Arrival Story:
Bella was a strayed doggie, wandering the streets of Minneapolis, carrying six pups inside of her before she was rescued by the Underdog Rescue from the Mpls pound. Three days after the rescue, she gave birth to her pups, safely in the foster home. Having been severly over-bred in her previous home, Bella had Mastitis and had to stop breast-feed her little ones early. Few months after she and her pups were up for adoption through the rescue network. We were, at the time, looking for a French Bulldog, hoping to get one from a shelter or a rescue network. Then, we came across, Bella (then-known-as Malee), having listed as French Bulldog/Pitbull mix, who was up for adoption at a following Saturday at a pet store nearby. We thought we would, at least, go meet her. Once we walked inside the store, Bella was by the register, waiting to greet the patron. We immediately thought she was quite big for a Frenchie and too large for what we were looking for. But then, she walked up to Cookie and rubbed her nose between her knees with her tail wagging so hard, it could fall off her butt. We knew right then that she was the right dog for us. Funny thing, we are now convinced that Bella is a pure-breed Pitbull with no trace of French Bulldog in her. We have become very pro-active about educating people about the good and loving side of pitbulls and very concern about the breed-ban that may happen in Minnesota. Truly, it was fate that has brought Bella to us, and to show our love and loyalty to her, we will continue to spread the good words about the Bullies.

Underdog Rescue needs our help.
While it's a hopefully a joyous time for humans, it's often a miserable time to be a homeless dog. During holidays, the Minneapolis Animal Control has been swamped with many unwanted dogs and Underdog has been called upon to save them. However, we have more dogs needing homes than foster homes needing dogs. Animal Controls are short-staffed over each holiday and have a policy of euthanizing as many anumals as they can as a result. Since before Thanksgiving 6-eight week old puppies, 4-four month old puppies and 7 young adult dogs got euthanized.

In order to prevent more precious lives lost, please open up your heart and home even for a short period to foster these homeless dogs. Underdog is in dire need of emergency foster homes between the dates of 12/19 to 1/19. If you or anyone you know would be able to provide emergency foster care, even if it's only for 1 week at a time, or even for the few days over the Christmas or New Year Holiday, please contact us immediately. www.underdogrescuemn.com 952-929-0777.

Help My Friend, Captain Jack

As a rescued dog alumni, I feel a great sense of pride and duty to help out other dogs in need especially one close to home. Today I ask everyone for your help for Captain Jack. Captain Jack and I have so many things in common, we've both been abused by the ones we love and yet, still find a way to trust and love human again. We also have been rescued by Underdog Rescue here in Minneapolis. To return a favor to this great organization for saving my life, plus, six of my pups', I want to pass along their donation request:

Captain Jack's leg was severely injured when he was hit by a car. His owners just chained him in the backyard--they never took him to the vet. They just let him suffer. Months later, they finally gave him to Animal Control who called Underdog Rescue. Caption is now in a safe and loving foster home.

Captain's injured leg had to be amputated on August 7th. He seems to be feeling better already. Although the vet charged Underdog Rescue a reduced price, the cost of the surgery was still $800. This was a huge check for a small rescue organization to write, but Captain Jack deserved a second chance at a good life.

Please consider making a donation to Underdog Rescue in honor of Captain Jack. Your donation will help Underdog Rescue continues its work of finding new homes for rescued dogs and cats.

So friends, it's time to dig up some old bones to help out a dog in need. Captain Jack will thank you.

With the Breed-Specific Ban approaching my tail and all my friends in Minnesota, Andii has been so motivated and active of spreading the words out to all our friends and families. Sadly, many good Bullies out there have lost their lives in Denver, Chicago, and so on because people would rather be ignorant than educated in understanding our breed. So, in order to get the mass to be on our side, Andii is designing a bumper sticker to get our issue visible that it's not the breed that does the bad deed. Of course, it's my tail she's been chasing trying to get me to do the Pit Bull stand. No way, siree. I only know sad, damsel in distress poses. How do you think I always end up with all the good treats?? I eventually gave in and gave her an I-have-an-itchy-butt pose, which she thought it was hilarious...oh, human.
So friends, it's time to fight like a real Bully--stand up, be proud of our breed and love those who stand by us. And for those who are against us, we'll just love them to shame!

PS. I'll keep you posted when the bumper sticker is done, for those who want to get their paws on it.
