Arrival Story: Romeo was found in the woods . He had apparently been there for a couple of weeks. He was skin & bones and full of fleas and ticks. He had sores and cuts all over his feet and was scared to death of people. My heart went out to him and I feared if he was put in a shelter he would not be adopted and be put to sleep. My goal was to bring him home and nurse him back to heath and try and rehabilitate him with the help of my 5 dogs and than find him a good home...... Romeo has been with us now for 6weeks and is doing MUCH better now,how ever we have fallen in love with him and he is now a permanent member of our pack!
Bio: Romeo is such a sweet boy his name fits him. I named him Romeo because I said he was a Lover Not A Fighter! The sadness that was once in his eyes are now replaced with Happiness and content. He loves his 4 sisters and brother Francois, and looks forward to our morning walks with ALL of the pack together!

The Last Forum I Posted In: Romeo Needs Help What Can I Do?
Romeo started limping about 2wks. ago . I thought maybe he pulled a muscle and kept him from too much activity to give it some time to heal. It didn't seem to help, so I brought him to see the Orthopedic Vet. After xrays Dr.Thacher said Romeo needs surgery for a torn ligament. I think he called it A C L.
This past summer I had put Romeo in a Doggie Day care a couple of times a week for a few hours a day to get him use to being away from me , to help with his seperation anxiety. I also would bring his Sister Aphrodite with him so he wouldn't feel alone. One day one of the workers at the Doggie Daycare left TWO doors open and Romeo escaped into the parking lot and than into the nearby woods. When they called me we ran over right away and searched all night with no luck. My Heart was broken and I was so worried he would get hit by a car, since the Day care was near a 6 lane highway, or picked up by some one and used to fight. I had promised Romeo no one would ever hurt him again!, and now it was out of my control and I was devastated. Every morning at sunrise 10 of my wonderful friends and I would search the area around the day care until sunset with no luck. We had put over 400 flyers up with Romeo's picture and a $500 reward. We had also called every Animal Rescue in the area and on the fourth day of Romeo missing we physically went to look at every shelter for him with no luck. My heart was aching so and I felt so helpless and didn't know if I would ever see my boy again, when I got a call that a girl had found Romeo in her laundry room at her apartment complex. We ran over right away and there he was . He looked like a deer caught in the headlights of a car until he realized it was his Mommy 's arms around his neck. We took him right away to the Animal Hospital where they checked him out and found no trauma to his body other than having some abrasions and over two hundred ticks on him. He was so very happy to be home and his brother and sisters gave him a very welcome home greeting. The part that really brings tears to my eyes and touches my heart is Romeo was found 1 mile from our home, he was making his way home and by the grace of God and all of the prayers he had crossed that 6 lane highway without getting hit by a car! You see the day care center was over two miles away from us on the other side of this major highway. Romeo showed us how much he LOVES his home and family, and we are so blessed to have him home again! He will Never go to a Doggie Day care again!!!!
It's a NEW YEAR and 5 months since we found Romeo in the woods and brought him home with us. He has turned out to be a great dog! He has gained over 20 lbs. and is solid muscle. He has really gotten very attached to all of us, especially his new Mommy. He has a little separation problem which is getting better every day. He hasn't chewed the couch pillows the last few times I had to go out , so I'm hoping that's behind us now. When we first brought him home it was apparent he had a trust issue with humans and a fear of other dogs. I have been taking him to the dog park to socialize with dogs and humans for 5 months now and it has changed him for the best. Romeo now goes up to people to say hello and get petted and has learned how to play with other dogs. At home I can't sit down with out Romeo jumping up to lay next to me . When we all get back from the park, Romeo won't come in the house till he sees all of us out of the car. I wish I could take all the credit for his success story, however I really think being in a home with 5 other stable and socialized dogs helped his rehabilitation more than anything. THE POWER OF THE PACK is what Romeo needed and their love!
