Boogie, Scoopy (because his head was so ROUND when he was a a giant SCOOP of ice cream!), Monster, Ban, Schmoopie, Scoogie (pronounced "scoo-jee"), Bando, Boogie Bear, Cute-icious, Cookie Monster, My Lil' Baby Mon'ter Dog, Boogaloo

Doggie Dynamics:

Sun Sign:
Quick Bio:

October 20th 2004

His mommy; hugs and kisses; the beach; stuffed animals; Grandma's food; drinking from a bucket; wearing his raincoat; following Mommy everywhere; playing "hide and seek," hearing "I love you...."

He gets really annoyed when strangers don't comment on how cute he is (rare, but happens every once in a while). He looks up at me & groans a really long groan when he gets snubbed. He also doesn't like it when people hug his mommy.

Favorite Toy:
big white bunny (his FAVE); soccer ball; beach ball; frisbee; Winnie the Pooh; "baby dog"; Teddy; floppy duck; monkey; hamburger; his new favorite is a giant stuffed dog he got for X-mas; he's got a million toys - he loves 'em all. He loves stuffies.

Favorite Food:
rotisserie chicken, rice, brussel sprouts!, apples, steak, strawberries, fish, cabbage, mangos, cherries, watermelon, broth, he loves EVERYTHING except shellfish

Favorite Walk:
Dog Beach

Best Tricks:
Knowing and retrieving all his stuffed animals by name "Where's your Winnie the Pooh?!? Go get it!"; playing hide-n-seek; "Gimme a hug!"; "helping" me carry things which of course, isn't helpful at all, but he's very proud of himself

Arrival Story:
I got Brando before he was even born! I was on a search for the "perfect" Golden for several months before I met Brando's breeder. He was amazing, and bred gorgeous champion show dogs in a lovely setting with lots of knowledge, love, care, and socialization. There I met Brando's doggy parents, was so happy with what I saw, and put down my deposit. I knew my puppy was going to be beautiful, and I also knew he was going to get a wonderful start in life. I couldn't have asked for a better breeder, or better lineage/pedigree. I made a total of 3 four-hour roundtrip visits between meeting his parents and actually bringing him home at 7 1/2 weeks. When we brought him home, my goodness, it was like he had lived there his entire life. He didn't even do the puppy exploration. He acted like nothing was wrong or new. He went potty in the yard like he had been doing it for months. Then he came inside and played with his new toys and eventually took a nap; no big deal. There wasn't a breaking in period; it was the strangest thing. It was just like any other day; very content and cool. And it's been like that ever since.

He looks at me with such love almost all day/evening long....whenever there is down time. He gets really frustrated, and expresses his annoyance with a cartoonish-sounding groan, whenever anyone distracts me from him. He loves when I say, "Gimme a hug!" He grabs a stuffed animal to cuddle with when I say, "Let's go nightie night." Oh, of all his stuffed animals, he always places his "baby dog" (a Golden Retriever puppy) on his own bed throughout the day. He's a silly goofy drooly dog with the funniest idiosyncrasies. And I swear to goodness, I think he laughs when I laugh. It totally looks like it! He only does it when something funny happens.....?!? My little baby monster dog is AMAZING, and is just the sweetest thing ever.

Mom does NOT need to read a book on how to control an- unbiddable unfocused dog! Hmph!

Why do I walk with my nose to the ground? Why can't I just go on a normal walk, with my head held high....a nice confident walk, with a happy gait? Noooooooo, I have to walk with my nose to the ground sniffing every inch of my walk. Mom doesn't mind when I stop to sniff the flowers (she thinks that's cute), but she doesn't think it's cute when I act like detective dog looking for scented clues. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Someone suggested in a Forum that mom read a book on how to control an unbiddable unfocused dog. Now....those that know me know that I am an AMAZING well-behaved soulful doggy who wants nothing more than to please mommy. I am not in the least bit uncontrollable. I am completely motivated by praise. I just have no idea that mom doesn't like it when I walk with my nose to the ground. And mom doesn't know how to let me know....BOL.

I otherwise follow all mommy's verbal directions on walks. I can even walk off leash, and "stay with mommy." I understand when mom says, "Go around that" or "Jump over that." I even look back and slow down my pace for mom if she happens to be in uncomfortable shoes. I wait for mom at corners before crossing the street, and I stay there until I hear a verbal "Let's cross." I understand when mom wants to switch directions and says, "Let's go this way." I am a good boy. I just like to sniff.

It probably appears that I have a confidence issue when I walk like that. But I don't. I just like all those great smells. It tells me lots of things. And I like to know things. Shoot, is it mommy's fault, she wonders? For playing all those hide-n-seek games with me? I've been trained and praised for hunting down scents. Sheesh, mom, it's all your fault....!

Today is my fourth birthday!

Happy birthday to me! My mom drove me all the way to Orange County from Palm Springs just so I could play at the beach yesterday. I got a UCLA cap (which I love because people keep saying how cute I am in it) and also a stuffed kitty cat and a bag of cookies from my grandma yesterday.

Tonight, mom is going to take me to McDonald's for my yearly filet-o-fish sandwich. It's my annual birthday meal. Maybe some fries too! And then she's going to take me to the pet store for some toys and goodies. Yippee! Every other year, I also got cake and ice cream, but we might forego those goodies this year, because it's all really too much for my tum-tum with the McDonald's on top of all that.

Everytime people sing "Happy Birthday" to me, I wag my tail. I love that song. I know it's my special day today. Mom says it's one of the most special days of the year because I was brought into the world that day, October 20, 2004. Seven and a half weeks later, we met, and it's been happily ever after. TRULY "happily ever after"....
