Arrival Story:
My husband works out in the community and one of his customers had Jackson and no longer wanted him. My husband told me about the dog (as I have always wanted a beagle.) After thinking on it a few weeks (and being convinced by our son) we went to pick up Jack and the rest is history in the making.

My beagle thinks he's much bigger than he is!

There is a German Shepard down the street (glad I know now!) When we walked past their house, he came barreling over to us, hackles raised. I pulled Jackson away and yelled "Help!" to get the owner's attention.

I had VERY bad thoughts running through my head and they all ended with Jackson being some bigger dog's dinner!

Thankfully a little girl from next door came over and grabbed the German Shepard's collar and we managed to escape without further incident!

Man, this owning a beagle thing is hard work!

We finally decided to trim Jackson's nails.

Let's just say it was NOT a pleasant experience for anyone involved! We did good for the first eighteen claws, after that it got UGLY!

When we snipped it, the entire claw fell off and Jackson started bleeding a LOT!

We finally got some cornstarch and got the bleeding to clot, but he would lick it off and it would start again. So we had to improvise.

We dipped his paw in cornstarch, put a baby sock on it and taped it up good. Needless to say, he didn't like that very much, so I had to put a SECOND sock over that one and tape it on...folding the top OVER the tape so he couldn't chew on the tape.

A picture says a thousand words...check out his sad puppy dog eyes in the photo with his sock paw!

Thankfully, he is no longer bleeding and back to his normal self! As for us, we won't be trimming his back paws any time soon.

Jackson has only had ONE accident in the house today, hopefully I'm not jinxing him by saying that! He's gone potty outside and been a good boy. Very little barking and lots of playing and being good.

Well, that was until I took him out this last time. He's been so good about sitting and waiting for us to put his leash or lead on before he goes out. He's also been "appearing" as if he'll walk right into the house, once his lead is taken off. Little did I know!

He sat nice, I undid the lead and he was GONE! He took off into the neighbor's yard and I finally managed to lure him over with a hot dog...only to slip his collar off his neck and enable him to take off again. We were told he liked to run, so I let him do a few laps around me before I lured him back in with another piece of hot dog.

I finally got my hands on him and put him in the crate for taking off. We really need to get him microchipped. If he had gotten away we would have had a lot of broken hearts in our home!
