Arrival Story:
Patton was found by a vet tech on the side of the road after apparently being hit by a car. He was estimated to be about 7 months old. He had no collar and no tags. He was placed with a rescue league in Ocala, FL and was being fostered at the vet's office for 6 weeks before we found his profile on petfinder.com. The moment I laid eyes on him I knew he was the right match! BF and I drove to Ocala the following weekend and picked him up!

Bio:
Patton's rescue name was Mulberry, which was the name of the vet clinic he was being fostered at. We changed his name to Patton after General George Patton. Since "Mommy" is a military history buff, this was a perfect name for him! Patton was very timid with other dogs at first. It didn't help that he was attacked by 7 dogs at a dogpark one evening. It was a frightening experience for both of us. But with time and after finding some nice playmates at our apartment complex and frequent trips to a safer park, Patton is now confident and loves to be everyone's best friend!

I'm Patton. Since I am an ACD mix, one of my very favorite things is herding! However, since I don't live on a farm I have a very difficult time outleting my instinct!

So I practice on the cats.

Jack and Esco are the 2 feline friends who I live with. They are brothers who Mommy and Daddy adopted on New Year's Eve 2006. So they are about the same age as me even though I didn't get adopted until June. I like to herd them around the apartment.

Generally, they are a bit quicker than me.

I try not to give up despite Mommy and Daddy calling my name and redirecting me to my toys. I tend to think of the cats as toys. I have gotten swatted at, hissed at, clawed at, and meowed at, but that doesn't deter me!

Esco gets me back by sitting on top my crate at night and swatting at my tail. I think he enjoys that I get locked up in my crate at night and he gets to sleep on the bed. I show him though... the moment Mommy and Daddy leave for work I jump on their bed and sleep there during the day. I used to think they didn't notice but then I got caught when Mommy and Daddy pulled up in the car one day and saw me sitting on the bed and staring at them from the bedroom window. Oppps!

Jack thinks it funny to crawl behind the couch so I can't catch him. I run from one side of the couch to the other, peering behind it. This, however, does not seem to phase him. He will often just sit there until I tire myself out or whack my head on the wall while putting on the brakes...darn that carpet is slippery!

So someday I will figure out how to make those cats go where I want them too... In the meantime I will continue to lick from the toilet bowl and sneak on the bed. Seems like a good plan.... for now. ;-)
