Pups,
We just found out that the mom of one of our dear pup pals is ill and in need of our prayers. In the interest of her privacy, we will not mention names or the illness, but she could really use all of our prayers right now. Her prognosis is good and we are confident that she will make it through this with flying colors (even if the colors are a little muted sometimes), but there is nothing like the power of prayer, love, and doggy paws on your side. So please ... when you curl up with your pawrents tonight, could you just send one up for her? I'm sure the man upstairs will make sure it gets to the right place.

I had my vet appointment today and let me tell you I'm one tired girl. They weighed me,cut my nails, took my blood, felt me up, and took a punch biopsy of my bald spot. Sheesh!
The results are:
1. I've lost 5 lbs since the last time I was seen. (This is a good thing!) They said whatever mom's doing is working, because my thyroid level is back in range. They want me to lose another 6 lbs to bring me down to 52 lbs.
2. With the weight loss, my back knee is doing great. With the future loss, the knee will be even better.
3. The bad news about the thyroid is that since it's in level (good thing since I couldn't tolerate the thyroid meds), they are now unsure of the cause of my bald spot since not only isn't the hair growing back, the spot is slightly larger. It's not a hot spot and they doubt if it's from rubbing because I rub on both sides and am only balding on one side. Mom and Dr. Fedderke decided that a punch biopsy was in order to find what this was so that it could possibly be corrected. They should have the results in 5-7 working days.
4. No liver damage from the Pheno. In fact, they said all my blood levels were perfect. Go mom and the food switch!
5. I start KBr in the morning at 1/8 tsp twice per day. Since my blood looks good, she's not lowering my Pheno yet. She wants to see what happens with the KBr first. Then, if everything goes well, they will start tapering down my Pheno if possible. I have to continue my seizure diary and they will adjust my meds by phone conference unless they think additional bloodwork is needed before my next panel.
6. BONUS! My KBr will only cost $20 every two months! The vet has the powdered form there. She said she has a contract with a place that will liquify it or put it in capsules (which is what runs app. $60/month) or we can use just the powder. Since Maggie and I get the Missing Link powder every morning and night, mom said she would just mix the powder in with my supplement at mealtimes. The vet thought that was a good idea since that keeps the KBr pure as well. I probably won't even notice it cause I eat anything mom puts in front of me. Nobody has ever accused me of being picky.
So all in all, it looks like good news! I'll keep ya'll posted on how I do with the KBr and what the results of the punch biopsy are.
Thanks so much for all the love, good wishes, rosettes, and crossed paws. You pups are the bestest!

Mom woke up early to start her Thanksgiving Potatoes and decided to procrastinate a little and catch up on Dogster. She almost fell out of her chair when she saw that I was Diary of the Day! What an honor! *bulldog blush*
All you pups and kitties out there mean the world to us. The love at this place truly astounds me every day. So many people gathered in one place that truly do make a difference in the world ... not only to their animals, but all those out there that don't have homes or even a warm bed to lay in. And what a thing to be thankful for on this day of Thanksgiving. You all are wonderful and we are so glad to be a part of these communities.
I'd better go help Maggie revive mom. She's waving a paw over her face now. I think the poor old broad's still in shock! BOL!
Ya'll have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Get lots of goodies!

I am supposed to post seven things I am thankful for first. Sooooo here they are.
1. My family. ('Cause they spoil me and my sister rotten!)
2. My pal Dylan. He has no idea how much he has helped me deal with my epilepsy and not feel so alone, even in the short time we've known each other. Thanks buddy ... you mean the world to me.
3. All my Dogster and Catster pals! It is so nice to find other furs whose families are as devoted to them as mine is to me and my sister. We're NOT crazy! (OK we are, but not for THAT reason anyway. BOL!)
4. Home cooking. I am NOT a cornivore! (Side thanks to whoever coined that term ... sorry, can't remember, but it sure was a good one!)
5. HQ for giving all us nutballs a place to gather and get to know each other.
6. Hotels that recognize that doggies deserve vacations too. :-)
7. Discovery HD's program "Sunrise Earth". I am literally ENTHRALLED by that every morning while mom's getting ready for work. I love the nature scenery and sounds. (And the fact that I don't have to get my chubby butt off the couch to enjoy it at that time of morning!)
Now I get to tag seven more pals to play:
1. Sammy (aka Conehead #1)
2. Sammi (aka Conehead #2)
3. Murphy
4. Pugsley
5. The Quigley Sisters
6. Itsy Bout Time
7. Tico El Bandito
Have fun, furballs!

