Arrival Story:
We volunteer as fosters for a local rescue group and Camille came to us as a foster. She had been starved and weighed in at only 18 lbs, at six months old. Most Golden puppies her age are close to double that weight. Her previous family had taught her to beg though, she would dance up on her back legs to get food. She was so tiny and thin, you could see every rib bone and her hips stuck out. We had her as a foster for a week when we realized there was no way we could let her go and so we adopted her. At the time of writing, she's been with us for two months. She now weighs 35 lbs which is closer to what she should be. We hope she'll do a lot more catching up but know that a lot of damage was done in those important, formative months before she came to us.

Puppy Class

Tonight will be my last night of Puppy Class. Mom and Dad say they're just hoping I actually graduate. If they hadn't gotten sick and then had to go on a business trip then I wouldn't have missed two of the eight classes. I hope they actually get it together and take me to all my Intermediate Classes - apparently I'm a little wild (well, that's an edited version of what Mom said at 6:00 this morning) and need some continued guidance (again, edited). Everyone does think I'm really clever though, which they also say can be a bad thing in a puppy, and I've learned everything I'm supposed to ... and more. I learned how to shake paws long before all those other puppies. Do you think they'll give me hat at graduation? I do love a tasty hat.
