Arrival Story: She came from a breeder, then went to a family down the road from me (who rescued her from the breeder - didn't want her...wouldn't sell her with her papers), then my neighbors took her when they just couldn't give her what she needed. I got her from my neighbors on January 9th '07 when they just had too much going on and she was going to have to stay outside for days on end.
Bio: Maggie is the most awesome dog - she learns everything really quick and always wants to learn more! She has taken many classes with our trainer/behaviorist September Morn. September is one of the greatest people I have ever had the opportunity to work with, she was a great jump start on the raw diet (which helped Mags in so many ways), getting us involved in dog sports (Rally-O & agility, which Maggie absolutely adores doing), and just plain being a friend.
Maggie has been working on getting over a case of SA (separation anxiety) and I think she is almost there. There have been a few relapses, but I will be trying a new form of calming "medicine," an herbal supplement that is supposed to help calm down during my absences (for more on that check the diary).
Maggie will be competing in Rally-O in April and then onto more agility classes within the month of March!!

Pup Quote: Everything that passes unattempted is impossible.
Well mom has moved and there no longer are 5 acres of flat pasture for me to run on :( So now I have to have more structured exercise. Not as much discing, tennis ball playing, or just plain running. We now live on this icky hill where nothing fun can be done unless we walk (mom won't run on the hill - something about tendinitis - wuss!).
So we have been walking to the park (1/2 mile away - 1 mile there and back) to play with the disc or Chuck-it. Some days mom takes me down to the water to play though as well (two blocks...but down/up a big hill) - the unfortunate thing about the water is that it is salt water and I have to have a bath after swimming.
I guess that this has really helped with Rally training though - mom calls me into heel regularly and I have to walk next to her when cars go by or we pass other dogs.
I also have figured out the leash better - I'm not allowed to pull otherwise we end up stopping and not going anywhere.
I love chocolate!!! I love coffee!!! I want to PLAY PLAY PLAY PLAY!!! Where's my ball! Can I have a cookie? I want to go for a walk! Gotta get the kitty!
as transcribed by mom...
Well earlier today (noonish) Maggie somehow got into the container with the above mentioned food. I figured that I would keep an eye on her and make sure that all body functions worked properly.
She seemed fine all afternoon until about 3:30pm when she began the craziest zoomies! She shot around the house at speeds the house don't allow (a few bangs into walls and doors). Then she gorged herself on water, went outside and proceeded to vomit chocolaty syrup (ick) but no coffee beans.
I figured that I would let her do what her body wants to do to get rid of the chocolate and coffee beans. She would drink water and then vomit everything back up every 30 minutes or so. I also decided that fasting for tonight could not hurt either.
But around 7 pm she went crazy and began a whole new round of zoomies. She ran around the house and then demanded to go outside where she had more zoomies. Then there was some kinda runny poo and quite a few coffee beans.
But she seems to be doing fairly well now (8pm). She has settled down, but is easily re-energized. I think this may be due to the caffeine & sugar though...
My herding career was cut short today...mom has been taking me every other Tuesday and I have been loving it! But mom found out that she is going to be losing her job at the end of August and everyone in the house will be having to cut back. Mom has given up many things, the kitties are hopefully changing kibbles (if only Khimmy would not hold out for kibble!!!), and I no longer get to herd. I do get to continue Rally though - but that is because I can do it anywhere anytime and not have to go anywhere (plus the trainer is one of mom's friends).
But mom said I did really well at herding today - we were able to do some straight lines and some good circles. I only broke the sheep up near the end, but that was because mom was boring - I wanted to run and bring sheep to her, she wanted me to keep the sheep with her and not have to bring them back - how boring!
