BOL.

Tomorrow Puff and I are going to the groomers me for the full princess treatment and Puff for the stinky dog special - BOL. While we are gone, momma will wash all the beding on the daybed and clean out my crate. She is even thinking about shampooing the carpet so that the whole sewing room is nice and clean.

That brings up another thing, Puff has not tinkled on the carpet for about one month now, his new record, but this may be premature as momma is going out to lunch with her girlfriend today so Puff may get upset and leave a present on the carpet. I let you know if he was a good doggy later.

Live Easter Bunnies

April 12th 2009 4:01 pm

As most of my friends know I have two real live bunny sisters. Arleenton and Grayson are their names and they have a real nice area outside that is fenced off with their bunny hutch, plants and just space to hop around in. When it's not too hot, momma will let them into the main yard so they can hop around and eat whatever they want to eat from our garden.

Today is Easter and some families have gotten little baby bunnies as presents for the children to enjoy. Let me tell you about bunnies. Depending on where you live, rabbits are considered to be "exotic" animals and taking them to the vet can get very expensive. That cute little bunny that you now have, will grow up and become mature rabbit within 4 months and when that happens, they can turn from a sweet loving bunny to a mean, nasty and biting rabbit overnight. This stage occurs when the rabbit hormones kick in and little Fluffy wants to go play with the opposite sex. If there is no bunny close by, little Fluffy will try to mate with the cat, dog or even a stuffed animal. You can avoid this stage by having the bunny sterilized but as mentioned above it can be very expensive. Where we live the cost of doing this is 500 dollars per rabbit. The increased cost is because not all vets will take on a rabbit as a client and rabbits need special medications and handling.

Rabbits are also destructive animals and if you choose to keep little Fluffy in the house, be prepared for the smell as their urine stinks. Additionally, some like to dig so expect holes to be dug in your carpets, wired to be chewed on, and one of my all time favorites is eating the door frames.

There are also health issues: Some rabbits have a problem with their teeth not growing correctly. Arleenton is one of these and she has to go to the rabbit vet several times during the year to have her front teeth clipped down and filed - the last visit was well over 200 dollars.

Rabbits are also sensitive to heat so their home has to be out of direct sun. In addition, there are certain diseases that are very fatal to rabbits.

Yes, baby bunnies are really cute, but not all rabbits like to be held, petted or handled. One never knows what you are getting. That cute little 2 pound bunny that was sold to you as a "mini" might actually be a giant who will grow up to be well over 20 pounds.

If you decide that the kids are not taking care of little Fluffy as you expected and you just don't have the time for another pet, please do not release the rabbit in the country or in a empty field as these pet rabbits do not have the skills to take care of themselves, it would be more humane to find them another home or to take them to the animal control group.

With the proper care, rabbits can live long and happy lives. They can be trained to use the potty box just like cats. If you are lucky to get a really sociable rabbit, it will sit with you and watch TV or play fetch. As with any pet, the success of the pet in the home has to do with the time and attention you are will to give the pet.

I love my bunnie sisters!

I have to admit, we are out of zealies, so those of you who did not get a pretty little bunny from us this Easter, please do not think it is because you are less liked than others because that just isn't the case. We can no longer afford to buy extra zealies throughout the year, so once the zealies we do have are given away, such as right now, then we just have to make do without any.

That being said, we want to wish each and everyone of you a very happy Easter. Who knows, Dogster might be planning another contest and we can reap a bunch of zealies again - LOL.

Today I'm going to talk about Simba Blue and Puff. I learned real fast when I was a small puppy not to get too close to Simba's front paws because he will strike out with his claws if he feels like it. Now don't get me wrong, I love Simba but he is the Alpha male in this family. Sometimes Simba likes to lie in the hallway just so I can’t get through. He does this to mess with me and when I get my courage up, and run by him, he moves his paws just to scare me more. Other times, Simba will jump up on the daybed and lie next to me and take a nap. He’s really a nice brother although the neighborhood cats don’t like him because Simba wants to go outside and beat them up, you should see and hear him when one of them walk by the windows - BOL.

Puff on the other hand is a real good target for me to boss around. He has to do what I want him to do because I am the princess. He sometimes tries to resist, but I always get my way with him. Last night I was laying on the daybed having my tummy rubbed by momma and Puff tried to make momma pet him instead. In his clumsyness, he jumped on my tummy. Well I don't have to tell you that I did not like that at all and I jumped up, got right in his face and proceeded to tell him off. I told him off really good then I went back to momma and continued to have my tummy rubbed and Puff just stood there like a little ole lost dog that he can sometimes be .

Oh, I forgot, I have a little secret, Puff is going to be sleeping in the crate again. He is currently sleeping with momma but she does not like him in bed with her because he hogs up the bed. When momma went to Pet Smart last week she found a crate warming pad for dogs and she got it so that Puff can stay nice and toasty at night in his own little crate. No more sleeping with momma starting tonight. He is going to bark his silly little head off.

Hugs and kisses,

As most of you know, my daddy works from the house. He asked Puff and I if we wanted to go Bye-Bye today. Of course I went running to the front door ready to go someplace with daddy. Puff followed and daddy took us out to the truck and put us on the seat. He got into the truck and off we went but soon daddy turned the truck around and pulled back into the driveway. He had forgotten his wallet and went back inside the house to get it. When he got back to the truck, the engine was running and Puff and I were still inside, along with his truck key. It's a good thing for him that the air conditioner was running because it took AAA over thirty minutes to get to our house and pop the lock. We didn't get to go Bye-Bye afterwards. Don't think I want to go Bye-Bye with daddy anymore.

Today is my birthday - I'm three years old. Momma bought a big bag of lamb fillets for me yesterday. The bag is so big that I'm going to share them with my brother Puff.

Speaking of Puff, he has been out of his silly ole diapers for over one month and everything is going well. Daddy has not had to shampoo the carpet in over two weeks because Puff has finally stopped doing his business in the house. That has made the humans happy and has taken some of the stress off of Puff. Puff still is not allowed to roam the house at will because the humans don’t quite trust him yet, so if they can’t watch him, both of us are put in the sewing room with the baby gate across the opening. I like being in the sewing room because I nap on the daybed.

Sad fact

This morning in our local news paper was an article regarding the workload of one of the Animal Control departments. When I live there are two animal Control departments. One is in charge of Murietta, Temecula and Lake Elsinore. The one that the paper pertained to was the Riverside County Shelter and it is in charge of Winchester (where I live), Riverside county and all the way to the Arizonia boarder.

Last year, this shelter euthanized 26,641 dogs and cats. They picked up 1,444 animals. It doesn't take a lot of intelligence to figure out that apparently they are putting to death more turned in dogs and cats than picked up dogs - how sad.

My brother Puff has been in our family a little over three months now. In all that time, he has usually respected my claims on the cookies I get. He did not like pig ears or the Nyla bones. I don't know where I went wrong at but I'm very sad right now because Puff is chomping away on MY pig ear. I'm trying to be good about it and I'm laying on the daybed giving him dirty looks but he continues to chomp away on MY pig ear. Momma felt sorry for me so she got me a new pig ear, but it's not the same. Why did he decide to take MY pig ear? He didn't even ask me if I was done with it, he just took it and is enjoying it so much that I'm certain there will be nothing left of it when he is done. I tried to pretend that I was really liking the new pig ear, and was hoping he would drop MY pig ear and come over and take the new one, but it didn't work. I'm going to have to have a word or two with Puff later.

Daddy said that Puff needs a nice crate to sleep in and when Puff is in his crate he cries so he decided that Puff and I could share my crate. Let me tell you I had Puff out of my crate within five minutes. I share my daybed, toys and dinner dish. I am NOT going to share my bed or cookie stash with Puff no matter what. This is being done so that he learns to go to the bathroom outside and not on the carpet like he has been doing. Thus far though, Puff has shown the humans that he is one cleaver, but stubborn fellow. He has learned to climb on top of the hard crate and jump to freedom. The humans then took the hard crate out of the prison cell and replaced it with a soft cloth one thinking that Puff would not be able to climb on that. Wrong, the little tyke quickly assessed the situation and jumped on top of the soft crate, balanced carefully and sprung over the training pen bars like he has been doing that all his life. I have to admit I was awe struck especially since he did this with one of his stuffed toy in his mouth. Next the humans removed the crate completely so after standing around barking his silly little head off, he decided enough and tried to dig his way out. Everything was going along fine until bits of carpet were flying around. I should mention that 3MM plastic has been put on top of the carpet before the training pen was placed on top of the carpet, so that means that Puff has dug a hole in both the plastic that was placed on top of the carpet and the carpet.

Our dog trainer says that the naughty dog will pee on the plastic and not like getting pee on his feet. It should soon learn to pee on the sod that is in the cat litter box that is in the training pen with the dog. Once the naughty dog gets the idea to pee on the grass instead of the plastic all should be good. Well, Puff has proven to be quite a challenge. Apparently he doesn’t mind pee on his feet – YUCK!

When momma went to the store today, she left Puff in the Prison but when she got back home about one hour later, Puff greeted her at the door with a smile on his face. Lucky for Puff he had not left any presents on the carpet. He had peed on the plastic before he had escaped – BOL. Momma found an old medicine syringe that was used for the bunnies and used the syringe to suck up the pee and then squirted it on the grass hoping he would start using the sod as his bathroom instead of the plastic when he is in jail. And what did Puff get for his wonderful escape? He got a bath – BOL. Momma said he wasn’t going to get up on her daybed with pee on his feet.

What weighs 9 pounds, is white and wants to bite the hand in front of it's face?

Give up?

The answer is Puff.

Yes, my brother tried to bite our neighbors hand this afternoon. Momma is very upset and has alerted the dog trainer of this occurance. Dog trainer says to continue working on the lessons given and that she will call daddy tomorrow.

Oh Puff you did a very bad thing today.

