Arrival Story:
I was born in Texas to the family of a friend of my Dad. The friend wanted me to live with someone who would take me swimming and duck hunting, so he gave me to my Dad and Mom. A few weeks before Thanksgiving, Dad's friend drove me from Dallas to Shreveport where I met my Dad, then Dad drove us back home to New Orleans. I was scared when I first met my new sisters, but now we're good friends (except when I annoy them too much!). The name of my neighborhood is Bouligny and I'm solid black -- that reminded my parents of voodoo in New Orleans -- so that's how I got my name (also, my Dad likes "Bouie" knives -- that was the insignia of one of his Guard commands. "Bouie" instead of "Bowie" -- get it?!)
Bio:
I got to go to Doggy Boot Camp to learn how to be a good dog and a good duck-hunting dog. I'm the best retriever in the world and love to do double-retrieves. Mom and Dad take me swimming a lot in Bayou St. John. I also really love to chase lizards!

If I could just figure out how to make water come out of the magic skinny green rubbery thing, I would be one happy dog! I could play in water all day like I do when Mom fills our outdoor water dish! She tells me I'm not helping when I play in the water dish while she's filling it, but I know she's just kidding. She is kidding me, right? Who wouldn't want to have me help fill a water dish?!

I'm in big trouble. This morning I got very excited after Dad took me swimming and I sorta "marked my territory" on Mom and Dad's bedspread. My Dad kinda put me on my back and explained to me that HE is the alpha dog around here and I'm NOT to mark ANYTHING of his! I think I understand, but I had to stay outside all by myself for a long time -- at least a whole hour and I don't like to be alone, even for a minute! Maybe I should stop and think before I do that again in the house.

I got to go stay at the kennel over the weekend (along with Wendy and Rosie) while Mom and Dad were out of town. I had SO much fun that I pretty much forgot to eat. My Dad thinks I'm sick, but I'm really just worn out from getting to play, play, play in the pup playpen. The playpen is only for dogs who get along well with other dogs and we get to stay together all the time (except for when we eat) and play, play, play. My friend who runs the kennel told my Mom that I'd probably sleep for weeks because I didn't slow down the whole time I was there!
