It's a bird, it's a plane....

Oh gosh! Today I got to take Mom on a walk all by myself! I took her about 1 1/2 miles which is sorta far for a dude like me with short legs. Mom says that I walk her much better when Layla isnt with us because I'm not competing to be in front all the time but she says I need to work on walking a straight line because I trip her an awful lot. Sheesh, I kinda think that maybe it's HER who needs to learn to walk around ME!

Anyway, on our walk there was this huge bird in the sky that made a really loud noise which got louder as it got closer to us. It didnt get close enough that I got a good look at it but Mom says it was a Chinook, whatever that is. All I know is that it didnt quite act like a regular bird and it sure was a lot louder than I remember other birds being. It flew off though and I havent seen it again since.

Well, I'm pooped from my walk so I'm off to nap.

So...Layla has been laughing at me ever since I came home from the vet yesterday sporting a big collar. It's torture! I'm not really sure why I'm wearing it. I've been going about my business like normal....a little chew here, a little lick there....apparently it's the lick that has gotten me in trouble. Ok so maybe I've been licking a little too much. Remember that little surgery I had the other day? Oh wait, I didnt blog about that, did I? Let me backtrack....a few weeks ago Layla and I had surgeries....you know, THE surgery. Anywho....that was a few weeks ago and Layla is all healed up but apparently I'm not supposed to be licking my incision. I thought the vet told me I WAS supposed to lick it but Mom says I misunderstood. So now it's infected and THAT is why I'm wearing this goofy collar which I HATE. Dont tell anyone though, but I can still lick it!

Snow!!

Oh my goodness. We had some excitement here today, we had what I'm told is something called snow. It's a concept that is new to me so bear with me for a moment while I tell you just how I came to experience it. Today it was cold and rainy...I know what rain is, we get that every so often....but then it turned super cold and this white stuff started to fall from the sky. I didnt think much of it at first because it wasnt hanging around for too long. It just floated on by and then disappeared.

Well! Tonight mom was cooking something good smelling in the kitchen when I saw something out the back door. I barked a few times and mom peaked out the window to see what I was barking at. She said I was silly and was just barking at sssssnow. Yeah, I dont know then what it was either, so she let me out on the back deck and I found a coating of white stuff on the deck. I sure didnt know what it was and wasnt sure I wanted to put my paws in it. I put my front paws out the door but kept one back paw on the door jam and the other I kinda held up in the air like I wanted to step outside but wasnt sure what would happen if I did.

Finally I took the plunge and I hopped right out into it. Oh my goodness it was cold but fun. I could scratch and scratch and scratch at it but it wouldnt go away. It stayed right there! Then I figured out that I could lick it. What fabulous fun that was. Dad kept opening the door and asking me to come in but I wasnt ready yet. He kept telling mom that I had to be cold out there but the silly guy doenst realize that we're not cold when we're discovering something new!

Layla came outside after a while to check out the white stuff too but she wasnt too impressed I dont think. She just stood around out there and then went back inside with mom. She's not so adventuresome I guess.

Well, I should go because I'm told tomorrow we're taking a trip to aunt Pam's house and then another trip to Oklahoma. Guess we'll be two traveling doods tomorrow. I sure hope we get to play lots with Shelby. Mom tells me that she's gotten really big so I might have as much fun as I used to with her. We'll see!

Peace the fuzz out!

Recouperated

Ok, finally I'm rested up and ready to put another post in my blog. This weekend sure took it out of me so I had to take it easy...ok so I really didnt take it easy but I had to get back into my routine of annoying my mom. That's all back on track so let's get to it.....

Let's work backwords and talk about today first and then finish up with the fabulous weekend. Mom says today she's getting a new crate for Layla, I dont understand why I dont get a new crate but they tell me that I get Layla's old crate as a hand-me-down. Isn't it usually the younger child that gets the old stuff and not the older one? So what if Layla is a lot bigger then me and she's going to outgrow her crate? I'm the one who needs the new crate NOW!! I can't even stand up in mine anymore. Oh well, I guess I dont get a vote since I dont have any money.

Sheesh, Layla sometimes acts like such a bully. Ok, so she's just getting back at me for chasing her around the house but does she have to pull me off the couch by my tail? And then today it was pulling me off by my hind leg, that's just wrong. You'd figure that she's big enough to just jump up on the couch to get me but she never does. I think she's a little off in the head because I LOVE to be on the couch so I naturally assume any doggie would.

I think Layla is on to my tricks. I keep burying my bone all over the house and she finds it every single time. It's like she's standing right behind me watching me as I do it. I walk away and BAM! there she is taking my precious bone out of it's hiding place. I don't get it, I just don't get it.

Oh my, yesterday I saw this big, grey, ominous looking thing in the middle of a yard as we walked by. I gave it a good bark and growl but mom kept telling me I was silly. What's silly about taking on a very scary thing like that? So what if it was only a gas meter, it was a very serious and threatening gas meter! Just ignore the fact that we walk by it all the time and I never take a second look but yesterday it was particularly scary.

Well now it's time to talk about the weekend and man was it a good weekend. It started off not so fun with a really long ride in the car in our crates but as soon as we got there it was on! We were back at mom's parent's house and it was a blast. They have a really nice backyard and we get to run around in there without our leashes. I think that's the best part and since the weather was so nice we spent a lot of time out there.