I've been trying to be extra nice to Puff because he was kicked out of obidience class . Sheesh, he didn't even last 30 minutes before he was told to leave. I feel sorry for him because he is so scared of everything. Momma has been making me take him outside to do his business because if he is let outside by himself, all he does is barks and scratches on the sliding glass door. He won't do his business without soemone being with him. The good news is that he is out of that silly ole diaper but now we are both locked in the sewing room all day. I don't mind because I love laying on the daybed and looking out the window to watch the world go by. Puff is more relaxed in there too so it appears to be working out fine. I get to wressle with him all day long and that's fun. Just wish he would stop being so scared.

Dearest Coco Rose

I just read Mallory's diary and her human paid a tribute to her. How loving and special that is on Valentines Day. I too am going to do the same - Thank you Mallory for the wonderful idea!

We saw an ad in the newspaper for Shih Tzu puppies. When we visited the puppies, there were two left. One was your brother a very eager black little boy and the runt of the litter, you. You were laid back and calm. Your brother was hyper and couldn't seem to settle down. The decision was made immediately to select you. What a wonderful decision that turned out to be.

You are a smart, happy and very spoiled little princess. Your human daddy and I are completely wrapped around your little paws. There is nothing we would not do for you to make sure you remain as you are. We are blessed that we are able to have you in our lives. We love you dearly and I mean that from the bottom of my heart.

Happy Valentines Day Coco Rose - I love you.

Yippee - it's almost time. Puff is going to school tomorrow. It's about time that little yapper gets some manners. All he does is follow me around and yap, yap, yap. I can't get a moments peace and quite. Momma has been working with him so he now knows the sit command, but that's it. I want to go to class and watch him but momma says she is taking daddy so that he can learn how to work with Puff during the day while momma is at work. With him gone for an hour I will be able to chomp on one of my cookies without having to worry about him taking it from me, that will be nice.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

Tag game II

February 12th 2009 7:57 pm

"I was tagged by Tiberius and Buddy to play The "Getting to Know You 2009" Game! I answered the 10 questions earlier in my diary, so I am making up TEN MORE questions so we all can keep on playing and getting to know even MORE about one another!"

First you read then delete MY answers and add your own. Copy this and then paste it into your diary. Choose four friends to tag, and send them a rosette for playing.

Here's the "Getting to Know You 2009" (Part TWO) Game!

1) How did you discover Dogster?
A friend sent my mom his Dogster page and she loved it. She had never seen the site before this and couldn’t believe all the dogs on it. Having just lost Logan Ben, she was fixed on going through all the Old English Sheepdogs.

2) What color are your toenails?
Black but I want mom to paint them glittery!

3) Do you have a favorite season of the year?
I have never been in the snow nor have I even seen it. I suspect I like summer the best because my humans BBQ a lot and that means I get grilled treats.

4) Where do you sleep at night?
Now that Puff has joined our family, I have been sent back into my crate. Mom said the daybed was too crowded for two dogs, one cat and her.

5) Have you ever gone on any special trips?
I’ve been to the beach once. Mom was going to take Puff and I to the beach a few weeks ago, but she was afraid Puff might run away if he was let off the leash. She decided the beach would have to wait until Puff is better trained. We went to Lake Skinner instead, but it was too hot for me so we came home. I did go to grandpa’s house and was a perfect little princess (puff was scared).

6) What do you like best about your family?
They spoil me like you wouldn’t believe. I do not want for anything. I get lots of love, belly rubs, toys and food.

7) What makes you the happiest? When my mom kisses me and makes funny noises – I try to duplicate them back to her.

8) If you got to be on the show "PET STAR", what would you do for your special talent? Probably chomping on a bully stick or any other type of treat.

9) Have you or are you currently attending any classes?
I went to dog obedience class when I was younger and passed at the top of the class. Sometimes it’s hard to believe as I still refuse to “stay” or do the “come” command, but what do you expect from a princess?

10) What would you say is the most interesting thing about you?
I love my bunny sisters. I get a lot of enjoyment playing tag with them. Puff is probably never going to be allowed to play with them because he is too aggressive and isn’t afraid of anything. Momma is afraid that he would hurt one of them. Me, I would never hurt my bunny sisters even if I did catch one of them.

I'll tag some pals this weekend - got to go watch Survivor and eat buttered popcorn.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

Dogster diary pick of the day

OMG – I’m one of the Dogster diary picks of the day. There are thousands of dogs on Dogster and I have the honor of being one of the dogs selected. Thank you everyone for the congratulations and presents.

Dogster has given me much pleasure. I enjoy getting to know everyone when my human reads me your diaries. I must confess a lot of you have very interesting lives and I wish I could do some of the wonderful things that you get to do. Do you know that I have never seen snow but who know, maybe one day?

I laugh and wish it were me when one of my pals does something naughty, such as shredding paper. I love to shred anything made out of paper, but don't get many chances because my humans don't leave many things out for me to get my teeth on.

I get sad when I hear bad news regarding pup pals or their humans, but hardships are part of life. With all bad things, good come at some point. I am truly amazed at how everyone seems to understand the need to support one another with kind words, knowledge and just plain ole friendship.

I should also point out that my human spends HOURS on Dogster and Catster playing the contests in order to win zealies that are promptly give away to new and old pals alike.

I am now and always will be a loyal Dogster pup.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

Terrible

February 8th 2009 4:25 pm

Yesterday was a terrible day!

We received word from one of our pup pals that she had an accident and broke one of her arms. Normally this is not a big deal as you go to the doctor and get it mended. However for our middle aged friend (okay, slightly, slightly older), this is a major problem. You see she is the soul provider for her little family. For many years she has been a nurse and has taken care of many different people. Now she could use some help. To protect her identify we are going to call her Ms. "C" and ask you to please pray that she has a quick and full recovery - thank you.

Yesterday I had some surgery to remove growths from my body and since I was under the vet cleaned my teeth and clipped my nails. I have fully recovered and am back to bossing Puff around.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

Lazy Sunny day

January 31st 2009 1:20 pm

It's a nice lazy sunny day here in California. Momma took down the christmas lights on the potted plant in the front of the house and strung them across the arbor at the side of the house. These are multi-colored LED solar lights that mom found in one of the may stores that are going out of businees locally. Dad had been nagging mom to take the lights down but mom kind of liked them. To quite dad, she to them down but put them someplace else - BOL.

Puff is still giving the folks some problems so momma contacted a dog trainer and she is going to arrange for a free demo where he will come out to our house and discuss what the issues are and how he thinks we should deal with them. Momma isn't sure if this is the trainer she wants to go with because they won't tell how much the lessons cost and it looks like they use shock collars on their dogs - OUCH. it's an option but the goal is to get Puff out of the diapers and be able to trust him when he is in the house, which we can't do right at the moment.

Got to go daddy just came back from the store and he has a sandwich - got to go stare at him until I get some.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

Puff has worms and has to go to the vet today so what is momma going to do? Drag me to the vet also - NOT FAIR!!! I don't have worms so why do I have to go see Dr. Sierra? I don't want to go and I will refuse to walk into the building. At first Puff was very timid when he came to live here and would follow me all over the place. Momma told me I had to be nice and share my toys with him . Puff had nothing but the blue stuffed dog that the adoption agency gave him. Now he has clothes, toys and food. I guess he was just sharing more than we wanted - worms. The Princess can't have worms, it's un royal. How will I live this down?

Puff my playmate

Things have certainly changed since Puff has joined the family. I get to sleep in my crate if I choose or on the daybed with mom. Sometimes I pick the crate cuz momma tosses and turns all night long and SNORES. Maybe we can put Puff's anti-bark collar around momma's neck at nigth to train her to be quite - BOL/

Puff still has his potty issues and continues to wear a diaper during the day but I like the little tyke. We play all the time now and I finally have someone that I can boss around. He may be older than me, but I am the Princess so what I say goes.

Momma thinks he may have tape worms because he had fleas real bad and now that the fleas are gone he is licking his hinny, so when he goes to the vet on Saturday momma is going to have them check.

All in all, I happy he is here. It's nice to have a playmate.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

Lake Skinner

Mom took the day off work and was supposed to take Puff and I to the beach, but after doing all of the running around that she had to do, decided to take us to Lake Skinner instead because it is much closer to home. Puff and I had a great time, we walked around the lake and stopped and had lunch that momma brought with her. Puff went running towards the water but because pets are not allowed within 50 feet of the water, momma had to grab him before she got a fine. The bad thing is there was something at Lake Skinner that has caused me to sneeze uncontrollably. Momma is going to call the vet and take me in this morning for a allergy shot (OUCH). It was a fun outting so I won't even complain about getting a shot. Puff really enjoyed himself and is becoming a good brother. The whole time mom was out running around, Puff did not use the carpet as his potty. - Good Puff!

Bunnies

You can see the bunny yard from the house when you look outside the small bathroom window. This morning momma heaved up the shades and instead of seeing my bunny sisters saw Simba (not MY Simba, but the Orange Simba that lives down the block), coming out of the hay fort that momma built for my bunny sisters. Arleneton and Grayson my bunny sisters just looked at Simba and didn't even seem to care. The neighborhood cats like to go visit with my bunny sisters and since it's been getting cold at night they like a nice warm place to sleep. Wonder if momma will let me go play in the hay fort?

Puff my new brother has been here almost two months and he still has not learned it is not allowed to use the carpet as a bathroom. He has gotten much better on his barking though. Momma has taught him to "sit" which is a start. Poor little guy is going to be five years old next month and has no manners. Daddy says he will be happy with Puff when he is potty trained. Me, I don't mind having him here and as long as he is the one getting in trouble it makes me look super good - BOL.

Thank you Dogster

I am humbled and honored to be one of the diary picks of the day. Who would have believed that humans would actually love to read about what other dogs and cats do in their lives? It was through Dogster that my mom has met some wonderful friends that share the love of their four legged "children" as much as my mom does.

