Arrival Story:
We had always wanted a dog but never knew which breed to get. After meeting my Uncle's Shiba Inu named Sheba, we started looking into getting a dog again. Prior to meeting Sheba, I had never heard of Shiba Inu's. I liked the way they looked and after reading about them decided that the Shiba Inu would be perfect for us. Lucy came from a breeder all the way in Arkansas. She was born on June 7th, 2004. We had to wait a few weeks for her arrival, but it was worth the wait! When we finally met her, it was love at first sight! I fell in love with her cute face, her white "socks" and her white beard (looks like she has milk on her chin).

Lucy's tail has a double curl, which according to the vet makes her extra special! She is a HUGE drama queen. If she trips or just needs attention, (like she doesn't get enough), she will act like her foot is broken. She limps around holding her paw up and whimpers. We know she is faking it because she will forget which paw she was originally pretending she hurt and will switch from her right paw to her left paw. To be totally sure she isn't really hurt, we get the peanut butter out. Once she smells it, she comes running, totally forgetting about her "broken" leg. Lucy also loves to yodel for's the funniest thing to hear.

I think I am in love! Since we moved to a new house I met this handsome dog named Pooja. He is a lot bigger than me - but really hairy and handsome! He is a Golden Retriever. We first met when he stuck his nose under the fence. We knew it was love from the beginning. I so desperately wanted to go over to his side and play. But that darn fence was getting in the middle of things! =) After a week of touching noses under the fence, my Pooja helped me get under the fence. He dug a big hole with his big doggy paws so that I could fit under. Finally!!! - I got under. We played and had a great time until my human mommy came looking for me. She was not happy when she discovered what Pooja and I had done. She came over and got me and covered up the hole, but a few days later we dug a new hole. After getting in trouble again - my mommy lined the whole side of the fence with bricks!!! I was so sad until she told me that she would still take me over to play with Pooja. The days everyone is at work we just sit by the fence and sniff eachother longing to play again.......

While my mommy and daddy are at work I stay in the kitchen in my "play pen". Chewing on my pig ear and playing with my toys gets boring! I try to push the metal play pen over everyday, but it's just too heavy.....until one day I figured out how to climb it. Yep little ol' me! I fell a few times, but after many failed attempts to get out, I was free! I was pretty proud of myself. When mom and dad came home I waited in the livingroom so they could see how smart I was after escaping, but they walked right past me. They thought I was in my play pen still. Boy did I trick them! When they finally spotted me they asked me how I got out. I told them I climbed because I am such a smart girl. They continued to ask me how I got out and I kept telling them how. It was as if they couldn't understand my telepathic messages! I kept looking them right in the eye......boy, humans need a lot of training!
