Arrival Story: I just happened to check out the local Humane Society's web site one afternoon in May and there she was ! Her long slender nose, floppy ears and beautiful big brown eyes were hard to resist. I read her story - separation anxiety stood out as a potential problem for anyone looking to adopt - When I called about her they told me she'd been adopted once since her first owner turned her in after two years of spending long days in a crate. The latest adoption lasted three weeks - crated again and missing her "people" Daisy expressed her unhappiness by tearing the curtains and jumping out the window! Something told me that maybe time was running out for this lovely little dog...Ever the optimist, I couldn't help thinking that all she needed was company- and I had three buddies for her: Plummie, Spinner (who'd especially enjoy her company) and little Paddles - Our first meeting went well - she came to me and sat in my lap, but was still very nervous and watchful, not sure whether to trust me or not...So, I applied to adopt her that same day. When I went to pick her up the next afternoon I took Spinn along just to make sure they'd be OK together - Spinn thought she was great, giving her the official, over-the-top Lakie welcome, barking, jumping, wagging, licking...so home we went. The rest of the introductions went well. Paddles was fastinated by this tall, leggy lady who liked to lick his head - they've since become best buddies - they seem to know that they came from bad places and now everything is OK, they can be happy!

Bio: Daisy is VERY smart - and her house manners have been almost perfect from day one. She and Spinn play together every evening - when Spinn gets tired she'll even play catch with herself, tossing the toy in the air and either catching it in mid-air or running after it to toss it again! Then she'll come up and curl up next to me on the sofa for a nap. What a sweetheart! All she needed was company and lots of love and affection! She's my shadow but not nearly as needy as she was when she first arrived. She 'd prefer that I not go to work but doesn't fuss or whine. After I leave I can see her eyes and nose looking out the kitchen window - I wave and she leaves to find a comfy bed with the other pups... Happy at last!!!
