Arrival Story:
Nestle came to share our home as a foster dog when she was the last dog remaining at the weekly adoption fair held by the Brooklyn Animal Foster Network in July 2007. She had been dropped off at a kill shelter earlier that week & she was thrilled to come home with us. She slept so soundly her first 2 nights here, she snored like a cuddly little buzzsaw. Two weeks later we dropped her off at the adoption fair & she barked for 90 minutes straight--we had to bring her back home. Clearly, she adopted *us* while we're looking for a forever home for her. The formal adoption was finally completed after several months & she is now a full-fledged, permanent member of our family! We are so grateful to have been found by not just one, but TWO wonderful, funny, loving, adorable dogs.

Bio:
You could call Nestle a "tuxedo dog" -- she has a large patch of snow white fur on her chest & white front paws. She also has brown "people eyes" --she always meets your gaze & appears to be looking right thru you. It can be a bit spooky! Actually, she resembles a Kodiak bear (look at the accompanying pic)!

Today was a great day! I went outside to sit on the stoop and April was there! April is one of my favorite people in the entire world because she saved my life! She was the one who picked me up from Animal Care & Control ("the pound") and the very first foster parent application she ever processed was for Thelma and Louise, the wonderful people I live with! I was sitting outside the high school that fateful Saturday in July 2007 when Louise came by & told April she'd come back at the end of the day and take whoever was left. I thought "Oh boy!" and decided to stay until she came to get me. And she did! April gave her my leash & some other things & Louise brought me to my new home. And that's where I met Thelma! She was really happy to meet me. (Even Bailey, my new big brother, was nice to me, but he was so big, he made me a little nervous.) However, every time they walked me, they made me wear a vest that said "Adopt Me." But I knew I was already home. No one did, but that's because they must have known & it took a little while before Thelma & Louise finally figured out what I already knew--I had found my "forever home." So when I saw April on our stoop today, she hugged me & I nuzzled her & kissed her all over her face & then I kissed her hands & she gave me a squeeze. I was her first success story & she gave me another chance at a happy life. April's still rescuing animals & I love her so much.

You can meet April & some wonderful pets that want to welcome you into their lives at MUTTS AND MITTS OF BROOKLYN: http://muttsandmitts.blogspot.com/

Thank you--it's all about the love!