My pal Chili D. tagged me, so here are 7 facts you might not know about me:
1. I have epilepsy. I take Phenobarbital for it and am doing even better since mom took the grains out of my diet.
2. I was in Bulldogs Magazine Volume 25 as a puppy. My furmom and furbrother are in it too ... you can see where I get my sticky-up ears, that's for sure!
3. I can destroy any indestructible toy. It is my personal mission!
4. I play soccer with any ball I can find. I put one in my mouth and kick the other one all around the house with my paws. Mom says she's going to put it on video, but I stop every time she gets the camera out.
5. My dad and I have a date every Sunday morning. I whine to remind him that it's time to go out on the couch with me and turn on ESPN. We lay on the couch together allllll morning until I tell him he can get up. BOL!
6. I hate freakin' fireworks! They scare me and I hide under the bed until they are over. Thank dog they're not set off too near our house, but it's near enough!
7. I love love LOVE to have my butt scratched! Scratch the booty and you are my bestest friend for life.
Now for the fun part! I get to tag 7 more pups! Hmmmm ... I tag Roxy, Ernie, Tank, Hairy H. Parker, Baby Girl, Itsy Bout Time, and Beau!

Mom finally did our pages for Halloween. I was beginning to think we'd have to wait 'til the 28th or something. BOL.
We wanted frames, but she said she hasn't had the time to master that yet. Maybe for Turkey Day or Christmas. (Shhhh...I'm actually surprised she got THIS far! :::howl::: )
Gotta go, Maggie and I are gonna go look for some decorations. Bark at ya later!

I love fall. It's my favorite season. I love to play out in the backyard, run through the leaves (shup Maggie ... I do NOT waddle!), and just lay out in the sun. Since it isn't too cold for the bugs yet, I can still chase them too. Fall's the best!
Maggie doesn't like it as much, but that's cause she's old. Her bones start aching again, so she just kinda hangs while I play. I guess it evens out, cause she loves to lay out and bake in the summer sun for hours. I can't do that, so I stay inside with my dad and the a/c then. BOL.
I can't wait for the leaves to fall. I have my rolling strategy all planned for this year!

And I quote, "Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr"!
Yup, mom and dad are going away this weekend and leaving us with our big brother (aka "His Furlessness"). He'd better remember our treats! And mom and dad better bring us back something or there will be LOTS of fluffy air biscuits being floated for a lot of nights, trust me! I'm a bulldog and I can pack a lot of stink into those things!
They'd better miss us! Yeah, yeah, I know...how could you not miss these faces? I'm gonna go talk to Maggie about trying to sneak in a suitcase. Think it'll work? Nah, me neither. Oh well.

OMD am I stuffed.
Since everyone had a three day weekend, Mom and Aunt Denise caught up on our treats and even baked a cake. My sister and I had to sample everything of course. (I'm sure "the zoo" did too when Aunt Denise got home!) The pizza ones are our favorites. Maggie and I kept puttin' on the eyes so Aunt Denise would take pity and let us have another piece. (Mom's not so easy.) BOL! Momma cut our food down that night, but I still look like someone shrunk my skin while I was out nappin'! OK, so it's not really THAT bad but I really DID eat more than I should.
Gotta go! Mom wants to go for a walk since it's such a gorgeous morning and Dad's already got Mag's harness on! Wait for meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

KONG balls are the best! My mom ordered two of them for me and they came last night! I am so excited! I haven't been allowed to have balls in a long time. I always chewed the fur off tennis balls and got sick, and those little latex ones lasted me about five minutes and I would throw up pieces of those too. Since then, mom and dad would only let me have KONG stuff (or stuff like it), ropes, and my plastic bottles.
Once I saw the KONG balls, I really really begged mom to get me some. I love to play soccer and haven't been able to, but now I can! I played all last night. I tried playing after we went to bed, but mom heard me scuffing around the living room and put them up for the night. I woke her up at 6 a.m. to get them down. She wasn't real happy with me since she only had another half hour to sleep, but she loves me (AND I gave her that really cute look with my head cocked, my ears straight up, and the lower teeth out), so she got them down. I was still batting one around when she left for work. BOL
Sigh. Life is good. KONG rules.
