Im writing thoughts for my mom today...As she thinks about me with a loving and warm heart , missing me soo much.
I remember tiny Gargar , we got him from a Pet store, he was timid and shy and a very big Pyr pup. He was as cute as they come, big fluffy head and huge paws. from the time he came to us we knew something was wrong. Gargar didnt play,he didnt make eye contact and seemed to cling to his Newfie brother Gunther.
Gargar seemed to be off in another world at times. We brought in a trainer and did all the things with Garrett that we did with our other.vet check-ups,neutering etc.Gargar did well with training but it only lasted awhile, then he would act out.He was sweet at times but other times he would be full of fear and aggression. A behaviorist was called in ..it work for a short time,we had blood work full panels done everything fine
Garrett never played with toys, he coveted 1 lonely rubber pickle toy , which he would lay with on the bed and drool on.
in the summer of 05 Garretts fear began to escalate,he feared the wind, the falling leaves, the other dogs,he acted out with full force aggression. He totally disassociated his self at times and then be very puppy like and sweet after ther fear was gone.We tryed medication, herbs and love.Garrett was so beautifuil and loving but so tormented in his episodal states. He didnt want to be like he was,he loved unconditionally but he couldnt help what he did.
the summer of 2007 prooved very tormenting for our Luv, his fears grew stronger,no meds etc helped, the episodes became more frequent and it was now everything that frightened him and we could give no relief.
Garrett made no eye contact anymore, he didnt respond to us most times and was very agitated ,he would go off on his own and was selective about who came around.Through all this there were still moments when our Luv would still be alright and be normal. He would join the pack and observe thier play, but not for long.
Garrett was a precious unique soul,he always wanted to be held close, in his better yrs he loved kids, cats and other dogs. His loyalty to our family was definiltely in the true fashion of a mystical Pyr.His mental disease robbed him of this all.He was a puppy mill Pyr, they are known for this type of mental illness.Upon the age of puberty my Garrett was robbed of his sanity due to genetics. We loved him none the less.
On the morning of December 17th ,Garret our precious Luv,had a huge episode, he swung our senior Newf around like a rag doll,he was startled when he walked in the room.He then lashed out at the others as I tryed to restrian my wonderful boy he accidentally bit my arm.It was deep but he meant not to do it. Garrett collapsed from sheer exhaustion moments later, he drooled and shook and was in a puppy like state for hours.I look at the scar on my arm and call it my Garrett tatoo, ya see he is with mr forever. it was the last gift he left me.
That evening at 8:02 after much thought and advice from our Pyr recue person we gave our Beloved Gargar peace , he crossed the bridge to be with Glory. When gargar passed at that moment his soul left his bodt, we saw the relaxed puppy look on his precious face. He torment was relieved he was happy and whole again. We love you gargar and Miss you. Feel the love!!!! .....Hold you Luvs close, and if you ever get a doggie tatoo cherish it.
