Arrival Story:
Strider was my first dog and when he died, it about killed me. He was like a brother to me. I couldn't take the loneliness and so I began searching for a companion pup. Strider could never be replaced but maybe I could begin to mend that huge hole in my heart and make room for another friend... I looked in the newspaper where I had found Strider, and I found an ad for some free pups to good homes; husky/chow/pitbull mix. I jumped at it and as soon as mum got home, she called. The man said they were all already taken. It was dissapointing. But fortunately, the man called us back that night and said that someone didn't show up to take their puppy, so he offered it to us. For some odd reason, I knew from the beginning that he would call back and give us the good news. I don't know how I knew, but I knew. Well long story, short- there were two pups left (Steele and a blonde female) and I snatched Steele right up, just a 7 week old little thing. I remember the sickly-sweet feeling on the car ride home. So crushed to lose my Strider and here I was with this new pup... But Steele has been my constant companion and best friend ever since.

About Steele:

Steele knows over 25 tricks/commands. He is a laid back dog generally (though can have plenty energy to burn when he's up for it). His energy level takes mostly from the chow side. A lot of people think he's still a puppy when they see him and they're surprised when I tell them his age because they think he's a purebred sibe. He is only 35 lbs full grown. I know he's mixed with chow because his momma looked mostly chow- medium sized, thick, chow hair, solid brown. The person who we got him from also said he's got pit in him. I can't know this for sure, but it's possible, especially since he has a thinner coat than a husky or a chow, though that can come from many breeds.

Even though he's pretty chill, he also loves to go rollerblading, biking, walking, exploring, any chance he gets. His absolute favorite exercise is racing on rollerblades. I used to take him blade racing against my friend and her dog on the streets, but that was a long time ago. Since my friend moved, he hasn't been able to blade race. He still loves it with a passion, though and would always win. Once, we were nose to nose and just as we came up on the finish line, Steele ever-so-slightly nudged my friend's dog and won by a nose- literally! Naughty little pup. lol Normally we'd be way ahead, but sometimes I'd wait up or let Steele take a potty break or even let my friend get ahead, but we'd still always win. lol Steele's very competitive when racing and he used to get too worked up and liked to taunt (growl and bark) at my friend's dog when we'd come up next to him to pass, but I taught him not to do that, it's not very sportsmanlike. lol He still tries to race when I'm rollerblading with him (yes, race, and get ahead, not chase) people on bikes and things like that. He even raced with a guy I know who was driving his tractor. xD Very competitive, I tell ya. Haha
