Arrival Story: I picked Doogie up from the St Landry Animal Control this morning. I heard from another volunteer in rescue that there was a Boston there and it is a kill shelter. I could not wait for morning to get here so I could go pick him up. Sight Unseen! Poor Doogie was owner surrendered because the owner didn't have time for him. He is a big boy. I'm guessing 30 pounds. He is sweet as sugar and is a happy boy. I have him in quarantine for 2 wks to make sure he has nothing my other dogs could get from him. He looks healthy except for one eye has a red corner. My groomer said it is a stress injury to his eye. Probably he was abused or someone pulled too hard on his neck and caused the blood vesels to pop. I will take care of that as well as for all his other needs. He is safe now and I will respect him and his right to live and be happy. He will have a furever home!!!!

Bio: Doogie is a handsome Boston. He is pure bred, it is obvious. He has the Boston sweet personality but jumps on me and is rough...playing, not mean. Not mean at all. He wants so much to be loved. He can't take the heat here. We go out to potty for only a few minutes and he is huffing and puffing. He must be an inside dog. No exceptions. When he is vetted we will begin to look for tha right family for this sweet boy.

Forums Motto: Take me home and I will love you.

Doogie and his new owner and his daughter came to PetSmart and signed the adoption papers. It's official now. The actual trial period was not over until today but they were sure they want him so came in a day early. He knew me and seemed happy to see me but was a bit overwhelmed at being at PetSmart as usual. His eyes got red and his face very pink as usual. He was so excited and happy. He lost some weight but I'm sure that is due to the freedom to exercise he has now. The owner said that Doogie loves to be outside. I well remember that about him. :) He seems to be taking good care of Doogie so I will do my best now to move on and concentrate on the next dog I rescue. I did what I intended. I found Doogie a good home.

I spent the morning 10/8/07 playing with Doogie and taking him for a long walk. I cried when I took pictures of him in the sun with the colored leaves on the ground. He's on his way to a home trial for adoption. I know the people will want to keep him. How could they not? He is such a special dog. Still, I can't believe I let myself fall so inlove with him. I know better. He just kind of worked his way into my heart. I know the new people will love him and give him a good home. They have a big yard and the Dad is going to play with him in the yard and the park across the street. He is such a sweet dog that they just have to love him and will keep him forever. I have to keep telling myself I would be selfish to keep him because I can not offer him as much as they can. He will be the only dog there, where here he has to share with so many others. He will be happy and I will never forget him and his sweet ways. Have a good life Doogie. It was truly my great pleasure to help you find your forever home.

I went to PetSmart yesterday but I didn't get adopted. Mom said NO. Some people with 2 boys wanted me real bad. I liked them a lot! Mom said NO. She told me the people don't have a fenced in yard for me to play in so I have to stay here. She said it is not safe for me to be outside with no fence. She said I could get hit by a car or get lost. I really liked that family. I guess Mom knows best though. Some other people adopted Jasmine. She got her own family to live with now and furever. I'm happy for Jasmine but I want my turn to be next.
