Thank you Dogster

It’s evening here and mom is just returned from her job,
She had a look at Dogster. The home page has a part dedicated to “Pet – Photos – a Labour day photo homage to working dogs”.
She saw, with surprise, the last picture of a Newfoundland with the helicopter.
I don’t know where Dogster took that photo but that dog is one of my friends and he attends the school I attend, too (mom has been attending it since 1996 (with Assia – her previous dog) and now with me)
I’m happy that Dogster mentioned our work. Thank you.

I don’t want to spend words about the other pictures of K9 units that everyday work in rescue operations, even because 9/11 is approaching and everything has been said.
Naike and her mom want to ideally hug all those wonderful creatures of the world that are DOGS.

Back from holidays

Just returned from holidays in Croatia.
There was a wonderful and clean sea, great rocks seasides from which I jumped, little and lonely beaches where there was just me and my 2 humans having a bath.
And now, the bad news: me comforting mom who, one day, fully centered a sea-urchin when having her bath; me praying the god of canine creatures to save my life when my humans decided to rent a little engine boat for 5 hours. In fact, owing to sea rules, you may not let the engine on within 50 meters from shore; therefore you have to approach the shore or move away from it by paddling. And paddling seems easier than managing an engine but ... it isn't. Avoiding paddles on my head has been my main activity during those 5 hours. I also spent some days on a beach for dogs and I knew many other dogs wanting to share a swimming with me. It has been a great time.
Now, duty calls back and in these days the weather is just reminding me that falls is approaching even if some time has still to elapse.

My humans are almost free: the winter required extra time for job and they’ll have their holidays in one week but they’ll leave for the seaside only mid-August and I’ll follow them.
I hope you all have happy, happy holidays and … hey! if you think to spend some days in Milan in early August ... well … just let me know! I’ll show you (excuse me … bark you) the landscapes here around my region.

Bye-Bye for now

I've not been writing since a long time because of many reasons, one of which is that my humans are having some extra time job.
In any case, I want to say hello to eveybody, to my dearest pals and to those who I simply "met" on-line even only one time. I hope you are all having a great time and that you are all healthy (most important thing!).... As usual, I have some problems with my legs because I always use to run to fast and mom's bank account is rapidly decreasing because of x-rays and vet examinations she does everytime I run and pass 2/3 days like a lame dog.
I hope to write you soon,
Naike

Happy Halloween to all my fur-pals! .. I know you love this holidays. Halloween is spreading here in Italy, too. Very good occasion for me for taking additional treats from my humans.

I’ll be busy all the next week to help my humans to prepare their little final arrangements for their summer holidays in USA (they’ll leave next Monday 10).
I know dad is taking his laptop and some other strange electronic devices to communicate with me and with the person who will take care of me. If everything particular happens, I’ll let you know.
So, see you in early September and have a great summer!
Kisses,
Naike

Hard times; restricted laws

My new food (indicated for liver problems) is working well; my humans are monitoring the situation with periodical blood exams and they are OK and always getting better.
But troubles always come all together: my left front leg suddenly became lame last week so I returned to my vet’s clinic once again.
A x-ray and other different exams revealed no break and we arrived at the conclusion of a simple muscle sprain. With a rest period, no runs and no jumps I returned to walk as usual but mom is very angry with me because she knows why all this probably happens.
I always use to run too much at the park (did I mention about my dream of being a greyhound?), I use to jump a fence that separates the garden from the path from where cars go out (not still sure how I can do that as it’s quite high); I use to open both doors of the garages. Last day, my humans’ next-door neighbour told them that she stood at the balcony for 20 minutes to see I could turn the garages door handles, open, enter and sniff around.
So, now, new more restricted laws for me: no running as I want (difficult to control), further improvements in height fence and … what else may I expect? We’ll see.
I want to run, I want to jump, I want to fly !!!!

My new vet exams

After a month and a half on a diet, my new vet exams are better and they confirmed that the values linked to liver functionality are normal: the change of a specific dried food and the use of Omega oil pills had a positive influence, for sure.
I don’t exactly know if this means that I’ve to eat that new pigswill for the rest of my life, I suppose that we’ll see how things will go on. I’m not even used to take pills so, mom and I had some “arguments” in order to decide if I had to gulp those pills down or not.
Once they were gentle “introduced” into my mouth, I had to taste them for a while, I kept them a little bit on my tongue, then on the left side of my mouth, then on the right one; later I had to taste them better on my tongue and let them roll again and again, then I had to better check their look and see what my stomach was going to see and such a look required a long and keen examination on the floor
…yes … little pills, each one measuring cm. 1 x 1, colour: yellow; taste: quite similar to sweets but the taste has nothing to do with them; specific weight: wait mom ! I go to take the kitchen scales…
Then, suddenly something happened.
While putting her hands in my mouth, I heard her to say something about the uselessness of explaining things and “yes because it’s yes and no because it’s no” is sometimes more useful and quicker in some practical issues and that, in this case, the word “democracy” is banned in my vocabulary.
Now, twice a day, I've to think over these two important subjects.
Your pal,
Naike