It is through Dogster that I can tell all that my new brother Puff has to wear a silly pink diaper (yup, I had to tell), until he learns not to potty in the house - BOL.

Dogster also allows me to offer love, hope and encourgement to sick and old fur friends that need a helping paw. Someday my time will come when I too will be where they are at.

Dogster allows me to laugh when one of my pals does something naughty and I wish I could get aways with the same thing. I get to see lots of wonderful pictures of such beautiful fur children and hear about what is going on in each others lives.

Dogster also have contests that allow my mom to spend hours on the computer earning free zealies so we can give them out to all of our pals. Thank you Dogster, I really love you!

I am without a doubt a very spoiled princess and I wish more than anything that every dog and cat could have all the love, care and devotion that I get. I am a beautiful black dog and have a very good life and I love to tell everyone all about it.

Hugs and Kisses,

Coco Rose

PS - Dogster, please put a spell check on the diary entries, my momma needs it badly :-)

Coco, it's just a little earthquake, you can ignor it. It's only when you hear the really loud rumbling and the house violently shakes do you have to worry.

Christmas is over and momma has been busy cleaning out the closets. She remembered that I have a pink pajamma but could not find it any place (momma has been misplacing lots of stuff lately). After looking all over, she found it right where it should have been, but it doesn't fit me any longer because it is a size small and I now wear a size medium and there is no way I can squeeze into them any more. If any of my pup pals wear a size small, just let my momma know and she will send you all of the stuff I can no longer fit into.

Vacation is over and momma has to go back to work tomorrow. Puff is going to be upset and will cry for hours. Momma got him a disk to hang on his collar that is suppose to help keep him calm. She also ordered Leader Of The Pack by Ceasar Millan to help with training of Puff. I like the little guy but he can be noisy and unsure of himself at times. I'm doing my best to help train him, but mom doesn't always approve of my training methods. I yap at him right in his face and if that doesn't get his attention, then I nip him in a very sensitive spot, his wee-wee. Yes, gets results immediately!

I had a break from my brother Puff today. He had a vet visit and they wanted to keep him for a few hours just to observe him so I had most of the day all to myself and boy it was actually kind of nice. He is back home and bugging me again - BOL. Running all over the house with a toy in his mouth and jumping up on my momma. Momma told me she is going to find out how to stop him from doing this and I for one will be glad when that happens. Every time I catch him jumping up on momma, I run over to him and try to push him down. I know the rules and am only trying to help - BOL.

Happy New Year Message

January 1st 2009 7:21 am

What a year it’s been! For some of our Dogster pals it has been a very hard and sad year. Beautiful and spirited Elvis crossed over to the Rainbow bridge as did three members of the loving Chicago Crew family (RemoTheRed, LuckyLucy and WINston). Cherokee the best bird dog ever has recently joined the Rainbow gang as did Wilby after a courageous fight for life. With each passing we have cried many tears for life is precious and we know the families are sad and hurting when their loved ones are gone. We have also cried happy tears that continue to fall when we read about and cheer on Babybear who is learning to walk again after fracturing his neck. What a great family Babybear has for not giving up on him after he was injured. Come on Babybear, we know you can do it!!!

Through Dogster we have gotten to know each one of our Pup Pals and some of their families too. Pookie, Fluffy Lee, Max and Wilby are dearly loved and to this day, I have to admit I think the side portrait of Ms. Pookie is one of the most beautiful pictures EVER – sure am glad we “stole” a copy of it for our own. Fluffy Lee, you certainly are a very handsome fellow and I have appreciated your momma’s help with the problems I’m having with Puff. We love our Florida BFF. The Dobie brothers Roman, Tiberius and Dylan are always very close to our hearts. We eagerly read their diaries and have enjoyed the special pictures their momma makes for us. Raelene, I love your boys and have to admit I have a very special place in my heart for Tiberius because for some reason he reminds me of Logan Ben although Tiberius is not neurotic like Logan was – go figure. I also value your words of wisdom and encourgement regarding my new fur baby Puff. And who would not love Sierra and Mojotiki and Tinkerbell Forever and Halo Kitty? They are two different families but with very spirited Chihuahuas. Of course we could not forget to mention family and we do love Dixie and Trixie Mae our special cousins. Lorrie, your little gal Trixie Mae is growing up. She brings you laughter and delight as did Dixie before she was called to the Rainbow Bridge. To each one of you, thank you for being there for us – we love you more than you know.

Some of our Dogster pals have been very vocal on their views – Sully and Socks are loved for being out front with what they believe and we applauded them for being braver than we are to express what they feel deeply about. Also, let’s not forget about how wonderful it was for you to take in Socks after the tragedy that occurred in her family. Sully has gained a wonderful sister.

Dixie BlackPearl is a perfect example as to why people should adopt a black dog. Black dogs are wonderful. I was looking at Coco Rose the other day, and of course I am biased, but I was thinking how beautiful she is and what a perfect little dog she has become. Black dogs are wonderful but sadly they ARE put to death more than any other dog in the shelters. So, why did I turn around and adopt a white dog recently some of you might be asking yourselves? Because he was almost five years old and supposed to be house broken. They got me on house broken – LOL.

Priscilla, you have certainly earned the right to say good-bye to a foul and crappy year. With Elvis going to the Rainbow Bridge, your momma’s truck accident and then your two emergency surgeries one can only hope 2009 is much better for you.

This year we have also been very fortunate to gain a Dogster pal “across the pond” in England. Teddy we love you and want to continue being friends and learning more about you.

We wonder what has happened to some of our Dogster pals who never post pictures or diary entries anymore. I must confess that when Coco Rose, Logan Ben or Puff gets tagged by one of our Dogster pals, we have begun tagging pals who have not been active in a while. There are two reasons for this. 1) We hope tagging one of the inactive pals will stimulate them to post an entry. 2) Not all active pals are willing to play because some are tagged constantly and do not wish to join in anymore, yes, this was another lesson learned the hard way like the Frazee collars was.

To the Dogster clubs, sorry, but I can not figure out how to navigate around them so Coco Rose, Puff and I usually stay away. Technology is wonderful for those who know how to use the tools on hand. This old gal just doesn’t have the knowledge or time to learn, so sadly we do not come out and play with you.

Well this is getting kind of long and we would like to acknowledge each and every one of our pals, but you all know who you are. Thank you for being our pals and each one of you are special in your own way. You have brought us lots of happiness and it’s nice to read about your lives no matter how small the entry may be. I wish each one a very Happy New Year.

Marilynn – Coco, Puff and Logan’s mom

Yup, Puff has fleas. Poor little tyke has been scratching ever since he moved in. Momma gave him a bath tonight and discovered the fleas on him. After picking off all she could find, she gave him another hair cut and then dried him off and applied Advantix to him and me. Momma is going to put Advantage on the kitties later (DO NOT PUT ADVANTIX ON CATS) but wants to wait a day or two because Simba is sick again. Puff is sleeping right next to me and I have to say he smells much better now - BOL

Merry Christmas everyone

Santa has come and left lots of toys and treats for the family. Puff and I got tons of stuff. Puff is claiming all of the toys and I am taking all of the treats. Of course, once I work my way through all of the treats, then all of the toys become mine - BOL.

We went to Grandpa's house yesterday and I got to play with Heidi and Molly my doggie cousins. Puff was too afraid that he was going to be passed off to another person that he just sat on the sofa with momma the whole time instead of playing with Heidi or Molly. Me, I've been over to Grandpa's house before and I knew that I would be going back home with momma and daddy. The cousins tried to be nice to Puff and welcomed him but he was afraid. I think Molly really liked Puff, but he ignored her. Momma says we have to give Puff time to adjust to his new life. Daddy says Puff would be a perfect little dog if only he would stop going to the bathroom in the house. I probably shouldn't mention that momma bought Puff a PINK diaper and took it with her when we went to Grandpa's house. Puff was lucky because momma didn't make him wear it, instead, held Puff the whole time we were in Grandpa's house so he didn't get a chance to pee anyplace he shouldn't have. When we went outside, momma put Puff down and both cousins were drooling over his good looks, but Puff wanted nothing to do with them. He sniffed around the yard and the cousins sniffed Puff, but other than that, he ignored both of them. Maybe next time Puff will have more fun with the cousins.

Anyways, when we got home we opened all of the presents that Santa had brought. I'm in heaven, treats, treats and more treats. I also got so many toys that I don't know what one to play with first. I was so caugth up in my treats, that I still don't know what toys I actually got. Momma just stopped giving them to me because I wanted to chew on one of my new treat and that's what I did all night long. I have half of the chew bone left and I'm guarding it with my life right now. Puff was like a wild child and wanted to play with every toy.

Thank you Dogster pals for helping to make this a very Merry Christmas for Puff and I. We wish you all the best of the holiday season, not only today, but everyday.

What the heck?

First thing this morning momma put Simba Blue my kitty brother in MY kitchen port-a-crate and hauled him to the vet. He's not sick but it's the once a year teeth cleaning time, so that means my turn will be next – YUCK! Puff my new doggy brother had his done two weeks ago, and now has pretty white teeth. The vet did blood work and gave Simba his shots today and gave momma some antibiotics to give to Simba before they will clean his teeth.

Daddy has been complaining that Puff is still having "accidents" in the house. Funny, Puff doesn't have any problems when momma is home. Momma thinks the whole thing is a result of daddy not watching Puff like he should be.

I have to tell you that I am enjoying my new brother. We sleep in separate crates at night and when I get up in the morning the first thing I do is run over to Puff's crate to see how he is doing. Then I go drink some water and I'm ready to go outside and do my morning business. Momma likes me to take Puff with me so he will start doing his business at the same time as me. I'm really not too crazy with this arrangement because sometimes I do want my privacy, however it makes my momma happy so I will continue to let him follow me around.

