Likes:
Eating, sniffing, cuddling with her people, walking with her other dog buddies in town.

Pet-Peeves:
Other dogs sniffing her butt or her face, barky little dogs, puppies trying to play with her too aggressively.

Favorite Toy:
tennis balls that other dogs have already chewed on.

Favorite Food:
kibble with Caesar wet food mixed in or Happy Dog.

Favorite Walk:
The Vallejo Adobe trail a few blocks from our house. Lots of birds, squirrels, people, and frogs to say hi to!

Best Tricks:
Spontaneous rolling over for/putting paws on people she likes, looking cute/sitting when wanting treats, making whistling sounds when she's happy. :)

Arrival Story:
We read about Daley on the American Brittany Rescue website. My mom and I drove two hours to her foster mom's house in Berkeley, and there we fell in love with her at first sight. She sat next to me , looking at her foster mom like, "Okay, I'm ready to go with them now!". Her foster mom claims she'd never seen Daley react so well to any other people and signed her over. That was 4 years ago, and every day we love her more!

Bio:
Daley was abandoned at a construction site in the East Bay, found by a good samaritan after being attacked by a German Shepherd. Her foster mom believes she may have once been used for breeding puppies, and she was probably abused by men (she only trusts a handful of men). She loves older neutered male dogs, probably because she lived with one at her foster mom's home. :)

this dogged heat!

Happy Summer, everyone!

Wow, this past weekend was a toughie thanks to a heatwave here in Sonoma! 103 degrees! My human counterparts were wilting, as was I! We don't have air conditioning, but I am lucky enough to have a cool pad water bed. :) Getting hosed down a few times and given ice cube filled water helped a lot, and we all gathered around the fans in the living room while the sun beat down. Yuck! Heat isn't one of the things I really like at all! Anyway, we got through it okay, and I got some good time at the dog park afterward.

I have some new friends; they are locals who come to the dog park and have regular play nights together. Normally, tiny dogs and dogs who are excitable kind of get on my nerves, but these two are nice and I enjoy spending time around them. They understand that I'm older and just prefer to spectate while they run circles around the park. (Sometimes after they leave, I get a wild hair and start running too, just to remind my humans that I still can!) Their mommies are nice enough to bring me little treats sometimes, which I looooove! Between that and the free cookies on the windowsills at 3Dog Bakery, it's a smorgasbord for me at night!

My human family are all doing just fine. The cat, Nunnie, is doing better... she had a tumor removed from her ear awhile back. She is ok though partially deaf now. But at least they caught it before it got to her brain.

Speaking of veterinary matters: My vet says she thinks I'll be around for another five years AT LEAST if my humans continue to care for me as they have. :) I plan on it! I make them take me out every day, no matter the weather. Haha.

More later. Hope you're all staying cool in the weather! Love and kisses!

Hello again, everybody! I'm back on my page again.

Today I go see Dr.McGrane...yikes. Two weeks ago was a heavy duty time! I had bunch of teeth removed, root planing, and a mass removed from my right rear leg. I came home one sore pup! My humans took good care of me, though, and I'm healing very well. Had to take some yucky medicine for two weeks, but at least I feel better....I'm supposed to get my stitches taken out this morning, eeek! I've been getting extra walks, cuddles, special soft food, and lots of compliments on how spunky I am for my age.

Even my humans didn't know I'm actually twelve now. They thought I was 11. Heeehee! Tricked 'em! Of course, people think I'm a puppy when we're out walking! Seems like a lot of people have had Brits during some time in their lives, and love them. One older man started crying when he was petting me, saying I look just like his beloved Ranger, who died of cancer years ago. Yet another man said I look like I have "an almost human face, like you can tell there's a soul behind those eyes". Anyone who says dogs don't have souls obviously doesn't know much! How can you be loving and loyal without a soul?

Well, that's enough philosophy for now. I've got to get ready for my "date" with the vet! Wish me luck, friends!

Ow! Lookin' For Ducks In All The Wrong Places...

Okay pals, I know I haven't been too good at this journal thing, but I have a reason. I got a foxtail in my eye!!!! OWWWWWWWIEEEEEEEEE! It hurts like a mama! Scratched my cornea! I was minding my own business, sniffing out some ducks, when ACHOOEEE! Something went up my nose, and into my eye. I couldn't do much for a day til my buddy John decided I wasn't getting better. I had to go to the v-v-v-vet *gulp, shiver, whimper*. I was NOT okay with that at all! Now I'm on eye drops, which means I get goop squirted in my eye three times a day. Gross.

Oh well. On the bright side, the vet was happy with my new "svelte" physique. I'm one sexy Brittany, I tell ya! ;) I'll be back in them thar fields chasing ducks in no time! In the mean time, everydoggy chase small rodents or birds for me! Kisses and sniffs!!!