Lots and lots of people came over to visit me and Layla, wasn't that so nice of them to come and have a party for us? Mom kept telling us it wasnt for us but we knew better. All the people were a little scary so I decided it was in my best interest to stay away from everyone even though they all thought I was adorable and wanted to pet me. I decided that only mom and dad were worthy of my immediate presence.

And the best is for last....I got to go in a pond!! I got very dirty and looked like a drowned rat according to mom but it sure was fun. I can not wait to go and do it again and from what I overheard from mom & dad on the ride home that we get to go back soon!! I'll have to make sure mom and dad bring the camera so we can have some pictures for all posterity. I dont really know what posterity is but it sounds fancy, doesnt it?

Before I go, I want to give a shout out to Scruffy and his family. We think maybe there are some difficult times going on with his daddy's ALS since we saw an ambulance there the other night and we havent seen Scruffy or him mommy in over a week. We hope all is well and our thoughts are with them.

The good and the bad

So which one do you want to hear about first? How about the bad....that's how I generally like to get it. The bad is that I had my ear medicine again tonight and I sure didnt like that. I struggled and struggled against mom and dad when they put the cleaner in there but I sure did like the massage I got to work it all in and the wiping out wasnt so bad either. I just dont like it when they squirt stuff in there. So that was the bad.

The good was going to puppy class again AND going to the field to play!! I think my favorite part was going to the field, chasing balls and running after daddy. We sure did run a lot. I had to stop a little and catch my breath while Layla kept running. My short little legs dont take me as far.

Today in puppy class we showed off our skills we've been working on since last class. We did pretty darn good if I do say so myself. I think I impressed a few people (mom & dad mainly) with my skillz.

I think I'm gonna go take a nap since I'm pooped from my day.

Paws to all!

Sheesh!

How many times am I gonna have to go to that vet place? I got more shots again but thankfully it's my last round until next year! One bad thing though is that the vet found an infection in my ear! That must be why Layla is so fond of licking it! So now mom and dad have to give me a super duper ear clean every day and squirt some medicine in it to help clear it up. Does that make me a high maintenance doggie?

Well this high maintenance doggie is headed to his kennel for bedtime.

Night!

Fire trucks & police cars!

No, they weren't at my house, I havent managed to burn down the house quite yet.....but when I went on the long walk today I saw them! At first mom thought they were gonna come straight at us down the street but they stopped before they got to us. We did walk by them though! I wasn't afraid one bit with the loud engine and then right after I passed it I got to see a new doggie in his yard. Jean Luc was his name and was a poodle! He barked a lot so we didnt get close for a sniff or two. Mom just stopped and talked to the lady for a few minutes and then we were on our way. Mom says I did good again on my walk but she wishes that I'd be good on the ENTIRE walk and not just the last 3/4 of it. I don't think the walks are working to wear down my energy at night or in the morning, I'm still busting at the seams. Maybe I need to go on longer walks?? Mom doesnt like that idea much because she has to take me and Layla on separate walks so that would wear her out! We shall see, maybe I can bark her into it.

Mom took me for a super long walk today....ok, well it was longer than anything we have done before and I was pooped afterwards. Mom says that the first 1/4 of the walk was not so good but once I got tired of sniffing everything I began to be a good puppy on the leash. She was very happy with me and even happier when we got home because I just laid down and relaxed for a little while. I guess I really annoyed her today because I was acting pretty bad but I was just so bored!! One good thing though was a hotdog put into my Kong. That kept me busy for a good 45 minutes. That really makes mom happy too because she gets to regain her sanity.

Well it's almost bedtime for this Bonzo so I better go!

Guess What?!

I went to puppy school today!! I got to meet a lot of new doggies. Let's see, there was a beagle who peed on the floor three times in one hour, a cocker spaniel who barked a lot, a maltipoo who hopped around like he was on drugs, a maltese that snuggled in her mommy's arms like she was a princess, an Australian shepherd who was just such a cutie and then of course Layla. Then there were a few a couple of ladies that stood up in front and talked a lot. Mom says it was the trainer and a trainer trainee. The trainer lady seemed to know what she was talkin about for the most part but the poor trainer trainee just laughed a lot and talked really fast. I think she was nervous up in front of all of us cute puppies. We can be kinda intimidating :) Then of course there were a lot of people peering in the windows looking at how cute we all were. I think mom's daddy would call them rubberneckers.

What did we learn, you ask? Well not a whole lot this time around except "Watch Me" and how mommy and daddy should hold us and play with our ears, eyes, mouth and paws. Supposedly it's so we're easier to handle when we have to go to the vet or the groomer but I dont understand that since we're always well behaved. It was a good time though and I can't wait to go back. Afterwards we got to go and look at fish! Daddy really wants some new fish so I was helping him pick out which ones I like. While we were looking at fish a lot of people kept wanting to pet me but they sorta frighten me a little bit when they move too fast. Mom hopes that I'll grow out of that. I hope so too!

Well that was our fun filled day! Hope everyone is enjoying their Labor Day weekend!

Woof!