Got to go take a nap now and dream of all the presents Santa will be bringing me.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

One week with Puff

Okay, I have to admit I like the little guy. It's nice to have someone I can boss around and he is pretty nice. The only thing I find to be annoying about him is that when I do a pee-pee he has to stick his nose right in it. Sheesh, can't a gal do her business without being bothered? I do a pee-pee and he runs over and sniffs sniff - lifts a back leg and pees on top of my pee-pee. What's with that? Is he trying to tell me that his pee-pee is better than mine?

All in all, he is a very nice brother. I don't even mind sharing my momma because momma is still giving me lots of attention and I'm pretty independent so I like being with momma but don't want to he held or nothing. Puff likes lying right next to momma under the covers. Momma says that's because he doesn't have a lot of body fat, but the vet says Puff is "normal" weight. We were surprised to find out that he weighs 7.1 pounds. Heck, there's no dog there compared to me and I'm not fat and no, I am not going to tell you how much I weigh, so don't even think about asking!

We're still fussing over MY stairs, but not as often. This sharing stuff is confusing and sometimes I forget that I'm supposed to be sharing. Simba is having a hard time with Puff at night because he wants to curl up next to momma but Puff has taken his spot. Now he curls up right next to me at the foot of the daybed instead and give Puff the ole evil eye - it's so funny.

Got to go for our walk now.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

Advantages of having a adopted brother

Yes, I have to admit there are lots of advantages of having an adopted older brother.

1) He is so busy getting in trouble that my humans ignor the bad stuff I have been doing.

2) He is so needy that my humans are having to exercise him alot, thus I too get to go on walks.

3) He is too thin so my humans are feeding him more and I get to clean up what he doens't want to eat.

4) I have someone I can boss around (I really like this one).

5) I have a companion to play with.

6) He is a good watchdog so I can now go back to being the Princess and leave the watching to him.

7) He needs grooming so hopefully momma and daddy won't take me to the groomers for a while, but will take Puff instead.

8) Simba my big kitty brother has decided to pick on Puff instead of me for a change.

9) He doesn't like the same treats I do except for those delicious Lamb Fillets, so I don't have to share too much with him.

10) And the very best thing about having Puff here is that he now has a forever home.

Being a sister to Puff is tiring. I have finally figured out that he is not going away. He really isn't so bad, but I still find it hard to share my momma. I do enjoy walking around the block with him. However every time I stop to water something, he rushes over and lifts his leg to water on top of what I've done. Why can't he find his own personal spot? It's kind of annoying when he does this. One of these times he is going to water right on me and then he better watch out!!!

He is going to go to my vet today for a check up. I didn't have the heart to tell him all of the terrible stuff the vet is going to do to him, like sticking the stick up his hind end. He will find this out in due time.

Momma says that I have been a really good girl with Puff and that she is really proud of me.

Hugs and kisses,

Well I keep on waiting for the play date with Puff to be over, but each night he goes to bed here and he wakes up every morning and is still here. Something tells me that he is not going to be leaving. I have to admit it's nice having him go on walks with me. Another good thing is that he does not like the same treats that I do. I love nice tasty pig ears to chew on and Nyla bones, but Puff doesn't like either. However, he does like those wonderful tasty Lamb Fillets. He gobbles them down faster than I do. Now I am out of Lamb Fillets but momma told me that she would get another package this weekend.

Simba Blue is still taunting Puff by walking up to him and hissing, but Puff just ignores him. Got to admit I admire that in him cuz Simba is one very BIG kitty and I stay away from him when he gets in one of his moods.

All in all, Puff is really nice but don't tell momma I said that.

Hugs and Kisses,

Well its official, momma and daddy adopted "Puff" the four year old Maltese that was looking for a home. He was one of the many animals that have been affected by changes in the home. For him, his human parents were going through a divorce so his dad turned him into a local animal rescue group. The lady that I barked and carried on at the other night brought him over to our house today, and I really liked him, of course I wasn’t aware that he was not going to leave like my other play dates have done in the past. I was really good and showed lots of interest in him, but he didn’t want to play, just kept on running around and jumping up on the lady that brought him over. Momma and daddy were real surprised that he is so skinny as his back bones can easily be felt. Momma says that isn’t a problem because there has never been an animal or person that she has not fattened up, and both daddy and I can testify to that.

Puff has already made momma pull out the carpet cleaner because he peed on the carpet. Now if that would have been me, I would have been in so much trouble, but he didn’t get in trouble at all. That just does not seem fair to me at all.

He doesn’t appear to have interest in playing. Momma tried to get him to play ball, but each time she threw the ball I ran after it and grabbed it, I just couldn’t help myself. He just followed along and when I finally got tired of that game, momma again tried to get him to play but he didn’t want to. Of course being here is all new to Puff as it’s only been a few hours and he must be wondering what has happened to the lady that brought him here. I’ve only had two homes in my short life span, the home where I was born, and then eight weeks later, this home. I love my momma and daddy and don’t want for nothing, as I am a very spoiled princess. Puff on the other hand has had his life turned upside down. Apparently he had a sister and they got split up. Poor little Puff is going to need lots of love before he starts to feel at home here.

As I dictate this to my momma, I am laying on the day bed and Puff is right next to me. His hind legs are resting on my stomach. I have done really well although I did bark and carry on when he went to use MY stairs that I use to get on the day bed, so momma had to reach down and lift him up, but other than that, I have been nice.

I need a nap now, got to go.

Tag 2

I have been tagged by my pal Willie and have to tell 7 things about me and then I must tag another 7 of my pup pals.

7 things about me...

1) I had a white blaze on my chest when I was a puppy. Momma insisted that I was black and white when the lady at the humane society was micro-chipping me. The white blaze is complete gone now and although I am listed as “Black”. I am really a mixture of gray, white and black.

2) I lay on the day bed all day and wait for my momma to come home from work.

3) I have my very own car seat and ride in it nicely. I do not get out of it once I am put inside.

4) It takes me several tried before I am successful on jumping onto the couch.

5) No matter how hot it gets her, I DO NOT LIKE WATER, so please do not think I need a dip in the pool or to play in the ocean waves.

6) I am no longer allowed into the laundry room because I was raiding the kitty litter box – yummy stuff in there you know.

7) I have two different barks – 1) I bark nicely when momma and daddy are eating something and I want a piece. 2) I bark loudly and furiously just like a mad dog when someone comes up to the door who should not be there.

I have tagged the following pup pals for their response simply because most have been neglecting their diary duties so I am hoping being tagged will get them to come out and play.
Lela, Pebbles, Luke, Daisy Maisy, Xena, Bozzie, and Goldie.

Christmas 2008

December 6th 2008 1:17 am

Important stuff first: Shebs our tears are falling – You will be missed by many.

Christmas this year:

Daddy suggested to momma that instead of buying presents for each other that they buy toys for the Toys for Tots campaign instead. Momma said okay but that she also wanted to do something for the four legged animals that have been displaced by the economy. So...I might be getting a brother!!!!

Yup, that's right, she contacted an animal rescue and they have a four year old male Maltese that has been turned in to them for re-homing. Momma had to answer some basic questions and then two volunteers from their organization came out to our house and did a home inspection.

When the ladies came to the door, I did my usual vicious barking to let them know that I was on duty so don't try anything. My parents let them in the house and I did NOT stop barking at them. I will tell you right now that for some reason, I did not like them at all. I barked and barked and carried on like a crazed mad dog. Barking when someone comes to the door is my job you know, but usually I will quit once my parents go and see who it there. Not this time, I carried on, and carried on like I was going to sink my teeth into someone’s leg. Momma kept on telling me to be quite, but I kept on barking.

The ladies wanted to see our back yard and because it was dark, momma grabbed the flashlight so that she could light the way. Too bad the flashlight had not be re-charged because no sooner did they get to the side of the yard where my bunny sisters live did the flashlight go dead. Yup, here was momma with two ladies that I didn't like, in the dark, with my bunny sisters. There was nothing I could do about it because daddy made me stay in the house. The ladies had to call it a night and said if momma and daddy passed the inspection, the next step would be to set up a play date for me and the Maltese.

Well I guess even though I was a naughty dog (or so my momma says), the Maltese is coming over TODAY, THIS MORNING, to meet me and my family.

Momma says that this is meant to be because the Maltese's name is "PUFF". Go figure. If we adopt him can you imagine being called for dinner with "Coco-Puff” it will sound like a cereal commercial around here - BOL. Daddy isn’t too sure about this as he thinks that maybe there is something wrong with the dog (barker, mean, pees all over the place, etc…), and that is why it was turned in to the rescue group, and thus far the only thing that they have actually said about him is that his owners were going through a divorce so the dog got displaced. It’s so easy to turn in a dog to rescue groups, it’s not like anyone ever actually checks out the prior owners to see if what they are saying is actually true.

Momma on the other hand is willing to take the chance but does have some misgivings that she may be disrupting the nice family that we already have. Anyways, he is coming over today and momma has told me to be good. We shall see, I’ll keep you posted. Got to go and do some research on the Maltese breed. If anyone has some good feedback regarding the Maltese Breed, please pup mail us to help us make a good decission.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

Whoo, after all the excitement from having grandpa and Heidi the Pom over yesterday for Thanksgiving, all I did today was catch up on my sleep. I didn't even go and see my bunnie sisters but that's okay because they have been in their hutch for two days now because it has been raining off and on and getting cold at night. They don't like to be in there too much but it makes momma feel better thinking that they are warm and protected from the elements.

Momma and daddy braved the crowds and did some shopping today. Got momma a new entainment center for her TV in the sewing room. Now daddy is tell momma she has to put it together - BOL. Not going to happen and daddy knows it.

Got to go.

