Can I be a travel dog?

Mady went to the vet yesterday and mommy saw an ad for a doggy motion sickness medicine!! It's called Cerenia. If I get this, it might change my life! I am very car sick when riding anywhere. I've even been sick backing down the driveway before! My predicament has left me home on some occassions when I would like to go off with Mommy somewhere. I'm a social boy really. I like to visit people, once I get there. But riding in the car makes my tummy hurt and I start to drool. It's not fun. Sometimes getting on the floor helps, but sometimes it doesn't.

I need my nails trimmed. Maybe I can go to the vet for a nail trim and just talk about this motion sickness med while I'm there. I wish I could like to ride!!

A little boo boo

My paw was hurting last night during our walk. I'm not sure if Mady stepped on it or if I twisted it. I was holding my paw up and wouldn't walk anymore. I laid down in someone's yard and held my paw up for Mommy to inspect it. She didn't see a cut or anything like that, but she was worried. Daddy came to get me in the car since I wouldn't walk home.

I hobbled around on it all night when I wasn't lying on Mommy's lap and softly whining. She kept insisting that I needed to go to emergency vet but Daddy thought I was just exaggerating. If it was broken, wouldn't it be worse. Maybe I sprained it.

The humans went back and forth discussing it for a few hours and finally decided that I could sleep with them in the bed. That did the trick!! Automagically, this morning my limp was gone. No vet visit for me. Thank goodness!! I don't mind it, but really if they would make me take meds or wrap my leg up in bandages, I would be very upset.

Maybe I was just faking it to get a little Mommy loving ; - )

Rain, Rain, Go Away!

Will it ever stop raining? We had rain most of Memorial Day weekend and all week too. Remi no likey rain!! I have this special coat you see that doesn't repel water like Mady's does. I don't dry very quickly. And it makes me cold. I hate being cold and wet. It is really muggy and sticky outside here when it rains and then I have to go inside into the cold air conditioning. I get shivers just thinking about it.

The weather man says maybe it will be nice this weekend. I hope so. I didn't sign up to live in the rain forest.

If someone out there is living with tons of sunshine, please invite me to stay! I don't travel well but I make a great house guest ;- )

Playful, for a change

I've been really wanting to play lately, with Mady, Mommy, Daddy, whoever is available. It's a big change for me. I hibernated all winter. Mady and I are close buds now and she is fun to play with. If I growl and bite her ear, she will lie on the floor and acts scared. I like that - some respect for the big brother for once. I'm not trying to scare her, but she's a big sweet girl and doesn't like playing too rough.

I like grabbing a sock, towel or stuffed toy and getting someone to tug on the other end. Mommy did this with me the other day and she was so excited. It's been a while since I've played with her. I usually prefer to just snuggle on the couch. I'm so happy that it is finally Spring that I'm playing way more often. This is my kind of weather! Now I just dread the pawrents pulling out that kiddie pool for Mady. I really hate being wet. I try to avoid it as much as possible.

Must have sleep!!

I like to sleep. Sleep is good. Please don't interrupt my beauty rest. It's a rough life lying on the couch all day, but someone has to do it. The other night though, Mady kept all of us awake pretty much all night. The neighbor's dog barked all night - I'm not sure what was going on over there but he was really upset about something. The rest of us are fine with that and happy to ignore it and sleep. Mady was very upset by his barking and felt the need to bark hysterically back at him. She would not settle down. She would perk up and bark every time this other dog barked.

The pawrents let us out of our crates and even let us sleep on the bed. They tried to settle Mady down by petting her to sleep and telling her it was okay. It didn't work of course. I sighed heavily every time she barked. By 2am, daddy and Mady were on the couch and I got to share the bed alone with Mommy. He was able to calm Mady down better by himself but she really didn't get quiet until after 3am.

The next day was much better. She was exhausted from her little all-nighter. Last night we all slept like babies...

I need to teach this puppy that sleep is good - don't fight it.

Go Heels!

My heroes the Tarheels are playing tonight for the NCAA Championship. I'm crossing my paws that they win! Saturday night during the final four game I left dad and Mady to the game and retreated to the bedroom with Mommy. We were all snuggled and I was napping on and off. Suddenly towards the end of the game, Daddy yelled at the tv and woke me up! Right after that, I heard little paws clicking up the stairs. Mady opened the door with her nose and jumped on the bed to join us. ; - )

Mady didn't like the loud noises either. She was sleeping on the couch beside Daddy until his little outburst. Forget that, she said and came upstairs to join the snuggle buggle.

The Heels did win so I'm not sure what the hoopla (BOL - a play on words) was all about. I'm sure to be snuggled with Mommy again during the game tonight. Maybe Mady will be smart enough to join us earlier!

A Walk in the Park

We had great weather this weekend and Mommy took us to the park for the first time this year! I usually don't do well on car rides, but it's a short ride and I was excited to see where we ended up. Mady tried to take off running as soon as we were on leash. Lots of people were out and enjoying the weather with kites, on the playground or playing basketball. Lots of dogs out there too. We came across a few but weren't allowed to meet them. I whine with excitement when I see another dog and sometimes they growl back - how rude!!

Looks like today is going to be 80 degrees. I hope this lasts! ; - )

Abandoned Snowmen

We had snow again this week! I'm not sure why we keep getting this cold icy stuff, but I don't like it. Daddy shoveled snow off the deck so I would go outside - it halfway worked. I just want to go out, do my thing and come right back inside by the fire. Mady wants to play and chase each other and fling snow all over me. I let her chase me for a minute but once I start to get wet and dirty it's time to go inside and get dry and clean.

We went for a walk the day after the snow. We were tired of being cooped up in the house. Alot of yards had little 2 or 3 foot tall lumps of snow with stick arms. Mommy said they were snowmen. I'm usually a quiet boy but I gave them a little "ruff" when I saw one. I've never seen a snowman before. Mady didn't notice of course, because she was happy happy and pulling on her leash and shaking it between her teeth. What am I going to do with her?

Air Freshener....Yikes!

I am a laid back dog most of the time, but I do have my little anxieties. Water, bugs, etc. Well let's add air freshener to that list. A pup with a sensitive nose like mine just can't handle it. Daddy sprayed some Glade in the living room and kitchen when he burned something. I ran from him and wouldn't go back in those rooms. I hung out in the doorway looking in and wouldn't go a step further. With some coaxing, I finally ran thru the living room to go out the back door and into the fresh air.

When I came back you could still smell it so I ran up to mom and dad's room and jumped on their bed. I don't like smelly, flowery stuff. Finally Mommy talked me into coming back down and it was a little less noticeable. What's wrong with burned english muffins anyway? I prefer that smell to that other stuff!! I snuggled with Mommy on the couch for protection from the smell. She apologized and rubbed my belly. OK, I'm good now.

We've Come a Long Way...

I can hardly remember those days when I was jealous of that fuzzy puppy who suddenly appeared in the house. Exhibit A - the photo of me sleeping on top of Mady. Don't we look like a big snuggle buggle of love? Notice Mady's face and how calm she is. You can't deny now that we are the bestest of buddies.
