Arrival Story:
When my husband and I decided in 2001 that we wanted a dog, we began researching to find a breed that is nonallerginic, as we both suffer from respiratory allergies. We soon became aware of the Schnoodle (schnauzer/poodle mix) and decided that was what we wanted. We found a family in New York who was expecting puppies in a few weeks and we reserved our pup. We corresponded with the family during the time that we were expecting Sophie to be born. When she was born on Jan. 11, 2002, we received photos of Soph when she was only minutes old. During the 10 weeks before she came to live with us, her owner sent us photos and videos almost daily. We had already given Sophie her name before she was born. In March of 2002, we made a road trip from Alabama to New York to bring Sophie home. She was our dog from the beginning. And a good dog she is.

Bio:
This past spring, Sophie developed a condition known as hemolitic anemia, and we almost lost her. It was a very scary time of uncertainty and sadness. The vets didn't give us a lot of hope for her survival, but she surprised them all. Sophie is now 100% recovered. We have added the "Miracle Dog" to her long list of nicknames and terms of endearment. It is truly a miracle that she's with us today, thanks to the prayers of friends and the expert care of several vets.

Happy Father's Day to Pop Pop, who is waiting for me and SuSu in Heaven. We miss you, Pop Pop, but SuSu is taking good care of me--except when she makes me have a bath like she did this morning.
We love you, PopPop.