Thanksgiving day, whoo, I'm glad it's almost over. Grandpa came over and brought Heidi his Pom with him. I was really happy to have her to play with until she went into the sewing room and came out with MY pig ear. There she was chomping down on MY pig ear. I tell you I just didn't know what to do. I watched her and ran over to her but I was really good and did not bark or growl at her. When momma saw that I was being good she gave me one of my Lamb treats and of course Heidi decided that she needed that too. She took my lamb treat right out of my mouth and ate it. Momma says it is the day of giving thanks so I am giving thanks that she went back home - BOL.

For most, today will be a joyous occasion. It will be time to sit down with friends and family and share food, good cheer and laughter. However, for some it will be a day of sadness and despair because loved ones are no longer with them, the economic strains and stresses, job worries, illness and other pressing problems. I ask you all too please reach out to these people who are hurting in any capacity that you can. The local food banks are in need of food; warm clothes are needed for the cold winter months; adopt a military person for the holiday; volunteer at the local animal shelter; buy a toy to a child that would go without. There are many ways to help someone who is in need. Please do what you can to help someone have a brighter tomorrow.

Dobie Sister

I ALMOST got a Dobie sister yesterday. Oh boy I could have had my very own Tiberius/Dylan/Roman. Yup, momma was at it again. She stopped at the local Petco store to get some stuff and every Saturday morning Friends of the Valley, which is an animal rescue group here has dogs and cats that are up for adoption. One of the volunteers was walking a beautiful red Dobie female who had had a litter of puppies. Momma went over and petted Mindy the momma Dobie and immediately wondered if she would get along with me, the kitties and of course my bunny sisters. Momma was all set to say "I'll take her" when the image of my daddy with a very nasty look on his face flashed before her eyes. How could she sneak in Mindy and explain this? Momma walked away from Mindy and then came back before she decided that she could not risk the wrath of daddy. Momma is going to bring up the subject during breakfast this morning because daddy did say he was thinking about getting himself a dog because I'm obviously momma's dog. Maybe momma can convince him that he should at least go look at Mindy and there is no better time then after he has been fed.

New tax coming to California

November 22nd 2008 6:13 am

Yes, it's true; our wonderful political leaders in California are trying to tax us even more. California’s are already taxed to the max, but our government is trying to tax services like taking you pet to the vet. The pounds are over flowing with animals due to the economy and many perfectly good animals are being put to death because there are not enough homes for all. Let me give you an example of what things cost here in California for vet services:

Bunny sister bills
Office visit 59.00
Teeth trim 75.00
"Other" 15.00
Total 194.00

The following week momma took other bunny sister in and again walked out $200 dollars lighter.

My well health bill:
Too much to list everything but bill came to $1,260.64 - Yikes!!!! Thank goodness for good ole plastic money.

My well health bill for the year before was $1,073.49 - wow the vet raised his price by almost 200 dollars in one year.

Simba Blue my kitty brother's vet bill to have his teeth cleaned was $1,024
His bill when his wee-wee was blocked was $626.81

Note: We all go to different vets so it's not like the above charges are office related.

Now if the powers to be in California have their way, we will be taxed on all of the above services in the future - OUCH.

Where I live the Animal Control facility is HIGH kill so even if you are a real cutie, your chances of getting out alive are not good. Adding a tax to vet services are going to add additional strains for struggling owners and it will be the animals that will have to pay the ultimate price for this.

OMG - I was minding my own business when I dropped down part of my Lamb treat on the carpet and then ran into the other room. When I came back, Simba my kitty brother was starting to sink his teeth into MY treat. I ran over to him and tried to take it away. He reached out to me with is right front paw and attempted to swat me. I backed up and barked. He swatted at me using his left front paw. I danced backward and continued to bark. He turned away and left my treat, which I quickly gobbled up so he couldn't have any.

Now do you see why I am obsessed with my cookies? I leave one alone for a moment and it almost disappeared.

Early this morning I was sleeping in my crate when the whole house started rumbling and shaking. I got scared and started barking. Bay-Ling, my kitty sister ran and woke up daddy. He came into the sewing room and let me out of my crate and you know what my momma was doing?

Snore, snore, snore......

I ran up my stairs and jumped up on the day bed and tried to wake up my momma....grumble, grumble, snore.

I next jumped up on momma and started planting kisses on her face...snort, snort... Coco go away, grumble, grumble. There was nothing I could do but flop on my back and start kicking momma for her to rub my stomach, which she did. I love belly rubs.

What a day I had, momma and daddy bought a bale of hay for the bunnies but one bale is HUGE. They had to break it up and store some of the hay in the smaller bunny hutch that is never used and put some in a clean trash can with a lid. Even doing that, there was much more hay than two little bunnies could eat, so they were spreading it around in their yard and forgot to close the gate. Of course I couldn't let this pass unnoticed so I went in to say hello to Arleneton and Grayson. Grayson took off and ran out of the yard but good ole Arleneton stayed and played with me for a while. She jumped over me a couple of times and charged me but it was all in fun. I guess Grayson got lonely because she came back in and started playing with me also. We had a real nice game of tag going until momma noticed. Yup, I got banned from the bunny’s yard again. You know if it wasn't for me, those two bunnies would need a membership to Family Fitness because they would never exercise. Maybe I can make some spending money so I can buy some more of those delicious Lamb Fillets - YES!

California fires

November 14th 2008 10:13 pm

It is fire season here in California. People will loose their homes and some their lives simply because someone is STUPID and sets fires. With the dry brush and strong Santa Ana winds fires can roar through a community in a flash. What you don't hear much about on the news is that the fires also affect the animals in the area. In the Ranch Bernardo fires one year ago, a friend of ours was trying to get through the fire lines so she could rescue her dog. She was stopped by the police but by shear luck, had her fire department ID on her (she is a dispatcher) and they allowed her to proceed through thinking she was there to help fight the fires. The smoke was thick and she was having trouble seeing and breathing. As she proceeded up the street the thing that got to her the most was all of the dead animals lying about. There were dogs, cats, rabbits, raccoons, deer and even a horse. This fire had started up above in the hills from where her condo was located. The animals were trying to flee but not all had escaped. The damage didn't stop in the streets. Not everyone could get pass the police lines and many of the homes that burned to the ground had someone's faithful pet waiting for the owners to come home. Some perished in the homes and others were turned in to the humane society for re-homing because the owners lost everything and could no longer take care of their pets.

Our friend was successful in getting her dog out to safety, and yes her condo was spared from destruction that day (the fire was stopped two buildings away), but many others were not as lucky.

We are very passionate on having stricter laws and punishments for those who set fires. Until such time, arsonists will continue to light the night skies with flames causing heartache, pain and misery in their wake.

I wake up when my momma gets up, go drink some water and then go outside to do my morning business. When I come back in momma is just getting out of the shower and getting ready for work. I go see what the kitties had for breakfast and do the spider patrol to see if there are any that I can munch on. When momma leaves for work, I get up on the day bed and go back to sleep. I sleep until daddy comes in for lunch. When he is eatting I go and see if he will share with me, momma always shares, but daddy doesn't always. If daddy does not share, I stand there and bark at him, just to remind him that I'm there. Sometimes my barking works, and sometimes it doesn't. After lunch I get back up on the day bed and go back to sleep until momma comes home. When momma comes in the door, I do the happy dance and make grunting noises to let her know that I am happy to see her. That's how I spend my days.

We've been tagged

We were tagged by our pal Roman…According to Roman we have to list 7 things about ourselves and tag 7 more pals. Logan and I are going to post our entrees together. Our tagged team is Fluffy Lee, Trixie Mae, Sierra, Tinker Bell Forever, Snoopy, Willie and Teddy

Logan Ben
1) I was a big cry baby and would cry and cry about everything until I learned that it would not hurt me.
2) I loved to roll around in horse droppings, the fresher the better.
3) I never ate dog food instead mom cooked me chicken, carrots and potatoes and then had to hand feed me for 10 years – what a life.
4) I failed herding try outs when I refused to herd the stupid geese.
5) I hated to have my nails clipped but would let mom trim them with the electric file even though they sometimes pulled out the hair on my feet.
6) When my adopted doggie mom died right after I came to live with mom and dad, I went outside and howled twice: dad said it was the most pitiful sound he had ever heard. I never did that again as long as I lived. Come to think of it, I rarely barked either.
7) I was the product of a puppy mill and had lots of trust and socialization issues because of it.

Coco Rose
1) I am a cookie addict. I love my cookies even though I don’t always eat them right away. Sometimes I carry them around in my mouth for days before I will actually eat them. Hey, it’s the aging process that makes them taste so yummy.
2) I have jingle bells on the sliding glass door that I am supposed to ring when I need to go outside to go pee-pee but I don’t use them. Instead I stand at the back door and do the pee-pee dance or bark to let my humans know that I need out.
3) I love tummy rubs and will lie contentedly as long as someone is rubbing my tummy.
4) I have a job. I am momma’s alarm clock. In the morning, daddy will let me out of my crate and I immediately get up on the bed and start giving my momma kisses to wake her up. When that is done, I then flop on my back and demand belly rubs.
5) I was the runt of the litter.
6) I hate my vet and will no longer walk into his office, so momma has to carry me in.
7) I’m always running in the house as fast as my little legs will carry me. Run, Run, Run like I have to get there quickly. I run to the back door when I have to go potty; I run to my water dish to get a drink or water; I run to my people when they get home. Run, Run, Run.

Note: The above list is slightly different than the one I sent to my seven tagged pup pals because the original list did not post so I had to try to remember what I said the first time when I duplicated it to repost.

Momma and daddy went to go shopping yesterday and momma asked daddy if we were going to take me with them. Yes, Yes, Yes, I danced around and went running to the front door. Daddy said no because if I was with them they could no go out to eat and it is now against the law to leave a animal in a closed car in California, so as they were leaving, my little doggie friend from next door came running up to them so they opened the back gate and let her into my back yard and then let me out to play with her. I like my neighbor but sometimes she gets nasty and growls and bites at me.

