Arrival Story:
It was Friday August 3rd me & mom were on our way back from Hattiesburg going down the backroads & there was a dog crossing the road. I stopped to see if it was okay. To my surprise walking up to my car noticing I had stopped was a chocolate colored male pitbull looking up at me. My heart just sank!!! I wanted to get him but needed the manpower to help me so had to wait on my husband to get home who was at the river. So I rushed home & got lots of water & food & went back up there to give it to him in hopes that he would stay there until the evening when my husband could help me try to get him. We went back that evening & the pitbull was nowhere to be found. There were tire tracks off the road that were directly in front of his water & food I had left & so we thought sure enough either somebody had got him or scared him off further into the woods. I was so dishearted & just praying to God that he had fallen into good hands, but I still didn't give up hope & was going to keep a watch on the area just in case. Saturday August 4th come along and me & my husband went off to Hattiesburg to spend some time out together. On the way back home we cut through the backroads. I told my husband that I was still going to look for the pitbull & not give up hope until I was convinced that he wasn't there anymore & no longer did I get that out of my mouth & there walking in the middle of the street was the pitbull!!! It was 9:45 at night & here we were on the side of the road trying our hardest to get him. He would get within 5ft of us, but that was as close as he would come. We got some hot dogs & vienna sausage & he was scared to come up to us to get those, but finally he did. Time went on & he got closer & closer & more use to us. Finally we got the courage to try to pet him & when we would touch him he would jump so hard as if he thought we were going to hit him. It was so sad. We just persisted trying to let him know that we were there to help. Anyway to make a long story short, we left with him at 12:45 a.m. He has battle scars on him & he is skinny, so we know that he has been through alot, but whatever he has been through he can rest assure that it won't ever happen again! We got him home & I have never saw a dog thank somebody before, but I witnessed it that night first hand. We fixed him up a pen with doghouse, water & food. When he got in there he wagged his tail & even licked us! It was SO amazing to see the transformation! We ended up naming him Chevy. I hope all you animal lovers enjoy this heartwarming story! I have posted a picture of our new addition on here. God knows we can't afford another dog, but I am hoping that the good Lord will help us provide for him. I don't know of many other people that would sit on the side of the road for 3hrs to get a full grown pitbull LOL so I don't think that it was a coincidence that we ran into each other, I just think it was meant to be:)

Bio:
We don't really know when he was born. The vet says looks to be about 5 yrs, so I put down the date that we rescued him from off the side of the road dated back to 5 yrs ago. He is still recovering from whatever he has been through, but each day he is getting more energy. I will definitely keep his diary updated on his road to a complete recovery! He is absolutely AMAZING! After all he has been through & he still can give us all of his love. He is a blessing to us!

So proud of my daddy & mommy

The other night... daddy was patrolling our county helping keep it safe with his K9 partner when a call was dispatched to a house from an anonymous caller. The caller said that dogs were not being taken care of. My daddy got there & saw appauling conditions. There were 7 dogs on chains, 3 dead and of that alive was 1 adult pitbull & the rest puppies. The pups looked to be about 6wks old. One pup could reach another pup that had died & was so hungry was eating it:( Daddy couldn't believe his eyes... he was so mad and upset at the same time. He said of all calls he had been to that this was by far the worst. Daddy knew the dogs needed to be removed immediately. He contacted animal control & they told him that they only take strays & they don't pick up abused animals. Daddy being a cop has authority to press charges against the owner, for which he did 7 charges to be exact but daddy doesn't have authority to remove the dogs. Daddy ended up removing the dogs anyway and took them to a shelter. He took the pups, but didn't have the room for the adult pitbull so the animal shelter went back that next day to get the adult pitbull. I sure hope daddy doesn't get into trouble for doing the right thing, and I am sure really proud of my daddy!!!
Mommy immediately went into a frantic that next morning of this happening and called ASPCA. ASPCA told her to call the local law enforcement and she informed them that my daddy is the local law enforcement LOL! Anyway, ASPCA ended up opening up a case on this issue and is going to get back with mommy in a few days and boy she sure can't wait to talk to them! Come to find out, the pups were put down because the shelter said they were too far gone. The adult pitbull is still at the shelter (http://prcspca.org) but is on hold by the Sheriff dept until they can figure out what they are going to do. The lady at the shelter said either the dog will get released if the owner says she will care for the dog or either it will get released to the shelter & they will put it down. Mom asked why & the lady at the shelter informed her that ALL pitbulls are put down there, even if they resemble a pitbull!!! The lady said that our breed is too much of a liability. Mommy was furious of course and I thought she was about to go through the phone on hearing that LOL! BUT this will surely add on to what all she is going to tell the ASPCA when they call her:) go mommy!!!!

Sooo today is the day we celebrate as my birthday! I have come such a long way since a year ago this day. I was rescued off the road, taken into a home I knew nothing about. I took a chance on them and they took a chance on me and I am grateful for that. Got rid of my heartworms, had ligament surgery and I have mild hip dysplasia, but I am doing very good with it. I am so healthy and happy now! I hope more people give our breed a chance! I am glad I got my chance:) Many hugs and kisses to my mommy and daddy!

PS - I know I am going to get some delicious treats today! yummmmy!

Special Thanks!

I would like to give a special thanks to all of my dogster friends for their encouragement while I was on my road to recovery. We couldn't have gotten through it without you guys! And also a very special thanks to Yugi for help with the outrageous vet bills at our time in need. Thank you Yugi for loving this pittie!
