Arrival Story:
I talked my dad into letting me adopt a dog, however the dog that I originally was later claimed by her owner. The staff at Animal Control told me that I could come back and take another look at their selection, or get my money back. I chose to look at the remaining dogs and finding nothing particular to my liking, was about to ask for my money back when one of the staff members told me about this incredibly sweet black lab. I agreed to look her over, and he brought out Stella, (I believe back then she was actually "Mona"). She was so timid and skinny, not at all what I pictured. But I knelt down to pet her and she just about jumped in my lap, giving me kisses, and practically beating with her tail. At that moment she captured my heart and I signed the adoption papers immediently. It wasn't till after I signed the papers, that I learned that my brand new friend was scheduled to be put down at the end of the day, unless someone had come along to claim her or adopt her. I don't know if Stella ever knew how close she came to her end that day, but she's an incredible dog. She's very intelligent, eager to please, and so loving.