Momma and daddy were gone for hours and during that time, my neighbors came and got Kaia and took her home and I was left outside all by myself (the bunnies sisters have their own yard that is fenced off from the main yard so I couldn't even play with them). I have never been left in the back yard for hours and I was scared. When they finally got home, they came into the back yard and daddy bent down to pick me up, but I ran right past him to my momma. Momma picked me up and I started making the grunting noises that I know she likes and was rubbing my head against her face. Daddy looked at us and said "Yup, she is definitely your dog", and then went into the house. Sorry daddy, but I love my momma.

Picture taking

November 1st 2008 6:07 pm

My momma told one of our pup pals this true event and since she brought up the subject I don't see any reason why I can't tell it also, so here goes....

Momma normally takes me to the groomer to have me bathed and combed out, but for some reason, she decided to give me a bath in the bathtub with her. Now y'all know people take off all of their clothes while bathing. So into the tube momma goes and she takes little ole me with her. I fought and carried on but it did no good. She shampooed me and then rinsed me off. When she was done, she got out of the bathtub and put me on the bathroom counter. Needless to say, I was not a happy little doggie. Momma says the look on my face was worth a picture so she went and grabbed the camera that had film in it and started snapping away. She was very careful not to stand directly in front of me so her naked image would not appear in the long mirror that was behind me. However, on each side of the long mirror are mirrored medicine cabinets and because she was busy snapping away she forgot to check for her naked image in these. When she was finished with her picture taking, she dried me off and got dressed then took the film to the one hour photo place. A day or two later, momma went and picked up the film and was looking at all of the pictures of me. Mom really liked one of them of me looking angry and wet until daddy noticed that naked momma was showing in the medicine cabinet mirror. Yup, there she was in her full naked glory. The only thing not showing was her face because the camera was hiding it - BOL!!! BOL!!! Momma now has a nice digital camera - BOL!!!! BOL!!!!

I have been evicted from the daybed at night and am once again sleeping in my crate. Why??? I want to sleep with my momma, but because I barked a time or two during the night, daddy said I have to go back to the crate. I was only protecting my momma from my kitty brother Simba. He and I have been in a battle for the honor of sleeping with my momma. It looks like he has won this battle, for now. I make sure he can’t get up there with her during her days off from work, but I still want to figure out a way to regain daybed privileges during the night. I think I am being unfairly punished for being a good watchdog. My momma is hearing impaired so it is my duty to announce noise and when strangers come up to the house. What can be stranger than Simba – BOL?

Today, I got a wonderful package from Sierra and Mojo. Their momma framed a picture of me and sent it to my momma. The picture says "Good Doggie" - yup, got my pup pals fooled - BOL. They also sent me a pretty squeaky bone that I've been playing with all night. I have so many toys that daddy has been complaining about stepping on them throughout the house. Maybe it's time to pick up a few - naw. I love all my toys, I play with my squeaky Cow, Car, Octopus, Squid, Lobster, Mailman, Sun, Snowman, Gobblin, Balls, and all of the kitty toys too. Now I have a squeaky bone to add to my collection. Got to go gaurd it so Simba doesn't take it.

Thank you Sierra and Mojo (mom too) for the wonderful gifts.

Hugs and kisses

I won third place!!!

I won third place in the Halloween costume contest at the groomers this afternoon. First place went to a cute Westie who was dressed up as Olympic Swimmer Michael Phelps. He was so cute in his swimming trunks, eye protectors and all of those metals. Second place went to a tiny Yorkie that was dressed up as a little bitty honey bee. Third place went to ME – yup, my race car costume won third place. I got a really nice trophy, a goodie package that had a Fresh ‘N Floss Booda rope, a tennis ball, a super big raw hide chew, a picture frame, a bag of milk bones and doggie cookies and a big shinny stainless steel bowl. Wow, I hit the jackpot. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, I also got a free self wash pass but you know me and baths, so don’t expect me to get excited about this prize. I also forgot to mention that one of the contestants was a miniature pony. He was dressed up in a costume and was so cute. I had a lot of fun and met some nice dogs that live in my neighborhood. The only thing wrong was it was HOT and I had that stuffed driver on my back. I was panting badly so as soon as the winners of the costume contest were announced, momma took off my costume and we came home so I could get out of the sun.

I need a nap now after all of the excitement of this afternoon.

Halloween Contest

Today is the day that I have to wear the race car costume for the contest at my groomers. Keep your paws crossed that I do NOT win. Yup, that's right, I do not want to win. The winner get a free grooming. I thought they would give out good prizes like a nice squeaky toy or a yummy pig ear. What kind of prize is a free grooming? To make matters worse, momma is taking me to the groomers before the contest so I can be bathed, combed and whatnot, all because she wants me to have bows in my hair. I ask you do you think this is fair? I have to go to the dreaded groomers twice today just so momma can have a chance to win a free grooming for me. If momma wants this so badly, why can't SHE get her hair washed, combed and have ribbons put in it? I know from seeing with my own eyes they have a holding pen large enough for momma to fit into - BOL.

Hugs and kisses,

My daddy works out of the house in the machine shop in our garage. He comes into the house to get coffee and to take a nap. The other day he stayed in the garage all day long and forgot about me. Well what was I supposed to do when I had to go to the potty? I ran to the laundry room door and barked because daddy was on the other side in the garage, but he didn't hear me. Next I ran to the sliding door that has my jingle bells on it and I barked and shook the bells but no one came. I had to go so I picked the bestest place I could think of. Daddys computer room. Yup, I left a nice pile sitting right in the center of his computer room and then I scooted my behind on the carpet to make sure it was nice and clean, and I must admit the carpet was so much nicer than grass - BOL.

Daddy was not happy with me when he came into the house and found my present. I tried my hardest to blame Simba Blue my kitty brother, but he didn't believe me. He asked me why I didn't do my business in mommys sewing room, but duh, come on, I'm not going to do that in my mommys room.

So daddy had to get out the carpet cleaner and shampoo the carpet. Needless to say, I went back into the sewing room and took a nap - daddy didn't get one - BOL

Ok, I was laying on the daybed minding my own business, not brothering anyone when momma decided it was picture time and had to put that stupid race car costume on me. I sat down, then layed down and did not want to have my picture taken. She took several and of course had to post one.

Do you think I can win the costume contest at the groomers next week?

Halloween Costume 2

Momma is going nuts with this Halloween costume contest that I am entered in at the groomers next Sunday. She bought me a halloween dress but decided it did not classify as a "costume", you can see me wearing the dress 0n my pictures. So what does she go out and do? She bought me a doggy halloween costume that was on sale for under 4 dollars at Petco. It's a race car with a stuffed driver attached. Momma put it on me last night and I didn't like having the driver sitting on my back, so mamma is going to cut the driver off so instead of being a race car and driver, I'll just be a race car so I will be more confortable. I hope momma gets pictures of me and posts them later today.

My friend Trixie Mae is entered in the Coolest Pet picture contest and when momma went to go vote for her, she decided to enter one of my pictures in the contest. I am not in any of the catagories that Trixie Mae is entered into because she entered the contest first and it wouldn't be right for me to try to take votes away from her, so momma entered me into the tongue/slobber catagory that way we do not compete against one another. Would you PLEASE, Please go and vote for Trixie Mae and me?

Momma bought me a halloween "costume". It's a black dress with those white, yellow. orange candies all over it, but instead of the candies being pyrimd shaped, they are hearts. I'm not sure how this is a halloween costume. Hum, we will have to work on this. She should have bought the dress that had a priate on the back, then I could have been a priate. Mom went back to get it today, but someone beet her to it. Not sure how this is going to turn out so stay tuned. Maybe momma will get pictures for this weekend.

Momma had a terrible Sunday. She logged onto her computer and discovered that Yahoo had decided she needed to become a trial for their new homepage. Momma was not happy as she loves her Yahoo Classic. She worked on her computer all day, but finally after about about 8 hours of griping and whining (yes momma you were whining) with Yahoo and being told that they could not give her back the Classic page she felt she was defeated and signed up for a different mail service. When she notified Yahoo of this, all of a sudden the Classic stuff reappeared. Go figure.

I got a wonderful package from my Auntie Lorrie and Cousin Trixie Mae. They sent me a beautiful Corvette, a cow with a flower and a big bag of treats. When momma put the package on the floor for me to look at all of the wonderful things, I immediately took the Corvette out - gosh what gal wouldn't want their very own Corvette? I ran around all over the house carrying my pretty car. Then I came back to the package and took out the cow. It made a squeaky noise and I was so happy to be playing with it. When momma and daddy went to the bedroom to watch TV, I took my car with me because I didn't want Simba, my kitty brother to take it, and he would too if I didn't watch him.

While momma and daddy watched TV, I got to snack on one of my new treats - yummy and I ate the whole thing. I'm so lucky to have Auntie Lorrie and Cousin Trixie Mae in my life. I love them both!

Coco - Momma do you think my pup pals Sully and Socks have to use doggie stairs to get up on the bed?

Momma - No, they can probably do it in one big leap, if they are allowed.

Coco - See I told you, posting the video of me having to use doggie stairs is going to make me the laughing stock - would you please remove it?

Momma - Nope, now stop asking :-)

I begged and pleaded for momma not to post the video showing me using my stairs to get up on the daybed. How am I ever going to live this down? I wish I had long beautiful legs like my pup pals Ty and Dylan have. I bet each of them can just jump right up on the daybed without having to use stairs. Me, no such luck without the stairs I would not be able to get up there, but gosh, did momma have to show the whole world? I bet all of my long legged pals are laughing their heads off at me right now.

Yup, it's friday night in California. We have been having nice weather so maybe momma will let me play with my bunny sisters tomorrow - I hope so. Arleenton and Grayson are getting fat and lazy sitting around. Now that it's not too hot it's exercise time - yippee. I'm going to chase them all over the yard. Get ready bunnies, I'm going to come after you, but I won't hurt you. Wish my friend Ty could come play with me and my bunny sisters, he would have lots and lots of fun.

