Arrival Story:
My brother, Peanut, who I never met, went to Rainbow Bridge in September 2006. My youngest skin sister started having nightmares abouto a big black bear chasing her. My little skin sister, Ronnie, likes big dogs so Mommy looked for someone to join our familiy. Mommy loves rescues and pound puppies. Mommy started looking at all of the area rescues and shelters but couldn't find anyone she liked. So she put an ad in Craigslist and freecycle asking for help finding a new furbaby. Mommy said what kinds of babies she was looking for. A nice lady emailed my Mommy and said she had a seven month old Newfoundland. My other Mommy already had Newfies but she couldn't handle me because I was still a playful baby. Her frail and elderly mother and grandmother had to come live with her and she had to spend a lot of time with them. I loved my other Mommy and skin siblings and I'm glad she loved me enough to find my Mommy and siblings for me.

I LOVE to wrassle with my brothers. They jump on me and punch me and they like it when they punch back. They also like to hug me and use me as a Pillow. My favorite activity is being furniture. My Mommy taught me not to jump on people without permission so I have stopped trying to play with everyone. I am gentle now because Mommy says not everyone knows what to do with a big dog. I love the attention I get when I go on errands. Little kids run up and hug me and ask my Mommy if I am a bear. Ronnie, youngest skin sister likes to take naps on me and I lie very still so she can sleep. Then I go to sleep too. My skin niece and Ronnie like to play horsey on my back but I don't get up and walk. I just lie there and then beg them to get back on when they stop playing with me. I love to walk on a leash and if you hold the loop for me I can put it on myself. I walk very gently with Ronnie and let her lead me around. I know when Mommy has to go to work, but when she comes home I grab the leash and try to shove it in her hand. I do it Saturday morning too because I know she doesn't have to go to work! When I am scared, I used to get in Mommy's bed but now I too big. So I make her lay crossways on the bed and hang her feet over the edge and into my fur. It's not comfortable for her, but Mommy loves it and I like to stay there.

Why do dogs like to pick fights with me?

Rusty picked a fight with me when I walked past the food. I don't like to fight so I tried to tell him it was okay, he wins, but he kept attacking me. When dogs attack me they usually can't get through my fur so I just lay down, but Rusty just kept coming and I had to defend myself. Even though I bit him, he kept coming back, until my skin brothers pulled us apart. Then I told him I was mad but he snapped at me again. Just as well, he got his. Mommy and my skinsibs wouldn't let him have an afternoon treat and they hugged me up and ignored him. This morning he's been sucking up to me big time. Haha! I forgave him because I'm not good at being mad at people.

Big Brown Begging Eyes

Mommy thought she should let everyone know that although I'm a big boy and can get things by brute force, I'm much better at begging. She says she can ignore me pushing my way into things, but she can't figure out how to get around my begging eyes. I'm looking for a way to practice the "I'm gonna cry any minute if I don't get a piece" look. Mommy says she can't be moved but she gives me nice low fat chicken breast treats anyway.
