Sun Sign:
Quick Bio:
-mutt-dog rescue

Birthday:
April 10th 2001

Likes:
He likes playing with other dogs. In his down time, he likes to sit in the dirt hole he dug in the back yard.

Pet-Peeves:
He hates it when his mom leaves him; he also loves to hate squirrels and kitties

Favorite Toy:
He's not really interested in toys. But every stuffed animal is a "monkey" and he'll run after it and "get the monkey" when I throw it. He'll pounce on it and then walk away without it. He's bored.

Favorite Food:
He likes any kind of meat. He is VERY picky and that is why he stays so lean.

Favorite Walk:
The PARK! I can just say "park" and he gets so excited.

Best Tricks:
Tricks? Um, the best he can do is a "shake, shake" when I have a treat.

Arrival Story:
I adopted Jack from a local shelter when he was 6 months old. When I picked him out, he had cherry eye in both eyes, and he was looking pretty pathetic. I thought to myself, "If I don't adopt him, no one will." So the rest is history. He is a sweet heart!

Bio:
Jack has the best and the worst characteristics of each breed. He is obstinate like the shar pei, but very sweet like the golden. I am convinced they should make him a breed (the Golden Pei Shartriever!).

Good news, my doggie friends! It's been 10 months since my last bout with shar pei fever! My mom has finally figured out how to keep me healthy! I've even gained a few pounds, which means I'm happy and feeling good! Thanks for all of your inquiries and well-wishes!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Can't Catch a Break...

Boomer was finally doing better and he had a little "run in" with a kittie in the back yard! He got another bite wound, which is usually a precipitating event to his Shar Pei fever episodes. We're on antibiotics now in the hopes we fend off another episode. I'm going to have start wrapping him in bubble wrap and I'll call him "bubble boy." He seems to find trouble wherever he goes!

That's what you get when you mix a Shar Pei and Golden Retriever, I guess.

Fingers crossed!

My Poor Boomer

My sweet Boomer is at the emergency hospital right now. He was pretty lethargic this morning, so I took his temperature. It was slighly elevated (103), so I gave him some meds and took him to the vet. By the time we got there, his temp was only 101, so I thought all was good. We thought we headed off a shar pei fever episode.

I got home from work tonight and my poor guy barely moved. I leaned down to pet him and he was so warm to the touch. I took his temp again and it was 105.8. I called the emergency vet and was told to get down there asap as he may seize at any time.

He's spending the night, and they are giving him iv fluids to bring the fever down. It was so hard to leave my precious guy. No doubt there will be no sleep tonight for me.

Please keep my sweet little man in your thoughts.