I finally got up to go outside and do my morning business and go check up on my bunny sisters. When I came back in, I drank some water and then went to see daddy. After a few belly rubs, I got back up on the bed and watched out the window for a few minutes before I took another nap. Yup, that's about all I did today.

Finally, I get to sleep on the bed with her and that means that Simba, my kitty brother does not - YES!!!! I'm doing the happy dance.

Got to go get comfortable on the bed and grin at Simba on the floor.

How do I put this - let's see, I do not do the come command, nope, not me. Momma and I went to obedience class when I was a puppy and I passed and did well on everything except for the COME command. Didn't care who was calling me, I just choose not to obey. Tonight, when daddy heard momma's car pull up to the house, he opened the front door and out I ran to go greet her. What daddy didn't know was that two of the neighbor hood dogs were in the street and when I saw them, I forgot all about momma and ran after the dogs. Don't know if I had bad breath or something but both dogs ran away from me and wouldn't play. They went running down the street and I was right after them, running as fast as my little legs would go. Momma stood there calling me but I ignored her. Daddy called me also and I ignored him too. Momma told daddy he had to go get me before I got hurt. You should have seen daddy running down the street after me, it was a real Kodak moment. As soon as daddy got in front of me, I changed my desire to play with the other dogs and high tailed it back to momma. She picked me up and kissed me and told me what a good doggie I was for coming back. Daddy was red in the face and not too happy with me, but that's okay, cuz he won't stay mad at me too long.

Yes, momma did it again, she hauled me off to the Pepto Bismo Palace for another grooming. Ugly Pepto Bismo walls, soap, water and combs are not my idea of a fun time. At least this time I did not leave smelling like a strawberry. I was the only customer there so I got in and out super fast. Momma told them they have not been trimming my dew claws but it turns out it wasn't their fault, apparently I have not been there for two months. Gosh, sure seems like last week I was there, but no, my last visit was right after the fourth of July. I have to admit it's kind of nice not having hair pooking me in the eyes, but don't tell my momma I said that - BOL.

Nap time, chat later.

A day at the vet

August 30th 2008 7:49 pm

It started off as a nice surprise "Want to go Bye-Bye" my momma asked, and of course I went happily running to the front door as fast as my little legs would carry me. I love to go Bye-Bye. Momma picked me up and carried me out to the car, and placed me in my car seat. I was soooo happy. I curled up and sat there like a good little doggie, not making a sound. Momma got in and we drove for a long time. When the car finally stopped, and I saw where we were, I was no longer happy - we were at the dreaded vets. I hate that place. No, don't want to be here at all. Momma had to carry me in cuz I was not going to go in there, I'm not stupid you know.

It was early morning, 8:00AM on a Saturday and they checked me in and told momma they would call when I was ready to go home. Momma told me that I was here for a wellness visit to make sure I am healthy and have no problems. I tried to tell her I was fine, but she wouldn't listen to me.

I cried, and cried "don't leave me here", but it did no good. Momma handed me over and walked out.

Let me tell you, they poked me, got really up close and personnel, trimmed my nails, cleaned the hair out of my ears and did some other stuff that I just want to forget about. I was there for hours. Momma finally came and picked me up in late afternoon.

I didn't speak to her all during the car ride home. When I got home, I discovered all my cookies had been thrown away, again. Momma tried to make nice to me by showing me she had bought me a new bed. It's one of those memory foam mattress (got to admit it's real nice), but don't tell my momma I said that.

She gave me a new cookie, which I couldn't refuse and I gobbled it down fast, cuz I didn't want it to disappear like the rest of them did. I finally had to forgive my momma when she showed me she had bought me a new toy - It's a stuffed gobblin that makes a funny noise when I play with it. I love it. Maybe next time she wants to by me a toy she can do it without taking me to the vet - you think?

Whoo, what a day. Simba, my kitty brother is sick. He was very sick a couple of years ago with FUS (Feline Urinary Syndrome) and almost died. Lately, he has been going to the bathroom a lot so momma and daddy were concerned that the FUS was back again. Not so says the vet, but she was uncertain as to what is wrong with him. He has lost a couple of pounds and is not his usual self. The vet ran some test on him and will get back with the results. Hope he gets better soon, I miss him when he doesn't pick on me.

Not much going on here. Momma and daddy are supposed to be cleaning the house, but neither one of them have even started and it's late in the afternoon. In fact, momma and I just woke up from a nice nap. Talk about LAZY. I only nap to make my momma happy - BOL.

Momma did go shopping this morning and bought me some more cookies so that makes me real happy. Simba played tag with me for a little while then decided that he wanted to go "visit" bluebell his pillow. He is such a strange cat, but I really do love him although I don't like it when he sleeps with my momma.

Well got to go, momma is going to make a fish chowder for dinner and I have to supervise and be the official taster - it's a difficult job but someone has to do it.

Now Coco, settle down, no one stole your cookies.

But momma, they are gone.

Yes Coco, I threw them all away because you had cookies in every room of the house.

You did what? Threw them away - why?

I just told you, you had cookies all over the house and I was tired of walking on them. I even found some cookies under my pillow. Enough. You don't need that many cookies. If you'r good, I give you a new cookie before you go to bed tonight.

Okay momma, I'll be good, but next time, I'm going to hide my cookies better so you can't find them.

Car rides

I love to ride in the car. When I know momma is going someplace, I run to the front door and sit by it and scratch the door with my paws, hoping it will open.

Whenever momma can, she takes me with her and I sit real nice in my car seat. Sometimes I lay down and just enjoy the ride, other times, I sit up tall and look at everything that we pass by during our trip. Because I am a Shih Tzu, I have problems dealing with heat, so momma always turns on the air conditioner full blast when I'm riding with her. Momma likes to make sure I'm as comfortable as possible, even if it means she freezes during the trip.

Nap time, so until next time, hope you get lots of yummy cookies.

Hello all. What a day I had. I got to go play with my bunny sisters. Haven't been allowed to do this in a while because of the heat. Grayson still avoids me and doesn't like to play tag, but good ole Arleenton lets me chase her and when she gets tired of playing, she hops up onto her bunny hutch so I can't get her. And you should see the pumpkins that are growning in their yard. There are two of them that momma and daddy let grow, but cut off all of the others because the plant was taking up all of the bunny yard. And did you know that pumpkins have little thorns all over the plant? Grayson discovered this the hard way so daddy told momma she had to trim the plant back cuz it took off some of Graysons fur when she got stuck in it. Momma said she would take some more pictures of the pumpkins tomorrow and post them, so stay tuned.

I even got to play tag with Simba, my kitty brother. Sometimes he plays with me and I really enjoy it. We went racing through the house and were having a great time until one of us knocked down the potted plant in the living room. What a mess it made. Leaves and dirt all over the carpet. Need I tell you momma was not happy?

Got to go, daddy is watching a football game and I can hear he is snacking on something, need to go see what it is, cuz I probably want some.

Until next time.

What’s the matter Coco, you look sad?

I am sad momma; I heard that some of our pup pals didn’t like the collars we sent them.

Yes, Coco, that’s true. Gift giving can be a tricky thing. Sometimes good intentions just don’t go the way they were intended to go.

What do you mean momma?

Well, we might offend someone if we sent them a can of Spam.

You mean someone might not want a yummy can of Spam – really momma? How can someone not want one? I would love to have a case of Spam. Give me Spam, give me Spam, I love the Spam!

No Coco, this is not about what you like, but it’s a good lesson in regards to giving gifts. Here is an example for you: If you send a can of Spam to someone who does not eat meat, they might not enjoy the gift. In fact, they might take offense to even getting it. Also, because Spam is made of pork, if you send it to someone who does not eat pork because of their religion, again, it might not be appreciated. Maybe the pup pal you send the Spam to does not like Spam as much as you do; you know everyone has their own likes and dislikes.

You see Coco; there is a lot to consider when a gift is given. Don’t be sad, your pup pals are not mad at you and they remain pup pals. Would it make you feel better if we apologized?

Yes momma.

Okay – To all of Coco’s pup pals who did not appreciate the collars, we are very sorry that we might have offended you. After reading some of the comments regarding the collars, I must admit it was just a blatant advertisement for the product and was totally inappropriate. Please accept our apology and we will try to think things through with the next gift given.

Are you happy now Coco?

Yes momma, now will you rub my belly?

Of course.

Simba got a haircut, Simba got a haircut. Gone is his Lion Mane. I can't believe momma did that and didn't even let me watch. I would have told her to shave him bald. Yup, I would have. She did it in the middle of the night and I was in my crate. I could hear him carrying on like a crazy cat he can be, but I was unable to see the action. In the morning, I made sure I went up to him and laughed, of course I stood well away from his claws when I did it.

In all fairness, I have to admit that he actually looks good. Momma also trimmed up Bay-Lings hair also.

Got to watch my momma when she has cutting instruments cuz she goes crazy with them.

No Coco, it is not watermelon. It's pumpkin. There, are you happy now?

Yes momma. How could you mistake Pumpkin for Watermelon (snicker, snicker)?

Because it looked like a watermelon. It had fruit on it that was green. How was i supposed to know that Pumpkins started out green and then turn orange?

Momma, does this mean that you better keep you job in the city and not retire as a farmer?

Arf, Arf, Arf!!! - Okay Coco, do you have to go Pee-Pee? I'll unzip your crate door, and you can go outside for a while.

(Ten minutes later) Coco, get back in your creat and go ni-nite.

Coco gets in her creat, and the door is zipped closed, momma lays back on the daybed.

Arf, Arf. - Ah, Coco, I'm sleepy and want to go to sleep, what do you want now?

Arf, Arf, Arf. - Coco, be quite and go to sleep!

Arf, Arf, Arf, Arf, Arf...

