Quick Bio:

Likes:
FOOD FOOD FOOD -- especially people food! Playing with other dogs, car rides, walkies, chasing critters outside, digging in the yard, snoozing on the couch, rolling in dirt and leaves and most of all SNOW...cold weather makes him extra-frisky.

Pet-Peeves:
The vacuum cleaner, smooth tile or hardwood floors, the sound of airplanes overhead, our big-and-scary six-pound kitty, and B-A-T-H-S. He's rather camera-shy, too.

Favorite Toy:
Our bully-girl Biscuit :)

Favorite Food:
Food, any kind...especially people food...are you going to eat that?

Favorite Walk:
Anywhere, anytime...walkies rule! But he's particularly fond of stopping at doggie rest areas when we make cross-country trips...so many interesting smells!

Best Tricks:
Shedding more than his own weight in hair!

Arrival Story:
In the summer of 2002, I was heartbroken over my Alaskan Malamute Jake's sudden, unexpected loss to hemangiosarcoma. The day I went to pick up his ashes, I stopped on the way home at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, not expecting to adopt right away, but just missing the sight and sound of dogs. The shelter was full of labs, shepherds, hounds, little toy breeds...but even if I didn't have a particular soft spot for the spitz-type Northern breeds, I wouldn't have been able to take my eyes off the sad, quiet, too-reserved elkie, sitting quietly by the door of his run. He just looked *depressed* -- an owner-surrendered outside dog, given up by his family after four years, he'd been languishing at the shelter for FIVE WEEKS already...too old, I guess, or too big, or too furry, or too reserved, for all the folks who kept passing him by. Their loss, my gain: there was a playful, affectionate, wonderful dog just waiting to come out of that shell.

Bio:
