Arrival Story:
I received a phone call from a lady wishing to get a blind basset into rescue. I explained that we were low on funds in the rescue and had closed intake. I did however tell the lady that i could take the dog on a personal basis and she arrived later in the week.

Bio:
The lady trying to get Sally Sue into rescue claimed she didnt want to deal with the hair after all this time of having her. Sally is supposed to be about 10 years old but will verify with the vet on that issue later this week. UPDATE: The vet says that she is around 5, not 10. SECOND UPDATE, after receiving the medical records for Sally Sue, we did find she is at least 9 years old. She had received good vet care which was a comfort to me and my husband. We found out she had silicone implants from her previous surgeries but they were causing her alot of pain so we are happy we had them removed. Sally is blind due to glaucoma and is supposed to have artificial eyes. UPDATE: Sally had surgery to remove her diseased eyes and is now doing very well. She arrived covered in fleas, had ear infections in both ears, and her nails were very long. I cut her nails, gave her a flea bath and cleaned both ears and put medicine in them. Her ears are already doing so much better. I put some flea stuff on her to keep fleas from continueing to bother her and she is very happy without all those fleas. She will go to the vet this week to get a check up and her vaccinations.

My Diary

crossing the rainbow bridge

Well folks, it was time to cross the rainbow bridge today, April 4, 2009. You see, i had a cancer called hemangiosarcoma. Mom had a tumor removed from my neck/jaw area but it began to come back and seemed to have gone to other areas of my body. I didnt want to eat which is not like me so i told mom it was time.
I will miss everyone and most of all my mom will miss me.
Please say a prayer for my mom. She is hurting right now but she knows our creator and knows she will see me again one day when her time comes to cross the rainbow bridge too.
Love ya, Sally Sue

Today, my dad slave did two home visits so that hopefully 2 houndies can get forever homes. Both of those families knew Dad's name and that he belongs to me.
I am sooooo impressed i am so well recognized.

Mom picked me up tuesday evening from the vet lady. I am sore in my jaw area but doing great.
The vet lady called mom wednesday morning to find out how i was and how my new brother, Nick is too.
I will probably go back to the vet lady next week to get my spot checked out and my stitches out.
I am eating well and loving life.
Thanks to all who sent me messages.

Sally Sue