Momma grumbling, getting up and letting Coco out of the creat, again.

Momma laying down on the daybed and Coco snuggling next to her, flopping over on her back and waiting for a belly rub.

Momma ignoring Coco, but now she gets kicked by doggy paws as Ms. Coco starts getting demanding and insistant that she needs a tummy rub.

Momma rubbing Ms. Coco's tummy.

Earthquake! Earthquake!!!

Today, I experienced my very first 5.4 earthquake. I was with my kitty sister Bay-ling. We were both taking a pre-noon nap, when all of a sudden, there was a rumbling noise and the house started to sway and shake. We both got SCARED. Simba, out kitty big brother, just yawned and laughed at us. All I can say was I wanted my momma, but she was at work. Daddy was home and he came to make sure there was no damage and that we were all okay. Happily, it was over quickly and there was no damage.

What a day,

Momma went to go shopping and didn't take me with her. I ran to the front door after momma left and cried and carried on so much that daddy called momma on her cell phone and told momma that I was having a fit. I was upset because my momma works all week long and she is supposed to spend time with me on the weekends. When momma came home, I was so happy to see her that I did my little happy dance for her. She brought me these really, really yummy honey raw hide twists that I am totally enjoying, so I forgive her for leaving me.

I heard momma telling daddy that she almost adopted a dog playmate for me. His name is Benji and he is a three year old Shih Tzu mix. Momma said that he is really handsome but there was a sign on his cage telling everyone that he has sever seperation problems and barks a lot. She wasn't too very concerned with that as much as she was about daddy getting mad with her bring home another pet.

I don't really know if I want a full time playmate. I like the way things are right now so I'm glad that momma was able to control herself. BOL

Got to go, and chew on my new raw hide treat for a while. Until next time,

It's not starting off to be a good day. Momma went out to my bunny sisters and found that Grayson wasn't looking too good. She trampled through the watermelon plant and got Grayson to hop into her hutch. Then momma quickly closed the door so Grayson couldn't get out and lifted up the top of the hutch. When momma picked up Grayson she noticed most of the fur under her fat little chin was GONE!!!! When daddy saw my bunny sister he told momma that she had probably got hurt by the watermelon plant because it has spines all over it, and Grayson liked to play around in the plant. Momma brought Grayson into the house and put her in the bathroom sink and gave her a bath, which she didn't like, then put some ointment on her bare spots. Poor bunnies have been through a lot lately. They have both been to the vet last month and now this. Luckily momma has some bunny antibiotics left so she is going to give them to Grayson.

Meanwhile, daddy went out and chopped down most of the watermelon plant. He has been insisting that momma needed to do this but momma wanted to let the plant grow. Well, it grew, and grew and grew. There are two large watermelon fruits forming, but all others have been chopped off. Daddy says that by next week the plant will probably be overgrown again, so momma better keep an eye on it and keep it trimmed.

I tell you, it's always something. I was expecting a nice peaceful day with my momma and instead, it was drama, drama, drama. Now momma says she is going to go outside and sit in the three ring pool to relax. It's hot here and momma thought I might like a pool to cool down in during the summer, but no, I DON"T LIKE IT!!! Don't want to go splash around in water, but momma on the other hand loves the pool. She goes outside and sits in the pool, reads, drinks iced tea and get sunburned. Afterwards, she will come in the house and take a nap with me so that good.

Until later, hope your bunnies are safe and happy.

Well the great mystery is over, the plant growing in my bunny sisters yard is WATERMELON - I can't wait to eat some and of course share lots and lots with Arleenton and Grayson. They are both going to be so happy. Daddy says momma and he have to go out there tomorrow and cut it back because it has invaded all of the bunnys space. You should see it, it's huge. They can't even go from one side of their yard to the other because the plant has grown so much that the whole yard is blocked. There is already fruit growing. Momma didn't want to chop the plant but when she saw it tonight she had to admit something needs to be done. I will be glad to have it cut back because I haven't been able to see the bunnys because they have been staying under their hutch.

I love my bunny sisters!!!

My daddy tried to get me in trouble today. When momma got home from work, I did my "I'm SOOOO happy to see you mommy" dance and wouldn't stop until momma picked me up and kissed my tummy. Daddy just stood there and shook his head and told momma that she wasn't going to be happy when she saw what I had done in her sewing room. By now, I was making little grunting noises and kissing and snuggling my momma. Momma calmly carried me to the sewing room, and being no fool, I continued to make all kinds of loving noises and kissed and kissed my momma, I also threw in a couple of face touches with my front paw. And then she saw my "work", I had read the newpaper while she was away. Scattered all over the floor was a million pieces of what was left of the stupid newspaper (nothing but bad news anyways). Momma looked at me and said "You certainly have been busy today", put me on the daybed, and got down on her hands and knees (not an easy thing for her to do because of her bad knee) and picked up all of the pieces. She wasn't mad at all - TOO BAD DADDY - BOL.

Nothing new to report. Had a little tiff with Simba this morning. It really wasn't my fault. I was laying on the floor minding my own business and chewing on a smoked pig ear. Simba stretched out and wacked me with his paw, twice. I could have sworn he was laughing the whole time. He does stuff like that simply because he's Simba.

Until next time,

Coco Rose :-)

Nothing much happened today. Momma went to work and I slept all day on the daybed in the sewing room, until daddy came in and made me go to the mailbox with him. Now I really don't mind going because I almost always get a cookie when I get back home, and the mailbox is only 1/2 block away, but I'm getting lazy. This time, daddy gave me a prezel filled with cheese. Hump, never had one of these before, and can't say I like it. Would rather have a smoked pig ear - yummy.

Didn't get to go play tag with my bunny sisters because it is still too hot outside and that silly ole plant is taking up a lot of space in their yard. It has given them lots of places to hide. Momma says that the plant has provided them with lots of shade this summer, which is a good thing, cuz we live in the desert.

Wanted to thank Dogster again, for featuring my Diary yesterday, I was so surprised and thrilled.

Until next time, hope you get lots of cookies.

Pepto Bismo Palace

My long, but matted hair is gone and I'm NAKED!!! How could momma do this to me? I was minding my own business, guarding my cookie stash so Simba, my kitty brother wouldn't come take any, when I heard - "Coco, want to go bye-bye?" Of course, I dropped my cookies and went running to the door as fast as my short little leggs would take me. Momma bent down and picked me up and carried me out to the car. I was put into my car seat and off we went. No sooner did I settle down, when I noticed I was at the Pepto Bismo Palace, as my BFF Pookie and Fluffy Lee named the place. It is a new dog grooming salon that has opened right down the street from my home. The owner painted every wall in the place pepto bismo pink, and let me tell you it is UGLY!!!! I'm not sure why momma wants my hair to grow long, but I refuse to let momma or daddy comb my hair. If I see the comb coming towards me, I growl and show my teeth, and have even nipped at them. The groomers say I'm a perfect angel and that they love to groom me. Momma tried taking me to the groomers every other week, but the expense was getting too high and my hair matted anyways. Now the only long hair I have are my ears and tail.

For those of you who know me, I have two outdoor bunny sisters who I adore. I really like to chase Arleenton cuz she is always up for a little game of tag. Lately though, it's been really hot here so tag is not something we can do, because bunnies are prone to heat stroke. Also, there is a mystery plant growing in the bunnies yard. Daddy had fenced off an area that is about 10 feet by 15 feet that is for Arleenton and Grayson to play in. One day, momma went out to let them come into the main yard and discovered a plant growing in the middle of the bunny yard. Because the bunnies had left the plant alone (they usually eat anything with leaves on it), momma decided not to pull it up. Now, it has taken over most of the bunny yard. The plant is either a watermelon (Yummy), or pumpkin. Either way, it is HUGE. Daily, I go out there with my momma to check on the bunnys and to check the progress of the plant. It has flowered and is producing some type of fruit. Daddy wants to go cut it back, but momma won't let him. I want momma to take my picture with the plant, so keep checking back.

Hope you all have lots and lots of cookies - I do.

Groomers

I lucked out today. Momma was planning on taking me to the groomers, but when she called, they couldn't take me because they did not have enough clients to justify opening on Sunday. Yippee!! No groomers for me today.

Momma is obsessed with having my hair grow long for once. She was taking me in every other week to have me bathed, clipped and combed. Even after all of this, sad to say, my hair is MATTED. Yup, it's tangled, knotted, and messed up. Now I'm going to have to have it all clipped off and then hopefully I won't have to see the groomers for a couple of months.

Licks and sniffs to all of you,

Coco Rose

Fourth of July

What a day! My doggie cousins Heidi a hyper Pomeranian and Molly a very plump Chihuahua mix and a whole bunch of humans came over to my house to celebrate the Fourth of July. I got to play all day long and had lot, and lots of attention. I’m so worn out, but very happy. I really love Molly as she likes food just as much as I do, but I did get a little nasty to her when she got a cookie and I didn’t. I growled at her and stole the cookie away from her and gobbled it down. Yup, I ate the whole thing – gulp, it was GONE!!! Momma said I was being naughty, and gave Molly another cookie. I would have taken that cookie too, but momma was giving me the ole evil eye so I had to let her keep that one.

Anyhow, I’m really tired and need to get my beauty sleep. Hope the cookie fairy comes and visits everyone tonight, but be aware, if you get a cookie, and I don’t, I might take it away from you. BOL

My Tail of Devotion for Coco Rose

Coco Rose,

You came into my life when I was sad and depressed because Logan Ben had crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge. You didn’t replace Logan; instead, your love showed me a new chapter could be written that would include you in my life. Your silly personality and obsessions to "cookies" has brought me lots of laughter. I can’t describe the wonderful feeling you induce when you come running to me when I get home from work. The devotion you show is breathtaking. I through I was rescuing you the day I signed your adopted papers, but in actuality, you rescued me. You are my friend, companion and funny little free spirit who I will love forever.

Momma
